Please keep in mind, this is just my experience of both movies. You're not wrong for liking one more than the other. This video was to explain why some people (myself included) had a better time with The Dark Knight. My points don't go in depth enough to explain every little detail and how I interpreted them but I hope you can be mature enough to accept the idea that the stats don't lie. My poll and the IMDB ratings are more than enough to point out that not everyone feels the same way. There is no such thing as a 'Best Batman movie' that is objectively impossible, there is only your opinion on the matter. By all means you can criticise my points but try to keep in mind the other things I say in this video.

I've not seen The Batman yet so can't really comment. Tbh, I hate super hero films, I'm no comic book fan and I get bored with over the top CGI films. The Dark Knight is watchable, it's well acted and I think Ledgers great in it. It's not like the typical superhero movie at all, it's just a good, dark film. Best of all, for me, is The Joker. It's more of a character study. I can rewatch it over and over just for Joaquin Phoenix and his mesmerising acting.

Sorry but I can't name a single thing the batman did better than the dark knight.. And not even batman begins and the dark knight rises. All 3 far more superior than the batman. The dark knight is one of the best and critically one of the best movies ever made. The batman isn't even in the discussion. It is the second best after the trilogy but far behind as a second best

Regarding factor 2, Pattison’s Batcave is located in an abandoned train station. If I’m not mistaken, these facilities are government owned so the fact that no one has come in to shut down his operation probably means that he probably bought an abandoned train station which won’t make any money or he paid off the authorities to look away. Sounds pretty billionaire-esque to me

No, but you can't add speculation to such a level. Otherwise what's stopping me saying Batman was actually in a gay relationship with the police chief and that's why he's allowed to keep his bat cave. Show don't tell relies on you at least having the show part.

Personally I loved the Riddler, him getting revealed as a loser with glasses was the point of his character. He talks about how the mask gave him power, and allowed him to act as his true self. However, when he gets unmask we're supposed to see how pathetic he really was. There is a power that comes from being anonymous and Riddler fully embraced the power he got from it.

the reason Bruce in The Batman isn’t the lavish billionaire playboy we typically know him as, is because he’s new to being a vigilante and hasn’t yet mastered doing good with both his regular self and his alter-ego. I think lines like ‘you really could be doing more for this city’ hint at Bruce becoming more in touch with his highly respected philanthropist side in the second movie.

Some people seem to forget that The Batman takes place in Bruce's 2nd year as batman. He doesn't have all of this fancy tech yet and a pimped out cave and stuff because he is still working on everything. Compared to Bale who'd Bruce is well over that 2nd year point in his career in fighting crime. It also portrays Gotham realistically as a full of criminals and psychopaths

Criterion #6: How immersive were the streets and set piece locations of Gotham? That’s where The Batman shines (albeit shining in darkness). I still think TDK is a better film, but if we add in the 10-8 I’m proposing to The Batman, then it’s 49-43, TDK. 41/33 = TDK is 24% better… 49/43 = TDK is 14% better, which feels more appropriate to me.

The Batman 2022 was intentionally trying to dismantle Batman as a character, declaw him and render him obsolete. This was an intentional choice, and it *really* detracted from the movie. It made him impotent as a detective, because every important clue he discovered was just mentioned in passing by another character, he couldn't figure anything out himself even until the very end. Batman lost, completely- he was always one step behind and very narrowly avoided tens of thousands of dead civilians. The final scenes of the movie were essentially telling Batman to 'stand down' and just be some dweeb volunteering at a food bank rather than arresting criminals, because we should instead have complete faith in young politicians to fix the city. It was a good movie, but the themes of The Batman and what it did to the character in its universe make it worse whenever you think more about it.

Let's look at the clues he discovered, shall we? First off, the murder imprint on the floor. His discovery. The Drive answer. His discovery. The boots in the photographs. His discovery. The El Rata Alada riddle. His discovery. The introduction of the informant. His discovery. The rataalada website. His discovery. The murder weapon itself. His discovery. The map of Gotham under the carpet. His discovery. The password to Riddler's video. His discovery. Batman in every film before this has gotten info from criminals and Alfred, but when Pattinson does it he's suddenly a bad detective, even though in every instance their brief help leads him to discover the true meaning behind it. It's just silly nit-picking.

if that’s your interpretation of the batman’s ending, you missed the entire point of the movie. batman/bruce’s entire character arc is that doing nothing but beating the shit out of criminals got both him and gotham nowhere, and the only way for him to bring about any real change was to become a symbol of hope to the innocent, *in addition to* being a symbol of fear to criminals. i can sort of understand your problems with the detective stuff, but “dismantling” batman as a character is kind of the point of the movie.

Loved this video 😁 definitely agree The Dark Knight was better and I have a few thoughts. Here's my ranking: Believable Batman: DK: 8 (Movement too wooden) TB: 9 (Good portrayal of early years, desire to keep fighting, fear as a weapon etc) Believable Billionaire: DK: 10 (Shuts down the ballet 😂) TB: 6 (No suave or sophistication at all...and yes way too emo, but has the house, the butler etc.) Intimating Villain: DK: 10 (HEATH LEDGER) TB: 8 (didn't like the portrayal of the Riddler, but very intimidating for the way he convinced so many to join his cause) Brilliant Bat Tech: DK: 10 (Batmobile and intro to Detective Mode) TB: 5 (Detective Mode is all that saved this...wtf was that Batmobile?!) The Big Event: DK: 10 (For me this was the stand off with Dent as this was the payoff to the Joker's plan. And it was sensational. And very impactful for Batman) TB: 9 (This worked beautifully for me, more death would have been gratuitous. And very impactful for Batman) Total: DK: 48/50 TB: 34/50 Some additional thoughts if anyone cares to read. Please let me know your thoughts on these as I'm worried I'm too narrow minded about The Batman. 1. The Batmobile THANK YOU for mentioning the Batmobile stall....wtf was that?! Without doubt the worst moment of the movie and the biggest anti climax ever. The Batmobile itself didn't look too bad for an early-career Batman, but the stall just completely ruined it for me especially after that huge build up. Comparing the 2 between the movies isn't really fair though I think because in Dark Knight, Batman was much older and more experienced, not to mention he had Lucius Fox (who is conspicuously absent in The Batman). Either way, that stall though...just no. (Yes I know he didn't actually stall, it was a fakeout to get the villain to run...but my god it was awful and I'm calling it a stall 😂) 2. The Villain Heath Ledger as the Joker....no one will ever beat that. And fair enough, but the Riddler was just....very odd for me. There were so many clever puzzles which were very in character, but the army mask that looked like something a terrorist would wear, the way too intense shouting into the video recordings and the singing (oh Jesus the singing) were just awful, not to mention super out of character for the Riddler. Overall I really didn't like the new portrayal of the Riddler, whereas Ledger was sensational as the Joker. 3. The Relationships Bruce and Rachel had history. Even if you watch the movie as a stand alone, you can see and feel their history. Batman and Catwoman did a scene together and then at the end someone was like "oh yeah oops we forgot to write in the kiss...ok just kiss"...wtf?! It came out of nowhere, made no sense, didn't fit in and was just weird all over. Sorry that ended up being so long. I really hope someone reads to the end and replied with their ideas 😁

So I'm a huge fan of both of these movies, very big Joker fan and big Batman fan, as well as love this new take on this brand new Batman. I just can't try to fully compare the two as hard as I try because they are completely different Batman films. The Dark Knight is a Batman who is experienced and going up against Heath Ledger, enough said. However The Batman, Robert Pattison, is a Year 2 Batman, who started to build that muscle car at the age of 7, and is a gothic late 20 year old just beating the shit out of people. Are you seriously going to tell me a teenager to young adult will fully set up there car, or just make it more badass looking and hope it doesn't stall? Now that he sees that mistake the next movie he will have fixed that

The Batman took too many liberties from TDK, IMO.. it was good, and I know TDK set the bar rly high. Also, if The Batman is going to have at least 2 more parts, then it should be compared to Batman Begins. The scene where Bruce goes to the memorial and the car comes crashing in, very similar to Bruce going to the event where he sees Rachel and Harvey (puts tables together). U already know, when u see Bruce, as Bruce, with all of the fancy people - bad guys are going to crash the party. Even the ending - Batman and the cops on high alert, at another event with the fancy people - shooters waiting for the moment to pick off a politician, Batman ends up hanging off the edge of smthng rly high up, etc. Same scene, different movie.

Hey mate, another great video, congrats! 🥳 The truth is, Batman is always the least interesting character in everything he's in. The villains are the stars of the show. The villains of Batman are the best in the business because they all reflect an aspect of him,: Two-Face reflects his duality: Scarecrow, his use fear and psychological tactics: and the Joker well...he is an opposite-Batman. Of course, we shouldn't forget that the Joker is always considered as one of the best villains of all time, if not THE best. Combining this with the excellent acting of Heath Ledger created something near-perfect. This is the reason why contemporary Batman movies avoid showing Joker as the main villain because they know it is near impossible to top the Dark Knight Joker's performance.

This is amazing! I honestly never thought about the villains in that way, but now you've said it, I see how perfect it is. E.g Firefly is his desire to destroy that which he disagrees with (criminals), Black Mask is his tendencies for violence and desire for control and the Riddler is his giant intellect being truly tested for the first time. And yes, totally agree that no one could ever live up to Heath Ledger as the Joker, so it's not really fair to compare.

  • @lukesimon2227
    @lukesimon2227 Жыл бұрын

The dark knight is better heres my reasoning - The Dark Knight portrayal of Bruce Wayne was accurate because it shows how he's a billionaire playboy who's good at business and nearly no one would even suspect is Batman. The challenges he faced, the use of his utility belt, his persona, the costume and etc was accurate, well thought out and played out. The plot, the villan, the side characters and the Protrayal of Gotham was a masterpiece. The movie was a fucking 10/10. Now Batman 2022 was a great movie 8.5/10 only because of what im about to explain; the way the protrayed Bruce Wayne was not good because he was this dark eyed emo type of person who didn't socialize and wasn't the accurate type of bruce wayne we all saw in the Dark knight. The Batman thought i liked to an extent because i felt he was just a little bit too brutal (lol) which was ok i didn't mind, also the fact that he was taking fully automatic machine guns to the chest like that was wild. This is supposed to be his 1st or 2nd year as Batman so i kind of understand because 95% of Gothams underworld uses guns. I also liked the fact that since this was his 1st or 2nd year as Batman, his Batmobile was not that kit out and it looked amateurish, Catwomen was nice i like how so has a shit ton of cats (lol) and she was slick and slim among other things. The penguin short was his time on screen was great. The villian obviously Hush was amazing, the mind games, the baits, the tactics, and just his level of intelligence waa wonderful. The ending of the movie was great because Batman/Bruce Wayne finally realized that he can't only be a sign of vengeance for Gotham but also Hope

  • @neareed9241

Except the point of the video is comparing the movies to find out which one is better. You haven't accomplished that at all. Pretty much every category is arbitrary. Like the brilliant bat tech comparison. Bale has better bat tech. Okay. How on earth does that prove that the dark knight is a better movie lmao. Or the Batcave comparisons. Cool. Their different. But that doesn't make one movie necessarily better than the other. Most of the comparisons in the video seem so surface level. All you've done is show how each of these takes on Batman are different. Sure you can say you personally prefer one take over the other but that wouldn't be an argument for which movie is actually better. If I were to use your logic, the Lego Batman would be considered the best batman movie (there's actually a strong argument for that but that's besides the point lol). Trying to give a generalized feeling is honestly counterintuitive to comparing the movies on a critical level. If you're going to claim one movie is better, then you need to actually have solid arguments to back up said claim. You would have to actually critically examine both movies past these surface level comparisons. Which movie has the better story, themes, character arcs, structure/pacing, characters, action sequences, cinematography, music, entire cast performance, and etc. This way your actual verdict would feel more earned and would make way more sense. Would have been a much more solid video imo.
