Finally! Someone who can explain the basics without jumping right into the advanced stuff. I wish though that someone would demonstrate how to edit a single video. Yes, I am very new to this. Thank you.

Best beginners tutorial ever for openshot
This is a perfect tutorial for someone with no video editing experience whatsoever! Well paced and clear explanations. Thank you!
There are so many crappy tutorials for various programs, then along comes Jonathan... Excellent explanations, pleasant voice, and the feeling you are listening to a trusted friend! Thank you so much Jonathan! Robert Ronan Montana
Having struggled for years with Corel Videostudio, slow performance, crashes and general poor useability I decided to look for a replacement of which there are many. Most were either too complicated, buggy or just did not work until I found OpenShot. Not only did it work out of the box but I created a video with fixed images, video content and music within half an hour of downloading. I could not believe how easy it was and the tutorials have helped with some of its finer abilities. Well impressed Jonathan. You can expect a cheque in the post ;-) Yes - I will be donating shortly. A very professional piece of software. Highly reccomended.

OpenShot is a simple and powerful video editor. These tutorials by Jonathan Thomas are superb. Thank you.
I have just started with your tutorial and, God, I learned so much in such a little time. Thanks for making it so clear. I will carry on the next ones as soon as I master this first lesson. A world of possibilities. thanks Jonathan.
Dear Jonathan! Thank you very much for this very useful, well explained, easy to follow video that I really enjoyed watching!
Finally, a clear tuition, not jumping straight into advance stuff like the rest do and loose everyone.
I’m reluctant to choose this over PowerDirector because most reviews say Openshot has too many bugs and crashes all the time. But your tutorials are so much better than theirs; you go nice and slow and cover small details which, asa new computer user, I find relief in. Not everyone was born knowing Nerd-Speak. So, since I can actually comprehend your instructions I’ll probably go with Openshot. Thanks man. ❤👌🏾
Amazing tutorial .... incredible! Believe me I've watch a number of tutorials on Openshot & sooo frustrating. You to the point, the examples & details what you CAN do in Openshot is mindblowing! WoW wish I found you right at the beginning instead of wasting hours & hours & hours of my life (& hair) & still a blank slate (i'm not that thick - I used CorelDraw etc a few years ago - not like zero idea). Thank you so much, Abundant blessings, love & light. May the Universe shine on you forever!
I was a Master Training Specialist in the US Navy. It's not only important to show or tell how something is done, but also why? Why are you doing this or that. Explain the purpose of what you just demonstrated "Why" ties everything together and helps the student understand and remember. Better than the last five so-called beginner videos though.
There's a lot of fun stuff I could do with OpenShot in the quarantine. Thanks Jonathan 👍

tbh honest i found a lot of people saying filmora or other apps but i never found any other editor as much as easy and simple as openshot, so thanks to openshot which make things a lot more easier.
Jonathan you are fantastic, for the job you have done with this software, you are the best!
im openshot for life. i would/will be donating soon, thank you so much open shot i edited 42 videos since i found this, i made a goal to do 1 video a day for a year and this is my preffered program fro editing, thank you open shot i look forward to more features, i am behind open shot 100 percent and will do whatever i can to help make the program better thank you openshot
You get right to point...and yet you made it uncomplicated. How refreshing!
Sometimes I use Openshot to edit my videos (not that I edit very well) but I find it quite nice to use. Maybe not the most powerful and exact video editor ever, but it's good enough for me and I like that there are ready to use effects. More experienced editors might require more detailed editing software, but since I'm useless at editing, Openshot is helping me learn about video editing quite a bit :)
Wow thank you I learned a lot from that. I have been using the software for a few weeks. I'm really excited to see more videos from you and provide quality videos for my business.
Really huge thanks Jonathan for this program, I have only just come across it and the more I mess with it the more impressed I am. monitors (and have done for about 20 years now) otherwise I quickly forget what is behind the window I am working in) and discovering that I can drop the preview window or really any other function window onto another monitor just put a huge smile on my face. Adding to that the fact that the settings are remembered for the next time it’s opened well my face is hurting, , thank you for your superb effort and for putting the work into the public domain. I cannot thank you enough and a donation will be on its way as soon as finances permit as I am a pensioner and money has to be rationed.
Thank you, Mr. Thomas. I am learning how to navigate the "Openshot Video Editor." I an old end-user: before the Internet the only technology I opened was a book or newspaper. Therefore, I appreciate the slower pace of your tutorials. Best wishes to you and all your "students." Let's knock 'em dead one day, figuratively speaking of course, with great videos.
Thank you for such a nice lesson. Made things so easy for an old man like me.
Wow yall made some BIG changes to this. One thing I hated about "open source" was it's pragmatics and crashes... which this app did LOT and I hated most about this app at the time was it was tedious adding transitions and stuff and now you guys have it to where you can select each one per frame that's freakin awesome!!!! I just upgraded my laptop with an SSD drive and it's 20 times faster now and not imma try this again. I have a feeling imma love this now. THANK YOU for continuing to be open source and I hope people are donating to you to keep it that way before you corporatize it and charge a stupid subscription or some crazy price.
how do you cut a video at certain points that you don’t want in the video like most youtubers do. like cutting out a scene where you stop talking and move onto the next part when you talk again
Dear Jonathan, thakns for introducing all the features of OpenShot with utmost clarity. it's a great time to be with you.
Very helpful but u should show how to take out parts of a clip with the same audio and how to turn down the original audio and adjust added music
Does anyone have issues with the music being choppy and the program randomly closing?
Yea, I just discovered OpenShot. Really appreciate you taking the time to create and post this video. I'm good with new software but this is a lot easier to take a few minutes and learn from someone who already knows. Your video should come with all OpenShot install files! [=
FINALLY! I found the answer to the question no one else answers! Thank you so much Jonathan! I just need to click and drag the multiple scenes on the timeline in order to move them all together. :-)
Excellent ! I just tried to learn by opening my OpenShot, watch and stop your video in here, and make it in my software. Brilliant ! Easy to learn and I feel the power in it :) Now, I'm jumping to the next lesson ...
You are so clear at teaching which made me to think that I wish I had you in my college. Thank you so much!!
Jonathan, everytime i start working on clip i get a glitch or hesitation in some spots of the main clip, tried saving and watching on vid player and it's still there. your thoughts.
really good video there bud; a lot of confusing video software out there. This one looks simple; thanks for all your help.

Great! Straight to the point and exactly what you need to know without filling your head with random crap! Thank you!
Hi Jon. Every time I try to add video files to the project, it flips them upside down. I'm frustrated and don't know how to fix it. Help meh please.
What a fantastic tutorial .Thank goodness we have guys like Jonathan.I was going crazy trying to work it out on my own Thanks a million !

Thought things were going to well .When i add transitions by moving over each clip the sound goes wonky Arrrrgggg
I've just uploaded my very first video using OpenShot Video Editor, without even watching a tutorial, it was THAT easy!! thank you!! ^_^
Jonathan, thanks so much for all the work you have put into this software. I just used it to create my first edited video. Looking forward to more tuts!
I loved your demo...you are so relaxing to listen to and learn at the same time! Are you going to be as good with 'cutting clips'? That's where I fail every time!
What a great tutorial. This guy understands how to speak to noobs.
thanks dude, had to use this for a video essay . You're a lifesaver
Thank you so much for your software and tutorials. You rock! We are in 2022 and I cannot find the zoom little blue bar. Where can I find the zoom function?
Jonathan, I would like to thank you for this fantastic software and also the tutorial on youtube. This is really appreciated and I try to imagine the time and the efforts you put on this work. I just can understand why all this work is available for free. Some people like you are very generous and know what mean the word ; SHARE. So, Thomas I"m learning with you and your software and try to produce some interesting things in video. Again Jonathan....it's amazing and I THANK YOU SO MUCH
Just what this noob needed. Thanx for a very good tutorial series. Others are just too much, too fast, too poor quality.
Absolutely superb - very well-paced for a beginner (as opposed to too many others). THANK YOU!
Im so excited to use this software. Thank you for creating it and for your help. Straight forward and easy to follow.
When I do transitions, it gets slow and choppy as heck. Whats up with that ? Edit; this is only on the preview playback. If I export the video, it plays normal.

hey, please tell why the video doesnt have the music in my content video even if I put a seperate music right below my voiceless video ??
So, it sounds as if we need to create the still images [titles at beginning and credits at the end] before we get into splicing it all together. My question is, "What size [I assume in pixels] do we make those still images? Thank you. I am VERY new to this, as my question shows.
Thanks Jonathan! Very helpful since I forgot to save my zoom video in the cloud and couldn't edit it within my zoom account! You're very appreciated!
A Question, How To Change The Volume Of The Music, While Another Music Is Playing? My Point Is Playing 2 Songs At The Same Time But The Other One's Volume Is Reduced How?

Thank You So Much! I Was Totally Confused, Till I Saw This! You Make It So Simple. I want To See All 3 Parts!
Very well done! Clear and slow enough for beginners, thanks
Very easy operation as compared to other available VDO editor Congrats
Its incredible that this program is free, it is very useful
That's cool. I'm going to try this video editor. Hopefully, it wouldn't lag on me. But no matter what, your tutorial was great. Two thumbs up!
Thanks Jonathan for making this amazing software available for free god bless you
Awesome video, i am very new to all of these stuff online, i dont know how to make a video or whatever because we have no computers and internet in my younger years lol, now am a senior citizen but i want to make use my time after retirement to learn about this and teach it to my grandkids, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL...
Loved your video - made using it a breeze. I downloaded the current version 2.4.2 however it keeps crashing on my Windows 10 laptop. Can you shed any light on why this is happening? Much thanks.
Adding multiple clips to the timeline by right clicking doesn’t work. I’m using version 2.4.2, on a brand new iMac, with up to date OS
TNice tutorials was an amazing tutorial. You are a great teacher
I have just started using Windows Movie Maker but I found it a little confusing... I have watched your first 2 tutorials and although this looks VERY similar, it does at first glance appear to be a little more user friendly!? I am going to download this tonight and give it a go. Thankyou 👍😉
Hi, are there any mods that would allow me to zoom in further than enabled usually on the timeline? I use it for animation and subsequently have 0.08 second images, which are hard to grab without modifying the length. Thanks so much!
Genious produce! Almost professional but exactly easy. Zillon thanks for your creativity and altruism for sharing your extensive labor open source.
The transition segment must start at the left edge of the overlapping area between the two clips, i.e. at the start of the second clip, otherwise we get black flashes at the point of contact
When I drag it down it doesn’t work, it just goes away after I drag it
Jonathon thanks very much that was exactly what I needed! Could not figure out how to export, and you nailed it. Cheers mate.
Great video Jonathan, Thank's for the share , there are quite a few videos on OpenShot but mostly they explain things to quickly before you have time to grasp things, but yours was a great pace . Brian UK.
cant wait to start playing around with this thank you so much!!
Hello sir! Around 4:22 in your video, the same in my desktop(Samsung Tab Pro S) only show Import files and details after clicking right side from desktop. Do I need to use mouse to show all?
Great intro video. Really helpful. Thanks. I'm off to have a go now!!
I have a question: Can I edit together multiple mp3 files and then export it as an mp3 to use again?
@sealifett8395

Use Audacity for that.Even pros use that and its free
Thank you for the simple approach. Very helpful. Might you slow down a little next time? That would make it perfection.
If it was a problem for me, it's a problem for someone out there too. To move the rectangles around to place them around the desktop for better work flow, go to view and select 'unfreeze', THEN you see the 'x' on the corners of each rectangle. The tutorial doesn't say that, I had to find it by testing all settings in 'view'.
Hi Jonathan, I have been using vsdc but I have jumped over to OpenShot and I really like it. I have watch your playlist and found it very helpful. But can you tell me is there a tool that increases the volume of a video ? Cheers
Great tutorial video simple and easy to understand , not like other videos , they forget that it is for beginners and some people like me have never used a editing program before . Thank you Question : Can I save clips to a stick or external hard drive so I don't use up all my space on my computer
Hi Jonathan: Congratulations for your excellent content. I have a question for you. If I want to create a 10 minute long video in OPENSHOT, how may I set or adjust the timeline, so I can see all the minutes, and seconds, until the 10th minute, where my video will end.? Kindly appreciate your answer. Thanks. Jose.
Easy to understand and great help with beginning work however. When I saved it am not able to open the file when I exported it to my mp4 files in google. What am I doing wrong?
I found this tutorial very helpful as somebody who is new to the world of video editing.
Thanks helping a bit so far and I'm glad you made it simple ( cuz I go from moviemaker to this so I'm wanting simple lol)
I never get the opening screen as at the beginning of this video. I don't have the project files on the left, video preview on the right and timeline at bottom. They're always separate. How do I get it like that? Thanks!
Jonathan you made it very simple and I am going to download and try a VIDIOOOOO. Thanks.
Salamat po at may natutunan ako kahit maiksi mahusay
Thank you for this tutorial very to understand and very clear explanation.
Hi Jonathan - I just found out about your software from a buddy today...looks awesome..thank you...
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS HELPED SO MUCH THANKS You need more subscribers THIS IS SO GOOD
Hi! You have developed a super product...thanks! I have only watched the first two videos so far...so maybe my question will be answered in a subsequent video. But...what if all I have is one long clip of raw footage...and I want to snip out the unwanted segments...and then splice together several different segments with transitions, into one finished piece? Is there a tutorial that demonstrates that?
Please see it you can help. I;m starting to use OpenShot. When I open it, the screen only shows 1 time line, track 5 Even if I go to the left to add tracks, keeps showing only one track. Cannot work like this. How can make it to show the five of them? Thanks so much. Great guidance.
I'm a bit lost. i used your suggested method to splice my video to chop out unwanted bits. i then highlighted all and added to timeline - all on one track as didn't need to have any cross overs or anything. it looked right - it was exact right length but when i export the file is huge. it is like although each of the 4 parts appear properly it become 4 x the original video instead of 4mins + 49mins+3mins and 4 mins. now it is too big to open or upload. HELP! Please...
When I export an MP4 file, the audio and visual don't sync up. The original raw file was synced up. The file in Openshot is synced up. But not the exported MP4. Is it something I did in editing? Is it an export setting? HELP!!!
Seems like a good program, reasonably easy to use. I appreciate your attempt to instruct a 'beginniner'....but some of us have never done video editing, and I might require even more basics. My page is very different from yours. My page has nothing on the bottom, but the clips on the left, the video preview on the right, and the tracks in the middle. And trying to get 'help' is insane. I went to your help page. My issue wasn't there....and the instructions to get help for issues that aren't covered are circular...and I was not able to submit a help request.
Great job! I learned enough to get started with openshot and know what I am doing. Thank you.
I couldn't love this less...thank you Jonathan! You're the man! Muah!! One more thing, is it possible to create a text slide-show without much struggle? How?
I love the product however, the buffering is so disturbing that I've stopped using it. I have my cache is set to 7gb, my res is set to 1080p 29.97fps and sample rate is 44100. I'm doing KZread videos. Is there anything else I can do to prevent this enjoying buffering issue. Thanks Tom
I was looking for someone to explain like you did it helped me a TON THANKS so much
Question, is there a specific size or resolution that open shot accepts? I'm trying to upload few images, some went through to project files, some didn't and I receive the message ""Image ----.jpg is not an image file or image sequence"" ,,, . All files are JPG /JPEG
Thank you for you vide. Could you please tell me how to delete original sound which belong to video? Thank you
Hi, Jonathan. Thanks for doing this. I downloaded a video file from my Pixel 6 camera and the video plays great on the camera. However, in OpenShot, the video sound seems to be sped up and I sound like a chipmunk. Am I doing something worng or is there something I can do to fix this?
Very informative. Easy to understand. Thanks a lot..
great Tutorial. Easy to understand and follow. Thanks Johnathan.
