The Basics Of Waxing Your Snowboard

A snowboard still works without wax but it works WAAAAAY better with a fresh coat on the base. In addition waxing your board goes beyond just speed, it can make your board easier to ride in general. Matt shows you the basics of an easy hot wax job to make sure your board is riding well no matter how fast you are riding.

    Just like scraping your board. Even though it’s a crappy job and it can take a while, you just need to breathe and take your time. And when you’re done you’ll feel soooo relieved!

    Some people strongly recommend to loosen/remove bindings to make the job easier and avoid dimples from the screws in the base while hot waxing.

  • @PeterGlennSports

    @PeterGlennSports

    5 ай бұрын

    Thats mainly for scraping the board. Any dimples in the base from over tightening the screws are 9 times out of 10 still going to be there slightly when you take the bindings off and you will still have to scrape into them with the corner of your scraper. So technically yes it will be a little easier to scrape but I personally don't think its worth the extra trouble. Up to you though.

    It seems to be faster to heat up the bar and then rub it than just to drip it. It also seems to spread it much more even. After that of course use the iron. Is that a good method?

  • @PeterGlennSports

    Depending on the heat it could be, but the time you save is minimal so up to you 👍

    Can you damage your base by scraping with too much pressure on the straight edge of the scraper?

  • @PeterGlennSports

    @PeterGlennSports

    6 ай бұрын

    I suppose you could but you would have to be putting an unusual amount of pressure on the base. It doesn’t take much to scrape the wax

    I don’t have the brush , is it ok ? My final step would be the scraper since I don’t have the brush and I’m going riding tomorrow.

    Yeah, you’ll be good. The buffing is a good thing to do but not a must. Having the board completely scraped it more important 👍

    Hey maybe when I try to send a video to my wife about how I need to wax my board can you say “you must buy a full wax kit to keep your board in good shape” how am I supposed to buy extra junk if videos say “you don’t need to get a wax iron” huh huh huh?

    HAHA, so random. I just saw that like 2 hours ago, I'm super skeptical about how effective it really is. We have a video going live on the 31st about "easy wax methods" that are still not as good as a hot wax, but good to use when theres a time constraint. I basically do the exact same thing in that video with a $50 wax iron instead of a $250 IR machine. 😆🤷‍♂
