Nothing wrong with getting back to basics. Lotta young kids have older cars that can have the radio swapped and in turn will turn them into car audio fans. For the future generations!

Truthfully I kinda pass on the idata/Audiocontrol/Audison (once in a blue moon) builds on the regular F150's or Wranglers. Its way too expensive for my taste and I've seen enough builds on this channel already. Funny enough the Kenwood radio itself is like $200-300 bucks.

Thanks to you guys, I was able to put an ILX-W650 with backup camera in 2005 4Runner. I learned about tesa tape, sound treatment and everything from your videos. I'm very happy with my system and have since upgraded the systems in my families Toyota's as well.

Great channel guys, your videos are always full of info. Any wireless Carplay/AA headunit preferences? I run a 4400NEX, and amazed that not too many installs put priority on 'wireless' Carplay/AA.

I can confirm what Dean said about the Airbag lights on Nissan. I installed a radio in my 2005 Altima and the airbag light came on cuz I unplugged the airbag status light on the dash. Car was still under warranty at the time, so thankfully the Nissan dealer reset it for me for free. Dodged a bullet with that one. Lol.

Nice basic install, but I got a question. What do you do with the “Parking brake light” wire? I’m curious as I’m getting ready to install a Boss Audio touchscreen into my 05 Kia Spectra with manual transmission and don’t want to tear apart the center console.

  • @asherdie

Run a power wire to it with a switch. Then you can trick the head unit into thinking the parking brake is on.

For kenwood headunits. Its a lime green wire. Just ground to any chassis metal in the dash. I think for Boss it uses a bypass harness like the Pioneer's. Its about $10-15 bucks.

I want to say, when you trim the tails off your zip ties.... _for the Love of God_ use a pair of flush nippers! Nobody ever said they love to reach their arm up inside a dash only to have razor sharp little hooks sticking out of the harness tear into their arm or the back of their hand while they're trying to get that nut started by the very tips of their fingers (without dropping it a zillion times) Those that know, *KNOW* ! And those that don't, don't give it a second thought (and _they suck!_ )

@@ricardomolina4605 Dean & Fernando are absolute professionals! This video is directed at "the basics of installing a new radio in your older car" I take that as if you're new at this, these are basic skills. We watch Dean snip those ties off, but he does it quickly, without mentioning that flush cutters are the only way to go. It's certainly not a criticism of them, but directed at new viewer who is learning "The basics" Sorry if it seemed otherwise.
