The purpose of school is just to help you pass the test to get your license. Kinda like driving school. Their main priority is to show you the basics and sanitation, but you will learn mostly by trial, error, and experience. I've had my license for 3 years now and I love watching these edicational video and I actually had a GREAT instructor! Good luck ladies!

I've watched a few acrylic tutorials now and all of them say "pick up a nice sized bead". This means nothing to someone trying to learn. Thank you so much for taking the time to not just explain what to do, but HOW to do it. A little bit of theory and technique go a long way.

Ok, I need to tell you this. I just did my own nails for the second time ever. I watched some other tutorials before i did it for the first time. Result: 4 brushes messed up, big lumps on my nails, needed almost an hour to file them all down to something halfway decent. flooded cuticles, some already lifted the same day. Cut myself twice while filing. Watched this yesterday. Pretty proud of my nails now. Not perfect, but pretty good for the second time. Brush still OK. No cuts, decent cuticles, filing done in minutes. Thank you so much! Seriously, thank you!

crucial information. some nail techs don't like DIY'ers bringing down the industry with shoddy work, not knowing the health and safety, stealing trade from those who have worked hard to qualify. I love that you help educate us so at least we're doing our own properly. you're video's have been very valuable to me. I've been doing my nails for 6 month's now. After my miscarriage my beautiful pregnancy nails disappeared, causing another reminder of my grief of looseing my little girl. so I decided to do something about it. now when I look at my nails, I see achievement, pride, creativity, a sense of purpose, a outlet, a hobby, a possible profession. it's helped me recover somewhat. you have helped aid that process. THANK YOU.

First of all, so sorry about your baby. Been there, It hurts! On to the topic of nails. If you can do your own in a safe, sanitary way-go for it. Please don't do anyone else's unless trained. It's really not about how they look. It's about safety and sanitation, honestly. That being said, if you enjoy it and feel you are talented, then by all means get training and make it your profession. We need talented people in the industry. You will gain a sense of pride in your profession and meet a lot of wonderful ladies. There are student loan programs . Don't be afraid. Go for it. A career and sense of purpose can really help in regaining yourself. I am opening a nail salon in the Phoenix, AZ area. USA. If you are interested, I will hire you right out of school and train you further. If you are not in my area, I'm sure others will give you an opportunity. Best of luck to you!

I've been qualified for three years and have noticed the past few months that I've been going through brushes too fast, but I could not seem to understand why. Now I know. I've not been cleaning my brush often enough in between bead application. Also, I wasn't taught in school the proper way to pick up a bead simply because my instructor did not know the proper way to pick up a bead. She used to drive me crazy swirling the tip of her brush into the powder! She never had the proper liquid to powder ratio and she never had a proper sized bead to show us anything! I literally sat in class and watched KZread nail videos to learn; a video like this would have made things so much easier for me back then! Thanks very much, Kirsty, you're an amazing teacher.

@@suzycrofts1428 you probably have too much monomer (liquid) in your brush, you need to drain it out by holding your brush to the top inside of your monomer container for a little bit, then picking up the bead a little bit faster (maybe), but we can't know for sure without seeing what you're doing

This is the absolute most helpful acrylic application tutorial I've seen. I recently started doing my own nails and this is the only youtube video (out of the hundred or more that i've watched) that gives details about bead size and wetness.

Thank you so much. I'm just learning, self-taught through youtube (only on myself you'll be relieved to hear). You have just answered every question about where I'm going wrong. They look alright in the end but it takes me about an hour and a half on average and then loads of filing. I am currently going through a new brush every application and soooooo much monomer. This will save me so much money. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

I truly appreciate the videos you do showing how you do what you do. I do not do nails professionally, but I do my own nails, and I am always looking for something new to do. I don't use much acrylic. But thanks to you, I want to try. I got started doing my nails because I wanted my natural nail to grow. I got gel polish & UV light and it helped to firm them up enough to grow on their own. I absolutely love my nails now, and I do new designs almost every 1-2 weeks. I love you designs and I am no where near as talented as you, but I have been able to use some of the techniques to get the desired look I wanted. Thank you for you time and effort and sharing what you do with all of us.

I watched this video about a week ago because i had major questions about what i was doing wrong. I'm completely self taught, so i assumed that was why. This was so helpful. Ive had acrylics for years and i used to go to a salon, but due to some health issues i lost my job and had to start dling my own again. This video is wonderful. I was confused at first, but applying what was taught was easy for me. My nails look better than i have ever done them before. Thank you so much for this video!
