The Basic Parts of a Car -EricTheCarGuy
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
"The Basic Parts of a Car" has actually been a long standing request to me, I was glad to be able to fill that request with this video. I will say that I didn't cover EVERYTHING but I feel this is a pretty good overview of the basic components of a modern car. Feel free to add your own input in the comments. Here are those video links I promised that may give you more in depth information.

Just in case you guys didn't know, you can actually take apart the basic parts of a manual transmission car in a video game called Car Mechanic Simulator. It's available on several platforms and is a great way to visually see the assembly of a car's brake system, suspension system, and of course engine (several types, including V4, V8, SOHC and DOHC). Careful though - it's addicting.

“Here are just the basic parts of a car.” *PROCEEDS TO BLOW MY FKING MIND*
You should make a video explaining general automobile parts, like what they are used for and what their purpose is in a vehicle. I recently got a job at NAPA Auto Parts and I only have basic knowledge about cars. I've been trying to find information about more complex auto parts and shit like that, and you're the only person on youtube that actually knows what they're talking about. If you could help me, that would be incredible.

You guys don’t need a dad or a dad that knows about cars to be a young car enthusiast. I’m one myself and my did could give 3 less shits about cars and I’m just totally in love with them! Anyone who has true and committed love for a vehicle will find out ways around a problem and that’s something y’all gotta do. I’m taking automotive class to inform myself better and i was surprised on how much information I knew. That class is my easiest class and I did it without help just my own research and looking into cars online and watching some car enthusiast channels and it takes a long time but car knowledge honestly comes with time it doesn’t just come in a second there’s a lot to learn about automotive industry. Wish you all the best of luck
The main reasons I wanna get into cars is because | 1. Cars are cool | 2. The mechanics I go to, dont fully help me with my car problems | 3. My parents say the same thing as 2 | 4. I want to add modifications via to my car(s)

Thank you so much for these videos! I've always loved cars since I was a small child in the 70's drooling over muscle cars. I always wanted to be an auto mechanic and work on cars, but since I'm a girl my family basically freaked out and did an, "over my dead body" on me so I wasn't allowed to further explore that interest. I am now 44 and still love cars and dream of being able to work on them. Thank you so much for making these videos so people like me can learn. :)

@@bigballs6944 the good thing in today's world is that we have internet, go to Reddit and you have various subreddits about cars and tons of people that will help you through the problems!
i’m currently in auto mechanics and i love working on cars but learning the theory is really hard for me. they always play really boring monotoned videos that i can’t pay attention to and they expect us to know a lot more than we do. i really appreciate these videos because i’m starting to lose my passion with working on cars so i’m really excited i found these videos that make it interesting again.
I can’t believe it took me lots of searching to finally find a good video that actually explains everything (I love cars but we’re never taught anything as well as I just want the common knowledge)
I really like how you get into all the jargon, and even go as far as to get into what you know about international jargon. Also, its great to have a medium-level description of things, where you get into a fair amount of detail about things but still keep it to the point. Great content, thank you!
My brother, his friends and I are all in high school and were buying cars and fixing them and re selling them for more than we payed. I'm a freshman and have only taken autos one and I only know a few things about the engine so I'm just fixing the interior of the cars but they all take advanced autos and know exactly how to fix the problems. I'm trying to learn the components of the car so I can help them figure out whats going on or whatever may be happening on my own and this video is helping out a lot! Thank you very much!

Great video. I've been working on my own cars for a little while but didn't know some of the names of parts so this is great. So far have done shocks, breaks, wheel bearings, and other general maintenance and not only do I have fun doing it but have saved my family $1000's since I've learned more about cars. This is possibly the greatest use of KZread is diy home repairs/car repairs. Knowledge is power.
Thanks Eric, I really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into making these videos. I've learned a ton in only two days. Keep up the great work!
Doing an Automotive Program at my college, and gotta say your video's help me greatly! Thanks and keep on doing what your doing Eric, your helping lots of people..
You make the best how-to videos. You don't miss a detail and make it easy to understand. You don't skip any steps that you would just expect someone to understand, even if its a minor detail, you go over it. I'd like to just say thank you for the interesting videos, and I'm actually learning something of value yet it keeps me interested and not lost.
Thank you for the videos!! I've always wanted to learn about cars, and someday get into a garage, but no one wants to even take the time to explain the basics. And you do a great job of breaking things down.
Love this video. With numerous car review & car repair videos, it can be tricky finding videos that talk about basic car knowledge for beginners. Appreciate it!
You are the GREATEST. Thanks for your dedication, intelligence, and time to share these educational videos with us. You are officially my KZread automotive instructor. God Bless
Love the channel, extremely informative. I'm starting my first day at a tech in an hour and I've been up all night watching your videos. I feel very confident know! 10/10 would recommend.
In the UK we call the package tray a parcel shelf. Vids are great, keep up the good work!
I'm 16, trying to learn how to drive, and with that, I'm also interested in learning how cars work and maybe even learning enough about mechanics to fix my own (future) car if needed. I'm glad there's videos like this out there, I have a bunch of different videos lined up in a playlist to help get even at least the gist of things but I'm not expecting to become a prodigy overnight lol. Hopefully, despite this video being made in 2012 watching this and some other videos along with help from friends and family over time, I can acquire some knowledge in mechanics, I did the same thing with guns but even then I'm far from a master or gunsmith lol. Thanks for the video, I'm hoping I can learn from this, as one of your commenters said: "I really appreciate people like this who put their knowledge and years of experience out on to youtube so we can all learn from one another" -Josh Qaszq.
Eric. You are definitely the car guy for drivers like me who were/are clueless to what is under the hood. I was captivated for the entire 36 minutes and tried my best to keep up with your rapid but clear descriptive modulated exciting speech. (I will rewatch and pause and be ready for pop quiz!) Seriously, Thank you so much. Like the rest of your audience here- We feel better after watching and learning. After so many years of driving and not knowing the basics (too embarrassed to say how many) I am no longer afraid to look under the hood :o) Thanks for the links for more auto knowledge. Happy Holidays! to all.

My training at Midas was basically look for any dash lights, check the fluids and make sure they are full, test battery, check air filter, check hoses. Then lift it and check the suspension and tire tread/wear, then check the brakes, then look for any leaks / look at exhaust. And then proceed with whatever the customer needs. (Oil change, brakes, tires, battery, etc.)

Great video, very informative! I had always wondered the official name for that shelf behind the rear seats. In my family we always called it a "laughing place." Apparently, back in the days before modern auto safety standards, when my mom and/or her brother would get bored on long road trips, they would lay across that shelf and my grandpa would tell them jokes, so... laughing place. I still call it that sometimes and my wife looks at me like I'm insane lol

I’m a female college student& just got a car; most of my college friends who drive know nothing about cars which is I find messed up. I’m studying pre medicine, but I find the car internal really interesting although everything is new and looks foreign to me!! Thank you for this.
When you're learning car terminology across two languages videos like yours are extremely useful!
This is one of the best videos you'll ever see in KZread on cars...

Same in Ireland. Quite helpful when you're curious about another car's year that you might see on the road. Ah and for the person saying that you can loose it, it doesn't make much of a difference since there's other places you can find information like that too on your car.
Very basic vehicle from 94' still has air con and ABS?
