    WOW! This is AMAZING! You know when I was younger I thought I was so weird for being obsessed with arcade machines + claw games like I was the only person in the world. I have my own house now living by myself, and while I have about 7 or 8 different machines scattered throughout my house, it's NOTHING compared to this! Amazing! Makes me want to fill my house up with even more stuff now!!! :D

    First awesome, Man Cave meets arcade in a era that can;t be meet anymore. Also amazing skill's fixing those arcade machines, just takes myself back seeing those all lit up in the vid on the tube. When i was younger you would dream about those pixel graphics and wonder where they would take you playing the game and think about the movie tron you had seen in the 80's, you wondered if they were all running around and giving them the last chance for there bytes. Thanks for the memories, I take my hat of to you Sir, I live in Brisvegas Australia but wish you were my neighbour.. Awesome :) :) :) :)

    Actually, it does not use the web flash version or raspPI. Disney built about 50 of these and had the code custom written in Visual C++. They were used to promote the Wreck It Ralph movie upon release. Being that they built around 50 of these and no more, us collectors had to build our own cabs. This cab is running the original Disney written code.

    I really miss arcades in the US... even shitty games were fun as hell to play there. I love all the external controls like aiming a gun or using a wheel + pedals + those levers. Console gaming is great today though arcades were just so much more social and fun with friends. Even those dancing games or fighting games were more fun in arcades. Nintendo has been trying to bring some of that back to homes with the wii and wii u but its just not the same. My top reason for why I want to frequently visit japan in the future as I hear theyre still huge in arcades. Im 19 btw so i come from a different time but man are arcades great.

    There was definitely a social aspect as well as the physical experience of an arcade atmosphere and unique/custom controls. There was also something about walking up and watching a complete stranger play a game with expertise, or having several individuals you never met before watch you play. For that moment you were your own superstar with an audience. I do miss it, which is why I've recreated the experience and have frequent game day events :)

    This is very impressive. Hat's off to you, sir! I have to know, how in the world do you dissipate heat in that room? Didn't see many vents or ventilation down there. I had to install a whole new HVAC system in my basement just to cool off a home theater system entertaining a dozen people.

  • @thebasementarcade

    @thebasementarcade

    9 жыл бұрын

    stabgod Good question, and it did take me time to get things figured out. The basement is naturally cooler at least at my location which helps1. There are 3 small egress windows which can't be seen well but are located just above some of the arcade machines around the basement. In the cooler months and winter, when things warm up during an extended game day I open the egress windows and cool or cold air starts to pour in pretty quickly.2. I switched all lights from halogen to 100W CFL's so the lights don't cook everyone (It did with halogens for a few years). I chose 100W CFL's which put out 1500 lumens so it puts out just as much light as the halogens did.3. I do have 3 vents located in the arcade ceiling, they were tapped from the existing AC system. I found out it didn't push as much air as I had hoped. A few years back I upgraded the blower fan to the highest rating for my system. This allowed cold air to get pumped down there faster. I've never had a humidity issue or frozen coils which can happen by messing with the "formula" for fan ratings. A few times in 100 degree weather with 40 people down there, I had to close some upstairs vents which diverted more of the AC system pumping into the basement. That half of the house has a 3 ton unit, the other half of my house which doesn't have the arcade uses a 2.5 ton unit. Those units were already with the house, I didn't add any new ones.4. Finally, I found that the existing vents for the AC system in the whole house weren't efficient. Some of the cool air was being pumped into the subfloor. I fixed all leaks in the AC vents by using commercial aluminum foil tape.

    I love Starcade. You will even catch me watching a few seconds of it in my Rock Dad & The Vintage Vault Arcade - Episode 4. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ept8zc6fepCcaJM.html

    Awesome. Nostalgia overload. Brilliant layout. Love that bar, the jukebox, pacman fever. Probably my favorite feature is that Pepsi machine in the hallway! Cool arcade.
