You don't want to bother with the difficult, harder choice of doing the work to resolve things properly, so you choose to murder instead. It rarely ever fixes the underlying cause, and you'll probably only create a martyr for future problems as a result. So yes, reluctance to murder is a strength, and is an important theme in Game of Thrones too.

There's a lot of parallels to end of season 1 of Game of thrones, Rhaenys being told to swear fielty to the new king while being imprisoned kinda like Ned stark and her walking in Kingslanding amongst the crowd, being lead like a commoner to the coronation kinda like Arya and the ominous feeling you had through all that knowing some hell was about to break loose, felt so nostalgic. I can't wait for the finale of this season because I know it's gonna be REALLY good next week.

I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the sense of treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as a "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It's more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble. *Jokes aside, Tfw u only support our Green Lives Matter King for extermination of Strong Boys cause ur pro Valeryian blood supremacy.*

Nicholas II. Good comparison. If one seeks scenes of dreadful, beautiful fatalism, one need only open a history book (a trick GRRM certainly makes use of). Not to be weird but I checked out your channel and wanted to say that Queen Anne's Lace dessert looked heavenly. Did you make it? -From one history fan to another

At the time of watching the episode I thought Alicent is just casually relaxing her feet and is completely unaware of what Larys was doing, lol

Lord Commander Westerling does not have time for any bullshit and that is why he is one of my favorite character in the show. I wish they would give him some screentime to show him just how badass he is. I'm not asking for much. I'm just asking for a bit more than just having him sit in the background. Freaking Cristen Cole have too many scenes that just makes me more and more infuriated by his presence.

The crowning ceremony was a visual historygasm, finally befitting a king in got verse. The actors for Otto, Alicent, Aegon did a great job. And that "window in the wall of your prison" was an all time line. "everything you feel for me…as your queen." I can't handle that level of palpable sexual tension lol. Ironic cause in a way they are the cersei and jaime of this show lol. the last 3 mins aside,i thought this was an excellent episode. it felt like a white house political thriller with a "race against time" feel from start to finish suspense. When Otto was moving the chess pieces, Beesbury yelling..I was on the edge of my seat. I knew how good it was when it had reactors already coping for compeuppance lol. Tom Glynn-Carney showed excellent range as Aegon.

Jaime Lannister is one of the greatest characters in modern fiction imo, no one comes close & that's on George, not HoTD. But yeah, you're absolutely right about the value system. Which is why I DON'T want them to hook up. Which means more teases like this. Think of the 7 seasons worth of Jaime-Brienne teases. That slowburn is better than any makeout scene. I don't want Alicole to hook up ever. I just want them to give secksually repressed stares at each other. I want them to be star crossed lovers forever.
