When my sister died, I didn’t cry. At the funeral I didn’t cry. As we left the cemetery, this song was on the radio, I remember looking out of the back window of the car and realizing that we were just leaving her there all alone. That is when I started to cry.

+Jordan White I had a major operation years ago and I was assigned a one to one nurse to take care of me after I came out of intensive care, that nurse was the spitting image of the singer and weirdly enough she used to sing the bangles songs while she was working around and even more weird, she sounded like her, she had a lovely voice.

Although Susanna got most of the attention from Columbia, she is not the lead singer. She is always quick to point that out in interviews if she is referred to as such. The band never has had a lead singer.

That's how Columbia made it look. They would hand pick songs in which she sang lead and prominently display her in their videos. If you went to their live shows, it would be like you're seeing a totally different band.

Do you feel the "same". None of the covers could sound out "same" like Susanna. That's why she's superstar material.
How can any man not fall in love with Susanna after hearing this? Beautiful woman, beautiful voice.
A talented group of women who could all sing and actually played their instruments. Always respected the Bangles

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling Do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand? Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming? Is this burning an eternal flame? I believe it's meant to be, darling I watch when you are sleeping You belong with me Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming? Or is this burning an eternal flame? I was blazing in some of that good Sour Tangie and then this songs rhythm hit me on the dome, and now here I am. Tears in my eyes, remembering my Youth, so many mistakes and so many errors. And yet, these hard and tragic moments are the very triumphs that make life so beautiful. This song is my story and Yours also.
This song was a number one hit, beautiful lyrics almost like an anthem. Some radio stations still plays this song as part of the 80's and 90's hits.
This song is timeless. Eternal. 🦋

Call me old, but the 80's put out some timeless classic. A simpler time and place and good music, good memories.
@fish-fy5sh
3 жыл бұрын
i'm not trying to be mean, but the 80s only *seem* like a simpler time because you're looking at thing retrospectively. they were in fact not simpler times than the times right now. people dealt with just as many hardships. you only remember the good memories of things long ago.
@davidmariopratt
3 жыл бұрын
@@fish-fy5sh That is a true statement, however time is not linear, and when people are speaking from personal experiences, such as @Sophos Senor, things might have been simpler. People will continue to say the past was simpler because yes we love to reflect on the positive experiences, and yet, what if that person was living a simple life with out the hardship of a divorce, or searching for a life purpose, and the only agenda was to go to school, be cool, and live life to the best of their experience at that time.... Where as in contrast, someone else on some other spot on the planet was going through something massive, such as surviving behind the Iron Curtain of the Soviet Union... See it is all speculative upon ones experience... And everybody's experience is totally valid.. Including yours! See we each have a certain perspective from our lives as we live them, and it seems arbitrary to say anything can be the absolute truth. Just my thoughts... Of course what I say is not the absolute truth... rather another perspective among many.. and that is what keeps the human race so interesting..

I miss the fade out on songs that these classics have!
I saw the Bangles in 1988 live. I went with my girlfriend at the time. My eternal flame, Jamie, was in the row right behind me. I was mortified that she was right behind us. I didn't say anything to her, my heart was going a million miles an hour. She broke up with me a year before and I had to move on. But, I love her nearly 30 years later and can't help but think of her when I listen to The Bangles.

This is also the songtrack of my first love. I was 8 years old and I remember the first time I saw her, with details that I won't bother mentioning. I moved a lot back then because of my fathers work, and we only lived close for 2 years max. Haven't seen her since I was 17, and that was the only time I visited my old neighborhood. By that time I moved on and had a girlfriend, but she looked so beautiful! Now at 35 I caught myself thinking of her, found her thanks to google, and she has never been so beautiful! Doesn't matter now, I won't contact her, she probably doesn't even remember me! I never told her my feelings, that I regret! But she'll always be my first love and I'll never forget her.

"Eternal Flame" is a song that speaks of deep and eternal love. The lyrics describe the special connection between two people who share an unbreakable bond. The song suggests that this love transcends time and space, and that the presence of the loved one is comforting even in the darkest moments. Throughout the song, there is an expression of the desire for this connection to last forever, like an eternal flame that never fades. The soft melody and emotive lyrics make "Eternal Flame" an anthem to enduring love and the hope of finding a true and lasting connection in life.

The last minute and a half of this song is pure pop perfection with all 4 Bangles' voices blending together- still gives me goosebumps all these years later.
I think many people have their own memories with this song, but I just recently found out The Bangles where inspired by the eternal flame that is burning at Graceland for the late Elvis Presley and since more then a year also for his late daughter Priscilla. May they both rest in peace.
Lets pray for the people who are still searching for this song :(
