Thats the Strat Robbie played at The Last Waltz ! He had the candyapple red colour scraped off and changed into a bronze coloured guitar ,which is now R&R gold dust . The Band ....their musicality was unrivalled .

I was seated to the left of the stage. I think I spent half of The Band's set looking for my boyfriend who we were unable to rendezvous with after driving down separately from Yorkshire. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. I really only went to see Joni Mitchell but did enjoy The Band and CSN&Y.

I was at that concert. CSNY headlining and Joni Mitchell on the bill. What a line up. It was a big deal at the time . First time Wembley had been used for a large outdoor concert. No giant screens. Just great weather and superb musicians. 1974 GREAT MEMORIES

The Band's cocaine and drinking use was legendary and most bands were stoned during most performances, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse. Just appreciate that legends like this was captured on film and you have the ability to dig them all these decades later, warts and all.

@@johnjoyner6247 The crowd were waiting for C,S,N and Y. The Band's sound was grungy compared to the other acts. I was there for The Band but Joni Mitchell and LA Express was the standout set that day. I saw The Band 3 years before at Albert Hall. They were awesome that night.

@@TheFallenColumn I believe if you look VERY CAREFULLY toward the riser in the background during the opening bars of "Mystery Train" in the LW movie, you'll get a glimpse of Richard playing drums. It's pretty dark during the shot and it's been awhile, but I believe the footage is there.

Mr McGoo Being a long time fan of The Band I'm quite familiar with this dispute. In fact it's almost impossible to avoid it even if I wanted to focus on more positive legacy. But I choose to believe John Simon (producer & engineer of the first two LPs as you know) who have stated that Robertson wrote the chords and lyrics of those songs he's credited for. Everybody was involved in arrangements, that's for sure.

@@panhirvonen9195 Yeah, it's ancient history and gets in the way of the music. Levon's main beef, in his book, written after he had fallen out with Robbie, was that he had written some of the lyrics of "The Weight", but was not credited as co-writer.

Finally, video of Genetic Method/Chest Fever! Unfortunately, this was not in the "The Last Waltz" (otherwise a pretty definitive record of the Band at their best). Turns out as Scorsese recounts they had to keep the cameras from overheating and could not have them on full time for that long a concert, and unfortunately that segment pulled the short straw. Having seen them perform this at the Academy of Music for the Rock of Ages show I can attest that this was one of the true high points of the concert.

i think playing traditional grip can really create a bad blister between the thumb and pointer finger because of the way you strike. he ended up wearing a glove to reduce the irritation. he eventually switched to match grip late in his life.

I'm assuming that you are American. I've written a letter of complaint to The Orange Fart, on behalf of us dancing Brits. I was there dancing that day. It was the hottest day in London that summer and my beloved Band were on when it was steaming. C,S,N and Y, were on in the cool of the evening. I went to see The Band, but Joni Mitchell and the L.A. Express were superb. It takes 2 to tango when you begin the beguine. Stay safe.
