    For any kid who grew up in the 70's, the Pizza Hut scene is 100% realistic. PH was THE go-to place after all little league games. The kids got a slice, the parents got a beer.

    BNB came out when I was 14; I watched it again about 2 weeks ago, after not seeing it for years, and that ending with Brandon Cruz and Vic Morrow?? Amazing. The movie STILL holds up. Perfectly cast, perfect encapsulation of what 1970s kids sports was like. And Kelly-freaking-Leak, the GOAT.

    Came out my first eligible year playing LL at 8 years old so connected with this movie right away. First game of season for Bears and Reggie thinks it’s a force and doesn’t tag the guy and his father screams “you gotta tag him dummy!!!” That cracks me up every time because back then it was totally real.

    1976 was my first eligible year in little league at 8yo here in north NJ. Parents watching with mini coolers with beers. Coaches smoking butts in the dugout. After the season our coach taking us to Yankees Stadium and sitting in the RF bleachers!!! No parents!!! Just the head coach and the assistant. Mind blowing to think of now.

    1:00:15 In 1976 I was 12 and in L.A. little league. They did have limits on how many innings you could pitch per week. I was the only halfway decent pitcher on my team and we lost our playoff game because I had played too many innings.

    Why are they contemplating what Kelly’s family life is like? He’s watched Part 2. William Devane is his dad.He lives in Houston. Kelly’s relationship with his father and how he left is one of the major storylines of the movie. How do neither of them remember this?

    I understand why the Ringer is putting all this content on KZread, but the podcasts are 10x better with the audio clips. Also, I’m cool with Van about half the time, but this Rewatchable needed to have an All-Star lineup. CR, Cousin Sal, Jacoby, etc. It’s a good Rewatchable. Could have been great, though.

Ronald Reagan’s portrayal of George Gip covers most of your categories all the way from overacting, apex moment, introduction, and the famous monologue. Just my thoughts. This episode is the most REWATCHABLE of the Rewatchable franchise. 💪💪💪👍👍👍

  • @exprezzion
    @exprezzion6 күн бұрын

    Burnouts take: Producer Craig shows times have-a-changed! To be good today in sports you probably require coachability to get anywhere. The coaches probably aren't drunk retired vets settling old scores on children's psyches. In the old days coaching was very bogus and aggressive and anyone that grew up fast and became a young man as a kid would not be feeling it. Every town had like half the good athletes become the druggy burnouts and they were the naturally muscular and fast kids whether white, black, or otherwise, rich or poor, in the old days there were a lot of rebels and druggies because they could go get laid and paid and have powerful motor vehicles and freedom to abuse. In the suburbs of NJ where we grew lots of good athletes the three best kids when we were young all became burnouts that didn't and probably couldn't play into HS/college when the hard workers with some talent catch up and keep going.

    Also… when I think of this movie, I think of “Diggstown” Just stop! Just stop it when you (Simmons) say you’re eventually going to do this obscure movie on The Rewatchables to appease Van. It’s comical how much Simmons tries here. I GUARANTEE “Diggstown” will never be a Rewatchable… in the next 5 years. It’s painful and pathetic listening to Bill trying to be “cool”

    OF COURSE 14 minutes in, we’re talking about “Above the Rim”????? And a shootout literally and figuratively. Simmons feels that he has to bring black culture into ANY MOVIE that is involved when Van is a participant. It’s unnecessary. This is a ‘70s movie about little kids and a drunk coach involving his ex’s little girl because he knew she could win him this championship. But, of course, race is involved. I just can’t do it anymore. Maybe I’m racist. Idk 🤷🏻‍♂️. I just prefer to listen to what the movie is actually about. Sorry
