The first film I saw her in was blue jasmine and she was phenomenal. Definitely one of the best actors alive. Whenever asked my favourite female actor, it's always Cate Blanchett and Daniel Day-Lewis is my favourite male actor. Unfortunately most people my age don't even know their names and haven't really seen any films with either of them. They're far more likely to know Johnny Depp or Robert Downey Jnr because they were big when we were younger for being in those comic-book films. It's a real shame because they're missing out on some amazing films. As a film buff, the rise of these Marvel/DC films is disappointing to say the least. On the flip-side, at least my generation has been old enough to appreciate some of the amazing TV series produced in the past 10 years.

what I love about this is that in this movie if you are a fan of her, She was not acting. This character was her. Tough woman, proud, sensitive, hard working, brilliant, intellectual, smart, beautiful and this masculine feminine attitude makes her more of woman complete. She indeed can equal men but she is not looking for that! Nooo she is just being a woman who knows exactly her dreams, what she is willing to settle or make a deal... and when to get out at any price... and she does not fit in the woman standard world because she is different. Not every man can handle her not even Howard Hughes cuz She is no puppet for any man Hahaha 😂😂This line explained all: " So much of Howard Hughes... in Howard Hughes" She wants a room for her there right next to her Love Howard Hughes not being with him like a shadow. I truly adore this woman, she is Brilliant!!! 🌹🌹

Sofia Randal I think it’s intentionally evoking some old Hollywood romanticism and melodrama. To emphasize how “larger than life” his real life was. Plus, a lot of Martin Scorsese’s films sometimes have campy and over the top elements to them. But I feel like it’s always done with a wink and intention.

I know that there are, "sources," claiming to know the truth. However, I read some of them, and I know that one is the one listed in the Mercury News is a liar and false. He makes claims about other people who are known to be very much in love, and it's recorded by other more reliable sources elsewhere. I have a very open mind, but this is trash.

Are you saying Howard Hughes was "unscrupulous"? Maybe he was. Was Tiger Woods "unscrupulous"? Maybe. Certainly with the cheating thing, but I think he got the money fair and square with the golf thing. Sitting from the sidelines though, it seems to me if a guy has a billion dollars he has to beat the beautiful women off with a stick and it doesn't really matter how he got the money or whether or not he is married. We don't hear about Tiger's sex life in the news anymore, that storm has passed, but do you think he's having trouble getting dates? You did say "Great women" though, so you're probably right. The examples I'm citing are probably not "great women". However all we have to do is examine a few memoirs of rock stars, and if we can take them at their word, scruples have nothing to do with it. Money and fame do. I would agree not for the "great women" though, I don't think you'd see them on the groupie list. And men are no better. Anyone who has had a bike stolen or worse knows that. Sure women have been caught on camera stealing packages but most violent and property crime is committed by men. This is why, if you have a teenage child and you are going to be away, you must make it exactly clear what will happen if they have a party. Their friends are going to drink all the alcohol in the house and steal all the movies and video games, including the counsels. And they'll probably break a bunch of stuff. The police will come. And these are their friends. That's how people are. Give them a chance and better than half of them will act like a bunch of chimpanzees.

sawadee They did talk like that in the Connecticut upper class, and Katherine came from that background. She had private tutors in her childhood. She did not attend school (that was how the North Eastern well-to-do did things at that time). I am sure they influenced her speech pattern.

@@dashcammer4322 i think Kate had problems accepting that with Howard she was not the 'better' one. Howard was the one who was funding her films and she was reduced to being one of many actresses. When she was with Spencer Tracy she could pretend to be more than a sidepiece. Howard knew how to put her in her place.
