They move Mr. Hughes! They're clouds! They move! That's what they doooooo!!
Goddammit! Ever since I saw this film I'm obsessed with that jacket leo is wearing. Great Cinematography by the way.

I tried to find it and it is a custom made jacket as far I can tell. There are a few European leather jacket companies that make this type of jacket, with buttons or zipper for the flap, but they are very pricey. I believe it was around $1200 for the jacket, and it was a custom jacket that had to be fitted and months spent making it.

I was drinking everything in and not noticed the jacket. Now I have to watch it again.😅
I loved the professor in this film and the many hats Howard had him wear.
"Yes! God damn it man! Yes! Clauds een Oaklandt!"
As lifelong Houstonian myself, I take great pride in knowing one of the greatest Americans of the 20th century hailed from the city I’m from. In fact my grandfather is buried roughly 200ft away in the same cemetery as Howard Hughes, been to his gravesite a couple times. Absolutely Houston and American legend.
Gorgeous color work here...
I've seen this movie tons of times, but never really noticed that Howard says "don't get all jittery on me" almost as if to foreshadow what is to come for Howard.
It was so cool to shoot the first act of this film on two-strip Technicolor. Such a unique look
Movie magic…
The color grading they used in this scene is badass.
It's brilliant the acting. Noah being the numbers guy is still infatuated with Howard's life. Sure Hell's Angels is a money pit, but Noah can only smile at how big and exciting of a production it is. There was nobody in the US like Howard Hughes at the time.
Loved this scene. I can understand how angry Hughes was at 01:19; $5,271 *a day* to keep those planes on ground I'd be equally livid.

@Onion Head And yet in today's dollars, his total Hells Angels budget would be about 60 odd million. Kinda incredible isn't it? That's well south of most blockbuster budgets.

@@writerconsidered that is a problem, but the thing was that all of his movie planes and air crews actually made up the world's largest privately-owned airfield at the time.

YOU FIND ME SOME GODDAMN CLOUDS!!
Dude: 'welcome to hells angels!' Professor Cloud: [jumps, wipes glasses]: 'Fuck youuuuu...'
Hughes had the largest film archive of professional fighter pilots dogfighting. A great American!

It was a nice little foreshadowing. Like when he kept saying “ show me all the prints” and “the way of the future” over and over

The colour is kinda weird in this movie, especially when Hughes crashes into the beet field and when him and Hepburn are golfing.

apparently it replicates the colour film of the time period.
I’ve made most of the observations other commenters made as I’ve seen this film dozens of times over the years. But lately, every time I see a MIRAMAX film; I.E, the Weinstein Bros up until 2006, I wonder which actresses in all those films were on the casting couch and just remained silent. Aviator was made in 2004.
I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy who says clouds move

California has a thing called the California current that runs along its coast. Cold water coming from the arctic doesn’t evaporate and don’t turn into clouds. Giving California it’s beautiful weather
