The Avett Brothers from North Carolina are a four-piece-band, but for an intimate acoustic performance the brothers Scott and Seth Avett played two songs for us. The band formed in 2000 and sells out shows all over the world since their very successful 2009 album "I and Love and You". This song is called "Laundry Room".

About a year and a half into service in the military, my mom asked what I was going to do when I get back. I waited a week to reply. Told her I was buying a guitar and a Harley, growing a beard and a soul, and traveling until I outrun time.

After all the time that's past... this really IS one of the most beautiful song ever written. This version, this performance in particular draws out so much emotion. Even if you already know how powerful it is, it's like watching the end of Hoosiers, or Rudy for the millionth time... it STILL grabs you by the boo boo and hangs on for a while. You kno it's coming yet you cannot stop the goosebumps from forming nor the tear that is being produced. Thank you as always Seth and Scott. And let me single out Mr. Joe Kwon. Truly fantastic. Cheerz!

My (now) husband bought me The Carpenter album on our first date because he knew how much I love the Avett Brothers and it had been released just days before. We listened to the whole thing through in his car and then I played this song off YT as it was my favorite at the time. When we got out of the car to kiss goodbye I saw a shooting star, we wished on it and the rest is history. We'll be married for four years this October. 😊😉

I feel like the Avett Bros less popular stuff is so incredibly good. I've never been a fan of, say, 'I and Love and You', not that its a bad song by any means, just doesn't resonate with me. But I can listen to something like Laundry Room or Ten Thousand Words on repeat. Maybe it's because I'm from the south and unconsciously drawn to the twang of a banjo? Not sure what is but these guys are magic. Seeing them for 3 shows at Red Rocks in 2020.

LOL ... And just when you get used to them looking a certain way, look up again &they have morphed again. But they always look the same to me ... BEAUTIFUL. I say that because I refer to their shining, glowing spirits. Seth is the younger, the taller of the two. Scott sometimes reminds me of the classic depictions of Jesus ... And I know, you are probably being facetious. :) But I am just so enthusiastic about them & have a hard time finding others to talk to about them ... so I come here. lol

Thank you for this. The respect and listening from doctors is so crucial. I’m not sure if I have lbd, but I’m dealing with several of these issues. My second neurologist did that 30 question test, which I knew I’d be able to handle, though my fog that day was terrible. She said I do not have dementia (I can see where my symptoms may not be severe), and that my brain is healthy (my symptoms make that difficult to believe). She won’t see me again for a year (8 months left, with multitasking and movements a little harder to perform). It’s been frustrating to not be believed

I never get tired of listening to their music. I like the old songs and the newer ones. But nothing compares to seeing them live. If you haven't seen them, then check their tour schedule and go ASAP !

I thought the same thing when I saw the other video filmed in that park that day ... The Salvation Song, when I noticed someone casually walking in the background. I thought to myself, my God, I would be like a rodent and they the Pied Piper of Hamlin ! I have been under their spell since the first time I heard them on the radio with "I & Love & You." Little did I know what a slick trick THAT song was, for truly, I love the song, I do, but it is NOTHING compared to the body of work overall ! :)

How is it that I don't think I've ever really enjoyed their studio album stuff, but I can't get enough of these little sessions like this wherever they crop up?

Nanci Griffith, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Orange Mandolin, John Prine. Steve Goodman, Kris Krustifferson, Townrs Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Steve Earle....you may have a lot of these people already well represented. I am new here. Thanks for this awesome Playlist. The Avett Brothers are among my very favorite current musicians. Oh, one more - Leonard Cohen.
