The Avengers Had KIDS And It RULED | NEXT AVENGERS

Ойын-сауық

In 2008, Lionsgate's Marvel Animated movies dropped another banger, this one called Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow! A pretty much all original story, the film follows James Rogers and the children of the Avengers as they do battle against Ultron, and lemme just say... this movie might really hit you with nostalgia.

Thor sees time differently. He’s immortal, and he was immortal for thousands of years before he ever met the Avengers. We see him talk to Cap in the comics about how, in the relative of his own life, he’s really only known Steve Rogers for about a minute, and Steve will be dead and gone before Thor even knows it. Human concerns don’t work the same way for Thor. Edit (7 months later): I've found the exact quote, from Thor #15 in 2020. I thought I'd add it here, for further context. It is as follows: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thor: "Captain... let me ask you a question... When was the last time we saw each other?" Cap: "What? I don't understand..." Thor: "Humor me." Cap: "We fought against Knull and his armies. We faced the Phoenix Force. We... I'm sorry, Thor, I don't understand. Why do you ask?" Thor: "Because I don't. I don't remember. I never do. You see... immortality... it comes with a price. A moment for you... a battle, a war, a minute, a day... they are remembered as seconds for me. I remember them as a mortal would recall what he had for breakfast a year ago..." "It is why... why I am always so grateful to see you... you and the others... My perception of time... Each time I return to Midgard... to fight by your side... I am always so very glad that you are all still alive. I have..." "I have lost so many here... And I have missed their passing... Missed their entire lives -- entire lifetimes while I was out playing soldier for my father amongst the realms..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The rest isn't especially relevant to the topic, and more about how he's losing access to Mjolnir at this point in the comic's storyline. Later in the conversation though, he does say this: "I have come here to tell you that I will live a thousand years and a thousand lifetimes more." It's not a matter of Thor not caring, he just genuinely doesn't experience things the same way we do. I admit, I don't think I really remembered it properly, but a lot of the things I said in the initial comment still apply.

About Hawkeye Junior leading the survivors, he very much seemed like the oldest of the kid Avengers. Pym being the youngest around maybe 11, Azari somewhere in the middle around 13 James and Torunn being probably 14, and Barton seemed more like 16 seeing as he flirts with Torunn. He sounded and looked just a bit older but not *too* much older. And living in a post-apocalypse metallic city would mature you faster in certain ways to be able to survive. That along with obviously having some of the skills of his father clearly make him qualified to lead despite being younger than the other survivors.

The thing about Ultron is that he ALWAYS has a backup plan and never stays down for long. It's entirely possible that he's been beaten before in the past perhaps even by Hawkeye and Hulk. Banner likely knew that this victory was a short-lived one and so choose to retreat with Betty to find a new place to lie-low. It's possible that Thor was also biding his time waiting for a better chance to intervene or gave up after trying to defeat Ultron for years with no real success. The kids would almost 100% be forced to face him again. I know the tone of the finale is fairly positive but even a cursory knowledge of what it means to be fighting an AI means that this is only the tip of the iceberg for them.

I always had that same thought about Thor leaving Humanity to die. But recently, after he truly became King of Asgard in the comics, gained extra power Galactus, fought Knull all of that. He sat Down with Cap and said "How long has it been since we last fought together? Was it knull? Was it something else?" And he explains that although The Avengers are some of the people he cares about the most... they are just people. They will eventually die of old age and he will be left without them. He explains that as an Immortal Being who has lived for eons. He relishes every time he comes to earth because time is not the same for him. He never truly knows if the last time he was earth, is the last time he'll see his friends. And when I realized that's how Thor sees it, this movie breaks my heart. Maybe he let humanity die. Hell, maybe he even did it because he didn't think he could beat Ultron and he couldn't let Ultron find a way to Asgard. Whatever the case may be, he left his daughter with the people he trusted most assured she would one day find him. And then he leaves, only to look back and realizes the people he loves most, are gone. Thor may be a god, but I doubt even he could mentally handle that when it happened. I don't forgive this Thor for leaving humanity to die. But I can understand it just a little bit better now.

Man this movie was great in my childhood and still great now. Also a couple of fun facts that I might’ve figured out about James Rogers and Azari. His name “James” could be a reference to Bucky aka the Winter Soldier since his real name is James Bucanon Barnes. So maybe Steve decided to name his son after his best friend which is awesome. As for Azari, the reason he has electricity powers on top of the Black Panther ones, is because his mother happened to be Storm from the X-men. And yes, this is peak Ultron. This was the Ultron I actually wanted the MCU to do.

The ending was good, I honestly think that, I loved it, but it could be would be perfect if it didnt *end* there, the kids getting a reality check on how big the world is, not only motivating them to become the next avengers but also to get stronger and stronger, even more powerful than the previous generation to not lose to the likes Ultron again, an ending like that is perfect, (plus it would be kinda of bullshit if the kids managed to defeat the ultron after hulk lost), but it just ended there. There is no sequel to show us the pay-off for this set-up (the kids not managing to get their first victory, motivating them to become better), specially since Ultron is not the type to just go out like that, bro's got a backup plan to the backup plan of a backup plan, so him showing up again on a sequel would totally be possible, he would've probably already uploaded his main "brain" to a computer and have even his strongest body (the one they fought) only be a decoy. His return after our heroes having already matured would be amazing, to put in perspective their growth, he could come back with a whole army too, it would be *perfect* to show how far our heroes have come, from not being able to defeat him alone, to being able to taken on Ultron + an army by themselves, without Hulk around this time, all the cards and tools are there, they could've made it happen, and the way this movie ended would be the start of it... except this ended up never happening and it never will :( Missed ass opportunity, all the tools are in the table, they just needed to be used. The ending was good, but it could be even better

I agree with you on Ultron. A cold, menacing, emotionless, robot who actually scared me a little when I was kid and is actually my favorite Avengers villain. Also, I used to have this theory that Thor actually died by the hands of Ultron because we see his tombstone in the Avengers memorial site and that since Torunn did die, what we see in space that’s supposed to be Asgard might actually be Valhalla and that she was brought back to life by Thor who at that point must’ve been the new Allfather.

In my opinion the Thor being alive plot would have worked better if they did it so Thor had to sacrifice himself to become her sword. That way he never actually abandoned his daughter but was actually with her the whole time, it also makes sense that the sword would come to her when she's asking for help from her Dad. You can still have the scene of them reuniting, it would just have to be in her head instead of literally in Asgard. I know its a bit silly of an idea to have Thor turn himself into a weapon but I don't think its that farfetched for a comic storyline.

I wanted Ultron to be a bigger threat in the mcu. They could absolutely bring him back tho. Like how did a magic rock blow up a non physical murder AI. Age of Ultron was an awesome movie in retrospect with Ultron’s honestly scary dialogue, but it could have been so much more. Bring Ultron back and run it with like a marvel zombies style apocalypse story with the remaining mcu characters (and maybe some new ones) Like it doesn’t have to be in context of the rest of the movies because who even follows the story anymore this is the multiverse now, not just the mcu.

Idk, I felt like it was cool that they didn't give the main characters an impromptu power up cause they have to fight ultron, they are still kids, they are still weak, and I like that

I actually very much enjoyed MCU ultron as realistically every version of ultron is motivated by emotions but they are masked behind cold logic, albeit very flawed logic. Having an ultron that displayed those emotions was super interesting. Something about the cold killing machine being just as flawed and vulnerable as the rest of us made him FAR more interesting to me. Cold and emotionless ultron is definitely scarier, but mcu ultron was a much more interesting character to me.
