The Autumn Fungi Collection (With a Nikon 105mm Micro Lens)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I get out as much as possible in between the terrible Autumn weather to forage for Fungi! Overwhelmed by the sheer volume and variety of mushrooms, I try out the Nikon AF-S Micro 105mm f/2.8 IF-ED VR while attempting to add to my fungi portfolio. There's nothing quite like relaxed explorations in the forest and I hope you enjoy following my rainy adventures.

Great video Courtney. I love your macro work and I find this series of fungi very interesting. You're a great presenter, with so much humour and a cracking pair of wellies 😂. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along. T
I think I've found my new favorite youtuber and photography inspiration/teacher.
Oh my gosh, I love your videos. You have such a beautiful personality. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
In watching this scenario, you certainly fit the part of a forest fairy. The video was pure fun to watch.
Courtney - Your ability to cheerfully deal with the adversities of light, weather and wind which photographers must face from time to time has inspired me to get out for a shoot when conditions are less than optimal. Watching you for over a year now, I've learned the value of returning to the same spot repeatedly during different conditions or times of day, sometimes getting the shot that didn't exist on my first visit. Thank you so much. Ron

Funny video and great work! I really enjoyed this video.
Focus shift is incredibly useful! Massive time saver and really handy to make sure you have fully covered the subject. Loved the 'Three's A Crowd' with your 750 though
Just wanted to say, be careful with when teleporting your camera kit as I'm not sure the insurance covers loss or damage by that method. Also, have you looked into an upgrade? The new teleporters come with weather avoidance built in. Seriously, I know I've said it before, your ability to 'see' a composition, and 'imagine' a story, makes for some great images.

Oh boy, now that's something I didn't consider when choosing my insurance haha! The teleporter definitely needs some tweaking, it goes wrong far too often. Thanks!
The Nikon Wireless Mobile App on your phone is solution for portrait shooting low to the ground! I use it on my D750, either on my phone or iPad. So convenient, and back-saving. It is a great way to get around the non rotating back on the 750!
My favourite " Beneath the Ferms " 🤗
Beneath the ferns is a seriously gorgeous photograph ❤❤❤Heart
I loved the part of not having a camera. Just this past weekend I traveled over 200 miles to photograph a waterfalls, when I got there. I realized I packed everything but the camera

This is where focus peaking comes into its own. The photo "Beneath the ferns" is a great shot!
You didn't want anything for Christmas, fortunately there are other ways to spread the cheer. Congratulations on 30000+; you certainly deserve it!

Welcome to the MFT club, Emily will be thrilled. Menu system can be overly complex relative to the Nikon; coming from both systems myself, if you have any questions I will always answer. Here are some tidbit tips: You would benefit from the Olympus 7-14 f/2.8, fabulous optic but cannot take front filters, alternatively this one can 8-25mm f/4. Both available at MPB. Expected depth of field is greater than the F/number would suggest, so a f/2.8 behaves like f/5.6, f/4 like f/8 etc.... Be mindful exceeding f/8, you are well within the realm of diffraction stopped down beyond this aperture. As a tripod photographer dont be afraid of pixel shift mode, doesn't work well for moving subjects or if its too windy, but image quality can exceed your D850. I have no experience with a dedicated macro lens yet, I currently use the very close focusing Leica 12-60 and if need to get closer I use an extension tube with it.

@@JerryWilliam63 Ah I wish I had seen this before I used the kit and sent it back haha! I did find the menu system a bit of a pain to navigate but I put it down to just not being used to it. I do wish I borrowed a wider lens as well like the 7-14, but I'll keep that in mind for next time. I'll remember to come to you with any questions too, there always is a little bit of an adjustment/learning curve when using new gear.
Lots of wonderful, little fungi worlds. 😊 I’ve very much enjoyed this video.
Lovely photo (your favourite of the day) . As always , your spirit , enthusiasm , willingness to experiment and the overall quality and joy of your very well put together videos , capture the day.
Inspires an interest to track down fungi
I love when you dance! Also!
Very hard to pick a favorite. They all show so much and different characters. I too really like to crawl around and take macros. I also use a Laowa (65 mm in my case), together with a focus rail. It makes the focus stacking easier. I could really recommend Nisi focus rail, which are very high quality (I prefer focus shift though, but sometimes you want 2x…). Thank you for all your fantastic videos and photos. The are an inspiration.
"Teleportation accident"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love the mushroom macro shots
What an entertaining video it made me smile, teleportation, exercise & dance wow!! Macro photography tick, & a large variety of fungi tick. My favourite image 'Tucked away' (False Chanterelle) the rest of the images are brilliant, thank you for sharing your macro journey & I'm looking forward to the next video :)❤
Instant subscribe! I think my favorite part was how you demonstrated just how much of a difference a reflector makes. Too perfect. Also it may have just convinced me to bring one on my next roadtrip, as I hadn't planned on it but now I will.
Wow I really like that Beneath the Ferns shot! I just might have to get into macro mushroom hunting🤔 It's very nice to see the woodland area and the photo opportunities you discover over there!
My favorite photo of yours this video was the same as what you picked. It really stood out as soon as I saw it. Great job.
Thank you for sharing yourself in your videos. A sense of humor coupled with your knowledge and experience makes a video that is enjoyable to watch, no matter if it's 5 minutes, or 5 hours long. I really do look forward to seeing your "next" videos. Ta, Love! Keep up the good work!
Hello Forest Dancer, I appreciate all your hard work in putting together these wonderful videos... Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the process on how you approach your subjects to be photographed. I own a Nikon 105 f2.8 micro, I find it's a joy to shoot with. Winter time can be both challenging and delightful to photograph the world around us. I hope you and your family are safe and in good health... Looking forward to another great year of watching your videos and especially seeing your awesome photos. Wishing you Happiness this New Year. Mark R from San Diego, California.
Love your work. I do not have a macro lens yet, but that Nikkor 105 is one I want. I do have the D850, as well as the Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G and Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 VR. Will be getting a tripod in 2 days.
Great titles on these beautiful shots!
Love your photography, regards from Canada.
As always, stunning images and an awesome video - with your trademark brilliant sense of humour. You're definitely one of the best presenters out there IMHO.
We enjoy watching your adventures, though your forests are much different than we have in Texas. Your favorite image at the end is also ours. The background colors fit perfectly.
Hi Courtney!! I loved discovering this video since I am a fan of mushroom photography, beautiful photos and elegant humor, interesting mix!! Congratulations
As a non-morning person I was all set on Saturday to get up early and take some photos of a very sunny sunrise. Instead I woke up with a cold and fever which has kept me sulking under the duvet for 3 days. Luckily it has led me to finding your channel on KZread and binge watching it. Thanks for giving this very new photographer much inspiration and new ideas.
I am so happy that I found another great youtuber here. Could you please tell me which camera cage and tripod head you are using here? Highly appreciated!
Just found your channel today, your videos are great and photos are beautiful. Happy Fungi Hunting!!
Recently went through a “restart” in my photography in going from DSLR and going to Mirrorless after a number of years as a hobby. Since then I have been in a slump in wanting to perfect the technical details and watching Courtney’s videos the past couple of days has helped me to remember to just enjoy the experience of photography more than the technical side and perfecting my photos.
Hello Cournei! I see you from Spain. I just wanted to tell you that that big mushroom you picked at the end is a "macrolepiota", an exquisite mushroom that makes a breading, one of the best. ¡Hola Cournei! Te veo desde España. Solo quería decirte que esa seta tan grande que has cojido al final, es una "macrolepiota", una seta esquisita haciendola empanada, una de las mejores.

🌺🌺🌺 Nice way to present the information. Good job :)
What a charming video … Great job.
Thank you MPB
Lovely!
Awesome.
Courtney, I enjoy your compositions, your explanation of your thought process, your videography and your story telling. Of course your dancing and whimsy is top notch. If only you had released your previous video a couple days earlier. It was time to upgrade my APSC camera and it came down to the D-750 or current technology. I chose wrong and now can’t be part of your D-750 club. Keep up the whimsy and I look forward to your next video.
Thanks court’ British weather Can’t beat it! We maybe in for a white xmas!!.
Can't decide which is cuter: the fungi, the photos or your quirky mannerisms 😊😊
Love the humour.
Glorious images. Fab video.
Your storytelling and personality is infectious. Your photography is merely a vehicle that allows you to pursue your passion. I found that I became captivated in your world. Your whimsical photos are truly inspiring. I can’t wait until the weather changes to allow me to participate in such a journey. Truly beautiful photos.
Great channel. High quality product.
Too cool! Thanks Cortney!
Beautiful work Courtney!
Fantastic video as always Courtney. I’ve had my D850 and sigma 105mm macro lens for a couple of weeks now and, whilst I’m still learning is nuances, I love it! Haven’t tried focus shifting yet but will do soon! 😊

Love your ethics... not many have this responsible outlook. Lovely vid But I am concerned that those wellies are a tad big! LOL... but also so happy to see the lens-hood in use halfway through. Not many realise how important a lens hood is in contrast control! I also agree with your last 'favourite' image choice.
Absolutely beautiful macro images , thank you.

Delightful weirdo haha!!
Awesome images! Thank you for the great ideas.
This was great! I enjoy watching you work, and it's a reminder to me that the biggest thing I need to work on is my own tendency (engrained by years of point-and-shoot stuff) to work too fast and then only realize that I didn't get the shot when I'm at home. I've started realizing recently, also, that mushrooms/fungus are a world unto themselves! (I liked the "Three's a crowd" photo the best, but I didn't see it as a crowd...more like a trio that belong together, like the Fates....)

I have a suggestion. When you go into the forest, spend some time and just look, see, feel, and breath Walk into the forest observe the towering trees | let the wonders of nature fill your soul and smell the breeze. Then and only then, switch on your camera.
Yet another brilliant video. Thank you for posting. Your presenting and delivery style is spot on. You should be hosting your own woodland/nature photography TV show. On top of this, you are an outstanding photographer. Your images are something remarkable. 😉👌👍
The joy you share in your videos is infectious. Thank you and have a great week.
I’ve just found your channel. Have watched, maybe 3 episodes and I’m falling in love (with your photography and channel, not you). I like your approach and how you cover topics. I also watch James Popsys, and although he’s great, I’m not that into landscapes. But close up shrooms are beautiful! Also, love Nikon so nice to see a channel using Nikon (at least what I’ve seen so far). My frustration is when I go out to shoot, and look around me and see beauty, or whatever, I can never figure out what to shoot. Can’t find my niche. But you’re giving me inspiration in the things around me. Love it!
Outstanding video as always Courtney!
Stunning images Courtney! 👏🏻❤️😍
Wonderful shots! I miss my 105mm micro Nikkor very much! It’s such a good lens
Amazing photography! Thanks so much for sharing this with us all.
The 'voyage' shot is my favorite of this video. Love the dance moves too. 😊
All of your mushroom photos are amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us.
All the moving frames with the subject of CV in it of course
Beautiful shots. It's so peaceful in the forest.
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing.👍
Outstanding photography and an absolutely brilliant video. Any plans to produce a mushroom photo book?
