Honestly never in all the last 20 years of my life would I have expected them to make an authority movie. I'm actually quite excited for this. The first few volumes of the authority coupled with grant morrisons JLA made me love comics and hugely influenced how I saw big superhero team books.

They should cast Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as Apollo and midnighter 😂

Steve Orlando’s (Midnighter) and Apollo comic run deserves it on show or movie. I hope they do a spin-off or something. I really hope they’re able to distinguish The Authority from the Boys so people don’t misunderstand that it came first.

One easy way to fix it would be to avoid making it look like EVERY SINGLE SCENE has to show you how bad supes are. In fact, I am excited for the fact that they want to make a The Boys-style adaptation but set it in a World where Superman and Green Lantern exist

Wild to think that without the Authority, here would be no MCU. It was the Authority that premiered the blockbuster cinematic action that got popularized by the Ultimates, which then got adopted by the Avengers. Wonder what is the original Authority's defining feature outside of that, edgelord controversies (and be real, no way they're gonna fight mass-murdering rapist Avengers) or the whole "what if we just killed the goverment" political wish-fullfillment?

Had no idea Authority inspired Ultimates in marvel but I see the resemblance. Hopefully The Authority doesn't run into the problem of looking like a rip off of it's rip off to the average audience who don't know these characters well. John Carter ran into the same problem. It inspired so much yet today it isn't some huge IP.

You only need to know one thing. It's the best story ever told. My personal favorite comic book at least. I've been a fan since Stormwatch. Never thought they'd make a movie though since it was wildstorm, but I guess Jim Lee is a magical being.

I'm excited to see Wildstorm comics getting adapted. And even now I'm curious if we will see Lynch from Gen13 make an appearance, but I mean, I won't say no to Grifter. I must say, Wildstorm comics were worth collecting in the 90s. Clearly they were knock offs of other comics, but they tried to do something different with a lot of memorable results. Man, I'd love to see Ladytron get adapted, she's 90s!

@@scottmcfarlane7524 lol, dude, Valiant comics is one of those super old pulp fiction comics that's all over the place. For example Turok is a brand we have all seen have it's ups and downs. And 2 years ago we had Vin Diesels Bloodshot which was part of that. But like a lot of this stuff, it became legal mumbo jumbo like Todd McFarlane's rights to Miracle Man, which he himself didn't actually hold the rights to either. But we are talking about an industry where you can just copy a character and it could be about 60% of a rip off of another character. And no, Gen13 was actually a solid comic.

Maybe we even Ladytro, all of it wasn't bad. I made lots of friend of different diversity through comics, sigh, even now, Wildcats 3.0 where Spartan becomes a tech genius as he tries to "save the world through tech of clean energy." It's amazing satire for today, like why are they doing Wonderman, hollywood actor turned superhero.

I'm genuinely surprised to hear this as it's one of the few comics I read along with Stormwatch but it was weird. I never really understood Jack Hawksmoor's powers and Jenny Sparks being The Spirit of the 20th Century just seemed kinda silly to me but I enjoyed it. I think it would have made a better animated TV series.

Wrong! The most 90's comic book character is Superboy. He had a fade haircut, leather jacket, gloves, and seven belts, straps and buckles all over his costume. Makes me think of 90's X-Men Rogue (jacket, gloves, belts and buckles) and Wonder Woman when she wore the same thing.

its interesting sure but also more interesting that parody versions of original justice league members are being used in the first chapter of dc movies. Feels very odd to do that instead of just introcuing the main players and having characters like this show up down the line rather than being highlighted early on

My worries are few but serious. The team should be Jenny Sparks, Swift, The Doctor, The Engineer, Jack Hawksmoor, The Midnighter and Apollo. The costumes should be as close as dammit to the first Authority comics. It would be great to use relative unknowns rather than re-using actors who have been in Marvel and DC movies, because surely we don't want another Affleck Daredevil/Batman when a new face would be much better. The first few stories in their books would all make great movies.

Wow. I never even heard of these guys. But then again, prior to 2012, I never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy either!

I'm just curious how much the team will be toned down. Their vibe is wayyyy more subversive than I think mainstream audiences are prepared for. Beyond stoked at the possibilities for this. Been a fan since their inception. Also, Grifter is the freaking MAN! :)

If they adapted WildC.A.T.S. to today, it would be a superhero version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers mixed with conspiracy/the1%/Illuminati/etc. It would be even cooler if Halo Industries was introduced and maybe a cameo from "Question"! Grifter really needs to be there somewhere. Oh, and on the subject of Booster Gold, I think the actor who played Archie on Riverdale would be good for the part, even though I personally was rooting for Sean William Scott (yes, Stiffler)!

Hopefully, if the Authority becomes a film or a series, they go full Hard R. If it’s watered down, it probably will fail.

DC comics have so many beautiful stories that deserve to be told, like the tragic story of kent nelson, a little boy that was robbed from his childhood by nabu the lord of order and was forced to become doctor fate, or the beautiful story of hawkman and hawkgirl, the two lovers that are cursed to be killed and reincarnated to eternity everytime they find each other but they keep fighting for good and justice even though their life is pointless because they will keep reincarnating with new parents and new nationalities and names, but gunn is going to give us gay batman and superman instead. good job DC

Jenny Sparks had electric powers. Not gonna mention that she was literally the spirit of the 20th century. And as such a transient being, and if it is DC kin to the Endless. And also by implication in no real way human. Realistically she was a monster. Even so her death hit like a brick. Waller could learn a thing or two.

There was a slaughter of heroes before the Authority got their own book. I still have one of the original art pages that I worked on that shows one supe killing another.
