Authoritarian parents are parents who’ll say things like: you’re my child, I gave birth to you, I know the right way to raise you so you must obey my authority or do as you’re told.
Authoritarian parents believe so much in the use of punishment and rewards for their child. When they set rules, they expect their child to obey it and if their child obeys, the child gets rewarded. If the child disobeys, they get punished.
An authoritarian parent wants their child to say yes sir and yes ma to Mummy or Daddy at all times, else they suffer the consequences.
Let’s see their Future Consequences
Studies have shown that children who grow up in authoritarian households are more likely to be obedient children.
They struggle big time making decisions for themselves, guess what? they end up depending on others.
These set of children struggle with low self-esteem, they tend to be shy, they usually think they can’t do anything, solve problems by themselves, they have this feeling of” I’m not important.
They doubt every care and affection shown to them by people around them.
Dear intentional parent, I do not recommend this type of parenting style because of the negative effects it has on children in their lives now and later lives.
