Terry Pratchett is my joy author. I can re-read a Pratchett book and it doesn't matter how many times I've read it I know I'll feel good while I'm reading it again

100% , anything in the discworld series is Joy, magnified.
I love Scalzi too ❤
I adore Scalzi thanks to you introducing me to him, and this was my favorite so far! ❤
I'm glad you have this author who gives you so much joy. 📚
This book sounds fantastic. I wanna read the Kaiju one first but I'll get to this one eventually.
So glad I found your channel. Your reviews bring me joy! I might even try scifi since you make it sound really interesting!
great video, joy shines right through your eyes. my joy author these days is caroline mitchell, I love everything she writes and all of her characters. 🙂
This book has been an my audible wish list for a little while now. And I originally put it on there because Will, Wheaton. The person who played. Wesley Crusher on Star Trek. The next generation narrates it. I did not realize the author who wrote red shirts also wrote this. It's just kind of a little weird Star Trek Thread ❤
Christopher Moore is always fun for me. Thanks for your recommendation.
I laughed out loud when you said the kaijus' names were Edward and Bella. I'm glad an author brings you so much joy. I like reading Stephen King. He brings me joy and comfort. Looking forward to hearing about vampires. 🦇🖤
I'm very new to your channel (and subscribed!) and on your suggestion I began reading (urmmmm...listening) to 'Redshirts' by John Scalzi, and IT'S SO GOOD!!! As I went on several errands in my neighbourhood, I kept snickering and gaffawing - in public. Thank you so much for recommending a new to me fantastic author, and I'm super excited to dive deeper into their other works.
Okay, here we go again😁. End of month, end of book budget, but now I HAVE to read Scalzi. I'll start with the two that will probably be most up my alley, i.e. the one with the dinosaur-ish creatures (you know of course which one I mean). And, as a devoted Trekkie for almost four decades, I have to have Red Shirts. Sorry, budget. I have no choice, I'm being influenced 😆😗
I know I’m preaching to the choir but Becky Chambers in my joy bringing author.

Same here! Becky Chambers' writing just feels like a warm hug to me.
upon your enthusiastic recommendation, I've just preordered the paperback of Starter Villain
I'm glad Scalzi's writing makes you happy. He definitely appeals to a lot of people, but I'm not one of them. I'm a big SF reader and have tired a few of his books--Fuzzy Nation, Old Man's War and Agent to the Stars. I DNF'd all of them. There's just something about his writing that makes me feel tired, like someone hanging over you, expecting you to respond in a certain way. I'm way too autistic for that. Right now, the author that's giving me the most joy is Martha Wells.

Oh that’s very interesting!
Great video. The authors that give me the most joy are Raymond Chandler, Daphne Du Maurier and Mariana Enriquez.

Great choices (although I’ve never read Chandler, whoops)
I picked up this book based on cover art (American version with a cat in a business suit). It made me laugh out loud.
The author who is currently giving me a lot of joy is P. Djeli Clark. A Master of Djinn was like, how did you manage to shove in almost everything on my list of things I love, many of which are under used? Djinn, angels, monsters, steampunk, early jazz, magic, cross-dimensional existential threats, a murder mystery, a woman dandy, a trans character... and somehow it's not a complete mess, but instead a great romp.
I would really like to hear what you think of "Locked in".
They're gross and pretty ridiculous, but I really have fun when I read any of Judith Sonnet's books. 😅 Anyway I placed a hold for this with the library. Cassandra Khaw's book The All-Consuming World made me question if I like scifi (I actually do like it!) It just kind of ruined scifi for me a little, hope that makes sense. But I am excited to read this! Yay cats! 😸😽

There is a vast world of SF literature out there, you will inevitably find stuff that isn't for you as well as stuff that's just bad. Don't let one author or one book turn you off. I get how one might feel like that--it's not a great feeling to have spent time with a book and be unhappy with that.
Have you read woodworm by layla Martinez? Horror originally spanish
