The Austrian Steyr-Hahn Pistol in German WWII Service
Ғылым және технология
Today we're looking at couple examples of the Austrian WWI Steyr-Hahn military pistol which were converted from the original 9mm Steyr caliber to 9mm Luger caliber right before or during WWII. Austria had tens of thousands of these strong and reliable pistols, so it made sense for German to order up to 60,000 to be refitted to accept 9mm Luger caliber, which was a standard German caliber. Many guns were refinished as part of the overhaul, stamped with an "08" on the slide, as well as various German inspector marks. They also retain their original WWI markings, and are true relics that served in both World Wars.

Good video, informative and straight to the point. Just bought an 08 Steyr Hahn, fascinated by these.

Yea, I just got a 3 digit serial number 1916 german 08. I love it, and the gun looks brand new. k stamps all over, I traded my other steyr 1916 Bavarian for it. I heard that these guns were used by the german wehrmacht. I've been looking for any info on the German 08 pistols I heard that the old estimates of 60 thousand pistols made was actually a lot lower down to like 12 thousand actually converted for Germany
