    At grocery stores they have flower decor and lawn statues outside and they trust you to pay for them. I guess given the choice, most people won’t steal ice or lawn gnomes.

    As a South African, we walk past 3 security cameras to the ice, scan and then pay. Then you walk past a security guard and another 2 cameras to get to your car. And it still gets stolen.

    A guy I used to work with was married to an American and they used to go back to rural Minnesota. He said it was much like Australia where we live. High level of trust. He was so disappointed that everyone was MAGA-made last time they went back. He couldn’t understand how such nice people could fall for Trump’s BS.

    I'm living in the United States, have been my entire life, and am now looking around realizing other countries are doing so much better. I'm considering leaving at some point. Mainly so when I have children, they'll have a better, safer, and healthier upbringing. Most of the United States is depraved and corrupted. Not everywhere but its getting pretty bad here.     The servos (petrol stations) are very well camera-ed up. So if you steal and go to your car they've got your rego (plate number) anyway. But yeah you're trusted to do the right thing.
