Thank you for this review. I wonder if you have in mind to do a translation review of the Christian Standard Bible? Or even the Common English Bible. I know the latter can be loose sometimes but I do love their translation of Romans 3:25. Happy Palm Sunday.

Yes, there is a Catholic ESV, but it comes in only one type size, I have severe gla, so my ESV comes from Crossway, where I can get both a large and a giant print. You will find that Catholucs don’t have anywhere near the choices in Bibles that Protestants do. It’s a shame....and something most Catholics are unaware of.

I finally got around to watching this video. Another wonderful review. I get a lot out of your verse by verse comparisons particularly as they relate the original Greek. Thank so much for your many reviews and I look forward to your next video.

I just received the Anglicized ESV-CE published by spck. It was cheeper than the Augustine Institute version. When I compared the Foreward (spelled correctly) to the Forward (spelled incorrectly) in the volume in your video, I noticed it is the same, except the references to India in the first part have been removed. It is also in two columns. Unfortunately, words that were hyphenated in the Augustine edition preface due to line breaks are still hyphenated in the SPCK edition even when they fall in the middle of the line. I saw 3 instances of this just scanning the text.

29:57 is especially strange because in John 1:25 the translators used the phrase "neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet" so the translation clearly isn't entirely averse to using that grammatical construction

I purchased this Bible when it first came out. I was disappointed with the cover. The cover has a strong order, which gave me a headache. It smelled like paint. I don’t know if it is the gold design on the cover, or the process used to create the blue cover. The cover is hard with sharp-pointed corners and not comfortable to hold; and, I don’t like the folded inside flap on the front cover. Augustine Institute recently produced this Bible with a leather cover. I returned the Bible that you show in this video and purchased the leather-bound edition. The leather-bound edition is excellent. I highly recommend it.

I like that the verse numbers stand out. I prefer,a 2-column, justified paragraph format but the verse numbers often get lost to the eye.

This was a great review! Just picked up a copy of this Bible. I am a Lutheran and I like the ESV, but have been annoyed that seldom does the Apocrypha come in a Protestant Bible. Mr. R. Grant Jones, may I ask what your most preferred Bible is?

Thank you for another wonderful review. I have seen the advertisement for this Bible on my Facebook feed. It is nice to see it reviewed. I, also, want to thank you for showing us the translation for Genesis 3:16. It is important, at least to me. I am in the market for a new, Catholic translation. After watching your reviews, I think I am going to save my money for a Douay-Rheims version (for comparison and study). I would love a good, Catholic journaling Bible, for note taking. However, there isn't a good selection, at this time.

Thanks for that kind comment, Rachel. One of your comments on an earlier video convinced me I needed to show that verse in Genesis. I agree with you about Catholic journaling Bibles. In these comments, one person stated that a journaling Bible in the RSV2CE may be available in about a year. I plan to purchase Zondervan's NRSV Journaling Bible with Apocrypha and review it in the near future, but it doesn't have an imprimatur and many dislike the NRSV. There's also a Catholic NRSV journaling Bible, but it appears to have much less space between the lines. I hope you find a good edition of the Douay-Rheims. Baronius Press has an excellent reputation, but the reviews for their Douay-Rheims that I've seen mention typos.

@@RGrantJones I am looking forward to your review of Zodervan's NRSV Journaling Bible with Apocrypha. I own an Oxford annotated NRSV with Apocrypha (4th edition). It's not my absolute favorite translation, but I like it and read it often. Personally, I am quite fond of reading The Revised New Jerusalem Bible (I like the sentence structure and varied vocabulary).

I'm currently using the RSV-2CE (Revised Standard Version Second Catholic Edition) which is a much superior version to the NRSV. Doesn't gender neutral everything like the NRSV, but also doesn't do old english pronouns, which just seem like a silly affectation for a translation done in the twentieth century- it's OK in Douay-Rheims or King James because of their age. In the RSV-2CE the virgin will conceive in Isaiah because it's no sign that a young maiden gets preggers- happens every day. And it agrees with Matthew's reading of the same. They restore "only begotten Son" to John 3:16 which I like. Many other passages mimic the King James. I have a gaint print RSV-2CE in cheapo leather and yellowish paper that I'm going to get rebound by AAleather in Florida.

Another excellent analysis. Has anyone had a chance to compare the paperback to the hardcover editions of this Bible? I'm interested in it but I am very sensitive to ghosting and crowded, "busy" text formats. This seems to have good spacing but I'm wondering if one edition may have better paper than another. Peace.

I truly appreciate your soft tone in the videos that I have seen so far. It makes it easy to watch and enjoyable in comparison to many obnoxious videos that are out there. Anyway, I have a question about a particular verse about which I am very curious. Can you please check in your ESV-CE Bible and let me know what the following verse says? Matthew 24:28. Both the RSV-CE (and 2CE), and the Douay-Rheims Bible use the words "body" and "eagles" in that verse. But many of the Protestant versions that I've seen, including the ESV, use either "corpse" or "carcase" and the word "vulture" instead of "eagle" in that verse. The KJV at least gets one of them correct but that still makes the whole phrase incorrect because eagles eat living flesh while vultures eat dead flesh or carcases. The KJV uses "carcase" and "eagles." So can you please check Matthew 24:28 in your ESV-CE? I'm really curious as to what words it uses. Thank you. And God bless. 🙏🏼 P.S. I'm still shocked by that misspelling of Foreword. 😲

Sandra - sorry for the delay in responding. I don't believe I was notified of your comment. In the ESV-CE, Mt 24.28 reads, 'Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.'

I was curious if you could recommend a Bible to a newly budding Catholic. I've been doing a lot of digging into different translations and what not, and I seem to enjoy the RSV-CE a lot (I was using Luke 1:28 to compare different versions quickly), however in your review of the Ignatius Bible, you mention they change some of the language in the Old Testament, and I'm not too fond of that. Is there any good compromise here, or would I be better off just ordered the New Testament version of the RSV-CE and finding a different Old Testament translation? It seems like that may be what I'm forced to do.

Chris - sorry for the delay in responding. I don't believe I was notified of your comment, and I don't scroll through comments on these videos very often. I'm not sure how to answer you. If I recall correctly, the RSV-CE left the 1952 RSV Old Testament unchanged. The RSV-2CE modified the Old Testament in a conservative direction regarding doctrine, but it also removed the archaic language the RSV used when addressing God (thou, thee, thy, etc). So if you want the archaic language, I think the RSV-CE is still in print. The Douay-Rheims is another option. It's very similar to the King James Version. You might want to read from more than one translation. If so, in addition to a relatively literal one like the RSV-CE, RSV-2CE, ESV-CE, or Douay-Rheims, I would recommend the Jerusalem Bible. I very much like its graceful English.

Douay-Rheims or Knox versions :-) totally and faithfully catholic.

Has anyone found a version of the ESV CE since, that has either larger easier to read print, or at least paper with less ghosting or otherwise easier to read? PS I don't like the modern typeface headings in the Cambridge, ruins an otherwise classic look, and it's font size might be even smaller.

Another veriation of the E.S.V. Bible is the that the Gideons put out (without Apocrypha). It reconciles the vast majority of translations in the Protestant E.S.V. that depart from the Greek text of the Textus Receptus. I have not been able to obtain a copy of the Gideons edition, but if you could do that and review it, I think that many viewers would find that beneficial.

Thanks for the kind comment! No, it appears to use American spellings. For instance, in Genesis 30.20, Leah says, 'now my husband will honor me.'

R. Grant Jones - have you been able to see if there are many more differences between the ESV & ESV-CE (Augustine Bible)?

It looks like a readers version and short to read. I have NJB 1990 version in Readers edition, is Augustine Bible a better scholarship than NJB and RNJB and more modern scholarship?

The text of the Augustine Bible, the English Standard Version -- Catholic Edition (ESV-CE), is that of the Oxford English Standard Version with Apocrypha, with some modifications. The English Standard Version (ESV) is a revision of the Revised Standard Version (RSV). The RSV and ESV are more word-for-word than the RNJB. In terms of scholarship, I have no reason to believe than the Augustine Bible is either better or worse than the RNJB. Thanks for the question!

@@RGrantJones Catholics have 7 Apocrypha books as I know in their Bible, but not the entire set of Apocrypha (which is in King James Version). I want to avoid extra books of Bible which are considered non standard by most Christians. So I think this Augustine Bible will not have those extra books. To be honest one has to buy few Bible translations in order to know more about it. One more question, can one learn about Judaism too while reading the Old Testament (their 24 books)? Or should I buy a Tanach - Jewish Bible to know about their point of view?

@@hassanmirza2392 - you are correct. As a Catholic Edition, the Augustine Bible omits books like 1 Esdras and 3 and 4 Maccabees. Regarding your second question, it sounds like an annotated Jewish Bible is what you want.

@@hassanmirza2392 The best way to learn Jewish culture of the new testament is by studying the deuterocanonical books/apocrypha. In particular, read Wisdom of Solomon and the book of Sirach. You might be surprised to find that the books of 1-2 Chronicles and the second letter of Peter are both apocryphal and not found in the earliest manuscripts. Catholics and orthodox use the apocrypha as spiritual reading as well as historical material to understand jewish traditions and society. Most of Jesus' prayers and parables are found in the apocrypha and are echoed in the gospels and the writings of Matthew, Paul and John. If you feel uncomfortable having these "left out" books in your "main bible," you might like to get them in a separate volume.These books explain the origin of the pharisees, sadducees and other jewish sects as well as the divisions between Babylonian Jews(the Samaritans) and Jews of the southern tribes who were not captives. After reading, you will understand exactly who and what the Jews were expecting in a messiah.

I bought the ESV-CE from the india publishers. Cheaper than this bible, and has sewn binding, and has faux and genuine leather options at more affordable prices. I bought a blue faux leather one. And the printing is very good. Selling this as the Augustine bible seems gimmicky, especially if they aren't bothering to use any of Augustine writings to inform people of scripture.

Apparently the pronunciation "AusGUStine" is a 19th century affectation. The pronunciation before that and which remains most proper is "AUGustine".

Well, we do call the month "AU-gust" rather than "Au-GUST". I fail to see why the emphasis would be any different in his name. By all rules of English, the _e_ on the end also indicates one should probably put emphasis on the first syllable. "Au-GUS-tin" vs. "AU-gus-teen" sounds like an Americanism, rather as they say "MISS-il" instead of "MISS-ILE" and "MO-bil" instead of "MO-BILE", ignoring the basic rule of English that a terminal _e_ renders the penultimate vowel long.

I prefer it when translations leave pronouns in lowercase. But the NKJV, which capitalizes pronouns that refer to God, does capitalize 'he' there. (Sorry for the delay in responding. I don't believe KZread didn't notified me of your comment.)

Maybe it's not necessary to capitalise every 'he' reference when referring to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit but for me personally, I prefer it. Reading the NKJV for the past three years I became more accustomed to it but im happy to have moved from NKJV to the KJV. I appreciate your time and videos. God bless you. -Nye

How does the ESV-CE read in Luke 1:28, 1 Timothy 3:1 and 1 Timothy 3:15? Is it the same as the ESV or do they change the text?

Thanks for the question! The only changes I've found in the New Testament are shown on the charts that appears at about the 00:13 point. The 2016 ESV and the ESV-CE differ in Luke 1.28, but they are the same in the two verses in 1 Timothy.

@@RGrantJones Thanks! I see the ESV-CE has chosen not to render those passages in a way that makes them more palatable to Catholic sensibilities.

The 1st edition of the RSV-CE is one of my favorite translations out there (despite my lingering affection for the KJV of my youth). It is striking to me that, despite the American bishops' obvious preference for the NABRE, the RSV-CE actually did a better job at inserting itself into the idiom of the Catholic liturgy and catechesis (which is why the RSV-CE is used for the Catechism and Compendium). This makes it a perfect Bible for liturgical and devotional use. The ESV on the other hand, loses so much of the poetry that it seems somewhat inappropriate for worship.

Thank you, once again, for another useful review. I particular enjoy the detail you go into (and I hope you do to!) Do you have either the 2008 ESV with the Apocrpyha or the more recent Anglican Liturgy Press ESV with the Apocrypha to make a comparison with? I am in particular interested in the book of Tobit in the ESV-CE, as apparently it went through a major rewrite for the edition you reviewed. If you are able to shed any light on this, I would be extremely grateful. I have been unable to do much research into this myself, as I am not well versed in textual criticism of the apocryphal books, and the ESV-CE is very difficult and expensive to get in NZ.

Thank you for that encouraging comment, Peter. As I recall, I was persuaded not to buy the Oxford edition of the ESV with Apocrypha by reviews that reported high levels of ghosting. So I'm not in a position to compare the ESV-CE Apocrypha against the earlier translation. But regarding Tobit, the Introduction to the ESV-CE states that "In the special case of Tobit, the translators used the longer Greek text (Sinaiticus) supplemented by the shorter Greek text (Vaticanus) and the Old Latin version at points where the longer text lacks some verses (4:7-18; 13:6b-10a)."

I don't have any insight into the answer to that question, Jim. But it does seem to me that, with the current emphasis on ecumenism, we would see a push toward the ESV-CE (and perhaps the NRSV-CE also).

My preference would be for the RSV2CE for devotional reading and the ESVCE for in-depth study. I prefer the slightly richer vocabulary and older style of the language in the RSV. But the ESV is somewhat more literal. Thanks for the question!

Some places where I'm curious about the translation if you have time would be: first, how does it translate monogenes? Second, a couple of places where a translation might stick with the LXX or Vulgate such as Psalm 8:5 where it could be angels instead of a translation of Elohim. Or Psalm 110:3 which might more clearly point to eternal generation. Third, I'm curious about if it uses guilt instead either iniquity or sin as the ESV normally does in Psalm 51:5.

Thanks for the questions, eric! I'll answer briefly. Please ask follow-up questions if you need more information. Regarding monogenes, the ESV-CE text of John 1.18 is identical to the ESV text, so monogenes is translated as 'only'. The ESV and ESV-CE are the same in Psalm 8.5, Psalm 110.3, and Psalm 51.5.

I love the cover of this bible, that blue-golden colors are great. But overall, I like my RSV2CE, not only because it avoids the inclusive language more (that I don't like, even knowing that the ESV is not that much gender inclusive) but because the quality of the two are really good and I don't see any reason to change it. I like the paper color too.

Thanks for commenting! Yes, the ESV takes a few baby steps in the direction of modern gender inclusive language. It's not in the same league as the 2011 NIV or the NRSV. Regarding the RSV2CE and the ESV-CE, I like aspects of each. In a wide-margin or journaling edition of either, I think I could combine the best features of both.

I prefer the ESV, simply because it retains some of the Tyndale/Geneva/KJV flavor. (I wish it were more.) Not that I dislike the EHV.

R. Grant Jones I feel the same way. I just got both of these Bibles donated to me by the publishers in my capacity as a hospital chaplain. While I appreciate the eclectic use of text sources by the EHV, I still find it not elevated enough in language. I am awaiting an Ignatius Press RSV-CE or RSV-2CE that the publisher is also donating. I wonder how that will stack up in relation to the ESV-CE in these terms of elevated language.

I think I heard about it sometime last year, probably in a comment on one of these videos. The ESV already included the additional books, so that part was easy. Thanks for the comment!

@@markwiygul6356 - thanks for the question. Here's a line from the introduction: 'This edition uses the deuterocanonical text from the ESV with Apocrypha (Oxford University Press, 2009) as the basis for translation of the deuterocanonical books.' It doesn't say who actually did the translation.

@@markwiygul6356 The ESV With Apocrypha has been available from Oxford Press for just over a decade. I believe the update was performed by two scholars who modified the RSV Apocrypha according to the same principles used by the ESV translators. The ESV-CE came about when Oxford's rights to the ESV expired. The Catholic Bishops of India were then given the rights to the ESV With Apocrypha in order to produce a Catholic Edition. The first edition was made available in India in February 2018. That's when I received my copy. Even though the update was produced in India, it was all in English. They updated the English ESV With Apocrypha and produced the English ESV-CE. Crossway is not involved with the ESV-CE in any way other than licensing the rights. I believe The Augustine ESV-CE is the first edition published and made available in the U.S.

Interestingly, I have heard that the Book of Tobit was given a fresh translation in the ESV-CE from the Codex Sinaiticus version (i.e. the longer one). Other than that the Apocrypha seems largely the same as the 2009 version, though I need to look in more detail.

I haven't watched the video yet but I just have to let you know that this Catholic Edition looks amazing.

Oh just one random question: do you also read some of the books of the earliest Christians like Athanasius, Basilius the Great, Jerome or Augustine?

Many such rules have become outdated. When almost everyone commits an "error" enough times, it becomes the new rule. Such is the way a living language works.

If you had to choose between the ESV-CE and the RSV2-CE, which would be the better choice?

IMO, RSV2CE. The ESV is also a revision of the RSV, and the RSV2CE does a much better job revising it with more authentically catholic readings of certain key passages. For me, it's a dealbreaker if they translate κεχαριτωμένη from Luke 1:28 as refering simply to favor instead of to its root word's primary meaning: Grace; which is how the Church has understood it from the earliest days as evidenced by the Peshita (a 2nd century AD west aramaic translation) and the Vulgate (the de facto, and eventually de jure, Latin rite Catholic bible from the fifth century until the 20th).

Love the video! Thanks for all of your work. @26:47 Your guess at the motive for a difference between the ESV-CE and RSV-2CE in Acts 10.36 is probably not correct. The ESV-CE says "Israel", and the RSV-2CE says "sons of Israel". You said the ESV-CE "left out 'sons of' probably in order to be more gender inclusive." The ESV-CE did not remove the words "sons of". They were never there to begin with. The ESV-CE is an update of the ESV. The ESV does not use "sons of" either. The ESV is an update of the RSV. The RSV does not use "sons of" either. The RSV is an update of the ASV. The ASV says "children of Israel" (as does the KJV). The original 1946 RSV New Testament changed the ASV's "children of Israel" to "Israel". All of the RSV updates in the line up to and including the ESV-CE simply retained the change. The ESV-CE did not inherit "sons of" from any of its ancestors, so it could not remove words that were never there. Actually, the RSV-2CE added "sons of". The RSV-2CE is an update of the RSV-CE, and the RSV-CE does not use "sons of". So nothing was removed or left out of the verse for gender reasons. It was a matter of the RSV-2CE adding the words "sons of".

Thank you for the comment, Arandor! Clearly, I wasn't as careful as I should have been. Had I checked the RSV and not simply the RSV2CE, I wouldn't have made that error. I did take a look at the Greek before making that remark in the video. It reads, τὸν λόγον ὃν ἀπέστειλεν τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ εὐαγγελιζόμενος εἰρήνην διὰ ᾿Ιησοῦ Χριστοῦ. It quite clearly says τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ, 'to the sons of Israel'. But you are correct that the RSV2CE altered (I would say improved) the original RSV there. Perhaps it is accurate to say that the ESV-CE allowed the ESV/RSV's omission to remain unmodified. Thank you for the correction!

on all the points mentioned, the ESV-CE is consistent with the NKJV.

Wonderful video, thank you! I am very interested in getting the ESV-CE to replace my Douay-Rheims. I highly value the ESV-CE because it utilizes translations of the most recently discovered ancient texts, even more recent than those used by the RSV (or so I have been led to believe). However, the gender-neutral language of the ESV-CE is extremely disappointing! I would very much prefer a more literal translation free of modern political predilection. Do you know of any ESV-CE bibles that stay more faithful to the ancient texts in this regard?

Thanks for the kind comment, Paul! Regarding the gender inclusive language, the ESV-CE is very mild compared to, say, the NRSV, the 2011 NIV, or the NLT. I don't know of any variations on the ESV-CE that use the older standard English found in the RSV, RSV-CE, and the RSV-2CE.

The Douay-Rheims is irreplaceable. It's the Latin Vulgate

I have a copy of this edition and am not crazy about the box. Have seen the new bonded leather editions in black, red, burgundy, but again they've put HOLY BIBLE in gold fonts on the boxes but not on the front covers of the actual bibles which are blank. So we're expected to carry around the box with the Bible? As a practical matter, the bonded leather will probably get pretty beat up after a few years of going in and out- you can't always hit the right angle when pushing it into the box.

That's interesting and useful information, ICXCNIKA. I hope other viewers see them. To me, the slip case makes sense for the paperback. I suspect you're right about the wear it will cause to the bonded leather (which is leather rather in the way pressed wood is wood).

I prefer books of the Bible to start on a separate page.

And is it well translated Matthew 1:25 Catholic friends?

Misspelling "foreword" is such an epic fail. It's hard for my mind to wrap around how that went unnoticed.

Foreword and forward are two different words meaning two different things.

@@colonelvideo Yes but whoever wrote the Foreword to this ESV-CE really messed up. It was a misspelling rather than using the wrong word. There's no "e" in the word that's in this Bible. If one is to drop the "e" to use the other word, then the "o" would be replaced by an "a" to use the other homophone, "forward." This was just incorrect. I hope the next prints will correct the error.

I was curious because I love Augustine, I'm Also Orthodox but I was hoping this bible would offer something unique, I dont see anything special ... Thanks for the thorough review

You're welcome! I believe it's called the Augustine Bible because the Augustine Institute played a role in its publication. No other reason I'm aware of. It is unusual in that it features the ESV text with the Deuterocanonical books. Oxford used to print a hardback ESV with the Deuterocanonicals. An Anglican publishing house prints an ESV pew Bible with the Deuterocanonicals, but I'm told the print is tiny.

Mr. Jones, in this Augustine Bible ESV-CE, in Luke 1:28, does it say "Hail Mary Full of Grace", or the dumbed down and degraded phrase "favored one"?

The underlying meaning is the same, regardless of the English words used.

Not sure why they chose soft cover and such a garish cover design...As a Catholic, I would like to know why there is such a famine of design and aesthetics in the modern Catholic world. You think the church that produced the Sistine Chapel would be able to produce a tasteful bible cover design, but I guess that's asking too much.

It’s embarrassing, when you compare the Bible’s available to Catholics with the chiucescavaiosblevto Protestors.. Evangelicals are especially into their Bibles. They have all kinds of Bibles, with all kinds of bindings, coloring Bibles (I just bought two for Christmas presents), journaling Bibles, wide margin Bibles, Bibles just for women, teens (both sexes), Bibles for men, Premium Bibles...Thst can cost the earth, children’s Bibles, Bibles with different size fonts...including large, giant, and super giant,.... You name it, someone makes it. In contrast, the choices when shopping for Catholic Bibles are pitifully small, by comparison. Sometimes the more interesting Protestant Bibles will create a Catholic “Version”, and include the apocrypha. I have severe glaucoma, and am slowly rebuilding my collection of Bibles by buying the giant print edition of Protestant Bibles. I grew up Methodist , with a dash of Baptist, and have belonged to an evangelical church, so they are at least familiar to me...

Personally, I think the Sistine Chapel is pretty garish. But maybe that's because it's rather aesthetically foreign to my Orthodox sensibilities.😄

Thanks for the Review. Please consider walking through the table of contents to make sure it has all 73 holy books as opposed to the 66 books of the protestant bible. Millimeters here and there is nice detail but not that important in my humble opinion.

I prefer to use the hard cover edition of the E.S.V. rather than this encased soft cover edition of the Augustine Bible, which looks pretty but can be annoying to handle. As for thle Augustine Bible itself, for me it eclipses altogether the usual Protestant E.S.V. text. The modifications, meaning many of them (and more such revisions would be welcome, given how radically revisionist the E.S.V. is textually) are very, VERY welcome. It is a shame that the usual (Protestant) E.S.V.'s ecsessive adherence to even the worst aspects of the Critical Text of the N.T. apply across the board. For me, the earlier (Protestant) text of the E.S.V. vanishes from my personal use of it. The Augustine Bible is much, much preferable. Even so, I prefer the R.S.V.-C.E. 2 over either text of the E.S.V. Catholic Text. And, of course, the Douy-Rheims-Challoner and K.V.J. Bibles still reign supreme.

@@Reddishbrownhorse typically this verse is translated "the church is the pillar and ground of the truth". Catholics (myself included) typically see this as a reference to the Catholic Church. In the ESV, "the pillar" is translated as "a pillar". This change seems to imply the church is simply one pillar of truth amongst many. To my knowledge, the ESV is the only translation which renders 1 Timothy 3:15 in this fashion. I have not personally verified how this verse is translated in the ESV Catholic Edition - but the regular ESV translates "a pillar".

@@SearchingTheArchives Thanks. I am sure there are other passages translated in a more protestant mindset as well. I recently purchased this Bible as I like having different translations for study and comparing. My faith won’t be shaken by reading a few verses that are translated this way (the NAB misses the mark in a few places as well and it’s our lectionary in the US) but I can see where edit could be problematic for some. I feel that Catholic publishers should put some sort of information about the translations they are selling and highlight which passages use a protestant leaning.

I agree I don't think there's a perfect Bible - I made a video on my channel comparing the NAB, Douay Rheims + Knox Bibles, I'd be curious to hear your feedback!
