awesome!
The level of understanding you have about turkey sounds blows my mind.
I hung out with Michael for an hour or so at bass pro in nashville prob 15 years ago and he gave me the advice about using the box call as a tuning fork for a mouth call and that helped me out the most out of all advice i had heard for improving mouth calls
And THAT'S why they call it "talking turkey"! Very well done sir. Now I just need to practice, practice, practice!
I think this was the best instructional turkey calling/language video I’ve seen! Very well done!
Man that gobble call is on point
Enjoyed many instructional calling videos. This one is the absolute best. Like I was the only person in the class.
fantastic! I learned sooooo much. I've got 3 mouth calls and two box calls. I was able to convince two Toms to come check me out by both loud and soft calling , then being quite and not calling for minutes on end. They came from 160 yards to within 22 and the party was over for Mr. Big. Thanks Micheal!!!
You killed it! PHD in turkey calling.
Thanks Michael Waddell I'm fixing to be 60 years old and have never Turkey hunted and ive just got my calls for the first time and plan on hunting spring 2024 in Georgia and this helps me alot on learning what i need to be successful and thanks for all the information the you provide its been a honor to watch you all these years and learn so much from deer hunting to everything in the outdoors God Bless you and your family

Good luck man! Go get you a Forrest pimp
I agree and love all the advice shared here. I think the most valuable teacher is experience in the woods. Spend enough time up close to birds and around them and you will pick up on several small details that can make you successful. One thing I dont think was mentioned but has value too is learning a Jake yelp too. Had a handful of stubborn birds break when I incorporated that sound when other strategies werent working.
Michael thanks for sharing your passion for turkey hunting and showing us a few things we didn’t think about. It gets us turkey hunters a little more fired up when we learn a couple more things about calling to these thunder chickens. Good luck!
This is one of the most informative videos on calling I’ve seen. We’ve only just started 2 years ago and have questioned my cadence when I got Tom’s gobbling back and this totally answered my questions. Awesome Waddy thanks, keep ‘‘em floppin brother 🤙🏻
Really one of the best videos I’ve be come across for teaching turkey calling - really clear understanding of turkey dynamics and language theory- awesome!
WOW!!! Thank you, Michael!!! I have never heard anybody talk about turkey calling like that before. What an awesome video!!! Please give me more like this, I have a deep passion for turkey hunting and want to learn MORE!!
I haven’t Turkey hunter in close to 20 years, and just gotten bit by the bug and trying to learn again how to call. The scenarios and situations made this video totally worth it, as that’s what I’ve struggled with understanding.

@Josh Bastardly I stopped all hunting pretty much once I got to high school. Sports took up most of my time. Then I started coaching two sports. Football and wrestling took up a majority of my time. About six years ago, my dad asked me to go to Texas on a whitetail hunt. I went, got blessed to take my biggest (by far) buck. I was hooked again, and went down the archery rabbit hole. Now I’m only coaching wrestling and have a lot more time. Picked up an old box call I’d been given, with a note from the maker wishing luck with the call on the bottom that I had never noticed before. I started practicing that night. I’ve spent more time in the woods this year that I ever have, and could feel more at home even without success. Just great to be out in our Creator’s creation.

Great video Michael, My son and I are going to try our hand at getting our first bird this year. He is 10 and I just got him a Stevens .410 to use. Many great tips in this video and they will surely help us in our quest to put a big Gobbler down. We are in Indiana.
Have had an Old Ben Lee Twin Hen since 1989. Many paddle calls were bought since then but that Twin Hen goes in the vest every season. The others all get handed down to newbies or youngsters to practice. I love my Feather Ridge diaphragms but something about the sweet-talking of that box makes me feel "hey man Im in the Turkey Woods again" keep up the vids and good luck in the Turkey Woods Michael!
I've already left one comment. But i have to leave another one. I have to say this is the best turkey calling video I've ever seen/heard. I probly take my turkey hunting more serious than any human on earth. That being said. You can tell a vetren hunter like yourself. Because you explain it exactly like I've seen and heard my whole life. You explain it perfect. I've located nuts with calls. And I've d questioned myself is that a dude on a box call! You can tell a non experience hunter. But it's hard to tell the difference between a good caller. Michael this was a great video. I've been watching realtree since the early 90's and i can actuly say this is one of my favorite videos I've ever seen you do. Good luck buddy. Stay safe.
Down to earth, original thoughts, great content that explains a lot of the reasons turkey hunting is an obsession. Calling with a response, that creates the interaction you live for, once you've obtained success. Continue your way young man, I love every piece of info you can throw out. Thanks
Man I love listening to Waddy! Very insightful conversation that gets Back to the basics of turkey calling. I could listen to the man talk for hours.
Passion for outdoors goes a long long ways and your crew has gotta be the best out there! Chills to see the passion one can have for something and hope only for success for everyone watching.

Happy hunting!
Your skill makes me smile.❤ this is the absolute best video I’ve found on U Tube explaining how to use the call and cadence. I’ve copied this and will watch many times as I practice calling. Thank you so much for teaching wannabes like myself the art of calling a Turkey. You are now my favorite master of this art form.
Great Series. You nailed it on all points. Thank You.
Great job explaining these calls turkey master. Taught me a ton!!!
all I have to say is that gobble you did after the crow call was just amazing. That was impressive.
Thank you Michael, this was great. I learned more in this one vid than the other 100 I've wactched.
Very helpful information thank you for videos to help new up and coming hunters to get out this spring and have a starting point to get them started on how to call 👍👍 awesome video
Thanks Michael, very helpful advice / tips! I will start comparing sounds from mouth call with box call.
I've grown up watching you and the guys since I was a little kid, been turkey hunting since I was 6 or 7 going with my dad. Always had a love for it and always a pleasure seeing you guys succeed. I would never consider myself even a great turkey hunter and I'm sure it's been said before but I've often found sometimes the best thing to do is shut up on the call. Just like Michael is saying about being in tune with what the gobbler wants, if he's not immediately answering you, keep waiting longer and longer in between calling back to him. Get to the point you're not calling for 10, 15 sometimes even 20 minutes. Wait for him to gobble on his own wondering where you're at and if you're still coming, when he does that throw him some soft yelps and then shut up some more. It drives them crazy, they're either gonna come in or finally mozy on off but a lot of times they come in. This applies mainly to gobblers on their own, if they're henned up its just hard. I hope this helps if anybody made it this far haha
I’ve been hunting turkeys for almost 30 years and I still am learning, this video is great
GLAD TO HEAR YOU AGAIN!
A lot of good information you spoke on . I'm a Georgia boy and a beginner turkey hunter . I learned a good bit from this first video. I look forward in more of your videos !Thanks
Great video. I saw you guys recently in Nashville at the NWTF 50th anniversary. Good luck in the turkey woods this season.
I just wanted to say.......thank you Michael!!! Fr thank you!
Loved the calling session, it helped me so much thanks.
Best video I have seen on turkey talk.
What a great video about turkey calling overall!
Not only are you funny as heck, you taught me alot.
Great video, I am learning to use a mouth call. Great advise to use my box call to help with sound and cadence. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing better than talking turkey!!
This is actually the best explanation video.I've heard in a minute.
That's some great information right there . I appreciate that very much . I'm going to save this video so I can go back and pick out certain sounds . Thanks for everything you guys do for the hunting industry . Awesome 👍🏻
I found hone in on what works best then expand. Just a quick funny story about box call. Heard a “hunter” using what I thought was a box call very poorly. Half hour later as “they” came closer and about to howler out to them I’m here. It’s a small hen evidently lost looking for other hens lol!
Man ol’ Waddell has been making me laugh for 2 decades even when he’s serious he’s funny 😂, great video Michael appreciate it!
Great presentation. Thank you for this. God Bless.
Love the friction call as a tuning fork tip. I'm sitting in my blind right now watching this video and I'm already getting better with the mouth call. When I get home I'm gonna watch this video again . Unless I'm cleaning a turkey that is. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video. I am new to turkey hunting. Slayed some Iowa whitetails, but never a turkey.
Thank you for the refresher 7 days before opening day for me
Love the box call break down at the end one of least covered calls in most videos
Great video thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Just wanna day thank you for posting this video, today was my 2nd time ever turkey hunting (well hunting in general) yesterday was my first. But I've been watching this video religiously, and it helped me call in 2 birds, wasn't able to get any of them because someone's dog barked about 150 yards away and made them run. But it was so cool to watch and gear them actually respond to my calls that I've been practicing watching this video. Every day on the way to and from work I work on my mouth call, while at the house I work on my pot and box. I felt like my pot call sounded the best and actually talk to a gobbler, I was right, and I just have to stop by to say thank you for helping me get into the wonderful world of turkey hunting. Marked the spot on my ONx, so hopefully next time I get me a bird, but nonetheless I'm gon a have a great time out in the woods. And I have to give credit where credit is due.
Awesome information excellent demonstration!! You definitely know your turkey!! Great video!!
Thanx Michael for the information, I've learned more about turkey calling and attracting a tom in this video than all other videos
Absolutely love this! Thank you!!!
Want to thank you. I went out yesterday after watching this and used the slate and box calls and called a nice guy and and put him down. I'm 55 and this was only my second but first solo. The mouth call isn't there yet but oh my goodness what a rush to call him in and have him do the flop!! One down here in South Jersey. Thank you sir
Great video had a little something in there from beginners to veterans could learn something or polish up getting ready for the season
Awesome video! You did forget one of my favorite calls. The tube call. It's a tough call to master, but once you do, you can make every call known to turkeys. I've brought in tons of hung up Tom's by gobbling like a Jake on a tube call. A couple yelps on a slate or box followed by a choppy gobble on the tube is deadly! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and happy hunting. 🦃
I loved the way you explained turkey talk . When I'm in the woods I become a turkey . First a turkey walks on 2 legs so I don't worry about making noise. I kick leaves purr and cut and if the gobber hung up I get up and walk away kick leaves yelping and cutting lightly. That will normally get his interest. I love putting him to roost and give him a batwing so he's looking my way first thing in the morning but you had better be ready when you hit him with that batwing and a fly down cackle call he's libel to laid in your lap . Well I been making hand made turkey calls for a few years now and maybe one day you'll hear me calling that old tom away from you .Well good luck and safe hunting

Michael thank you for doing this Great video been watching you for years you are amazing Great caller this really did help Good luck to you thank you.
Thank you Michael.
Very good Michael!! My boys and I love your videos and have learned a lot from you!
That was a perfect video, I learned a hell of a lot.
Well said Waddell!
Appreciate you! Good information
Good stuff Michael.
Thank you very much. I've been calling wrong for a lot of years.
Good information Michael , as a hunter especially if you want to be successful you need to always be humble and willing to always learn stuff from different hunters because even if they are a pro hunter they don’t know it all you have to be willing to listen and learn from different hunters. And I think the best way to learn how to hunt turkeys is not people but getting out in the woods and listening and watching wild turkeys and watching and learning their behavior that is the best teacher you can have is the Wild Turkeys themselves.
Gotta love KZread for things like this!!!
Just like my Grandfather said as he introduced me to spring turkey hunting in 1977. Don't speak until spokin too...
Great stuff. Thank you
Thanks for the tutorial ❤❤❤
Great stuff. Thanks.
Fantastic video
Nicely done
You, sir, are one HELL of a turkey caller. I’m going to look for more of a “kiss” (keep it simple stupid) video from you of a how-to with the mouth call in particular as I’ve never come close to mastery and always just used my trusty box calls but we all know the mouth calls are where it’s at. Thank ya for the great content! God bless!
Thank you sir. Almost time
Awesome 👏 Michael 🦃🙌🤝 🦃
That’s good stuff right there 🦃🦃💥
The advice I got as a kid to start out as a rookie was to get a box call. Then learn how to yelp three times and cluck one or two times.
Thank you. I have never been turkey hunting, but I am going to try this spring. I bought a mouth call, it's called raspy old hen. Going to try and see what happens. Thanks for the sounds and the info.
Nailed it. Next time someone wants me to teach them turkey calling, I'll have them watch this video first. He says what I'd say, but they can watch it multiple times vs. hearing me say it once.
Great video
Going off the mouth call, just wondering if you can demonstrate the feed/woo woo call. I’ve heard this call many times but can’t produce it. It’s a hard call to master and too me, Scott Ellis does it best. Love the content and all the help you provide. God bless!
Definitely always something to be learned from mr. Waddell. Always schooling a fellow hunter. Thank you sir now I can call in those fat butterballs.
Good video always wanted to know turkeys were saying and what calls meant and what there saying to each other
Amazing thank you
My family thinks I’m nuts listening all this. Thank you though I love it.

Awesome 💯
21:57 box call technique thank you, sir.
Awesome!
My mouth calling sounds like a strangled chicken; but with your encouragement, I'll try again. But--slate is my friend!
