That’s sums up Brady. Rarely chaos, mostly grace. ..... not easy.

All I know is, it's a true thing of beauty when you see the perfect spiral and it's timed so perfectly that the receiver doesn't need to make any adjustments. (That 40 yard beauty right down the sideline, the same on a deep post route, and of course the back corner of the end zone.) A thing of beauty!

Drew Brees has a little bit of wobble in his throws. In theory (from sports science) this is one of the reasons why he is very accurate

Err, what? The less wobble the ball has, the more stable it is. More rotations = More stability. Less rotations = Less stability.

Jon .Molina I find it interesting how different throwing motions create different spirals. Aaron Rodgers has a particular motion where he rotates his body rather than leaning into his throws, and it creates a pretty spiral as well with a ton of spin in it

@@danielcaskey Two years ago when I made the comment he had a lot more juice when he rotated his hips, nowadays it seems like he uses a lot more pure arm and because of that I think he's lost that old rotation. He still doesn't step into his throws but it hurts him a little more than it used to.

Sorry pal but Vick did not have a classic throwing motion. Vick had a whippy delivery, more like a shortstop. If you want to see perfect mechanics like you would teach a kid check out Brady, Aikman and Sam Bradford. (Yeah, I know Bradford wasn't in the conversation with those guys but his delivery was perfect. There was a reason he was the 1st pick in the draft. He just couldn't stay healthy. He did set the single season pass completion % record one year only to have Brees take it back the next year.)

Man, for real. Everybody talks about Vick's legs but I don't remember of a pass of his that wasn't a tight spiral. Mechanics-wise, he was the best left-handed thrower.

Rodger's accuracy is absolutely mind blowing. Easily the most accurate passer in NFL history. He isn't the best QB all time, but there is no one even in his league of accuracy.

I wouldn't say the most accurate, that'd probably go to Drew Brees, but in terms of a combination of accuracy, arm strength, mobility, playmaking ability, pocket awareness, and just overall on-field smarts, I would argue that Rodgers IS the best of all time. I think if you were to take all the traits that you'd want to see in a QB, stuffed them all together, you'd get Aaron Rodgers.

Even as a huge Drew Brees and Saints fan, gotta agree with Mike Smithmyer. Where Brees definitely edges out Rodgers in passing, Rodgers is league ahead of Brees in mobility.

So glad they mentioned warren moon he used to say how he'd have his fingernails a certain Length must of worked the spirals he threw were fantastic!!!

As a high school receiver I'd also add that when the spiral is fast when it hits your hands it spaces your fingers out more helping your hand wrap around the ball instead of just plopping in them.

Out of all the coaches in there no one mentioned Aaron Rodgers. You got to be kidding me

u wot m8? All of the throws from rodgers are extremely tight, fast-rotating spirals. Go watch the TD pass he throws when he tweaks his hamstring. Throws it sidearm about 4 yards and still manages to keep the nose straight and stable.

Cris Carter says he has seen many great QBs play, even players like Marino, Montana, Elway, and Moon....and has never seen anyone throw the ball like Rodgers. He talks about the flight of Rodgers' footballs, how tight the spirals are, and how he's able to spin the ball. It's no wonder they had Rodgers talk about the art of spiraling the ball in the film.

I always knew some qb's were amazing but hearing that little like zoom from a qb like farve is unbelievable the power he had was unmatched, mostly

I know this is an old video but today, Tom Brady has the prettiest spiral. The ball travels in the air completely oval shape 90% of the time. And it's crazy his draft report says "Doesn't throw a tight spiral".

As an ex-catcher, I can absolutely back up that catching a ball with spin in any direction is way easier than a dead flyer. The way the ball drops is just *not* the same.

Vintage Drums i don't know about that. He had a 🚀 arm. So his deep throws were awesome but short stuff not so much.

I love these early 2010 videos with commentary, it’s calming

Watching it in slow motion just adds to the perfection along with a clean catch for a touchdown.

That little noise (i call the whistle) FAVRE is the KING ! Plus i saw brett and ben throw 83 yds at the pro bowl games ( between 30" cones )

The spin on the ball causes it to not only go through the air faster but as it naturally slowly down it slows down quicker as well. The follow through creates the spin but also guarantees that the ball has the most momentum and economical energy transfer without thinking about wind direction and resistance. But what creates more friction at the same time in the air? The spin. If you were standing in an insane gale what would create more friction on you? Standing still, running into the wind standing straight or spinning violently whilst running into the wind? So just like the backspin in basketball, the turning and it's interaction with the friction of air slows it down to a halt much faster than not spinning. A good spin on a basketball means that if it hits the rim softly it doesn't ricochet away violently. It's the same for being caught by the receiver.

I would have liked to hear more from the guy at the end.

Ask Warren Moon. He's the guy to ask

People forget about Dan Pastorini. Not the most accurate but he threw an incredible deep ball. One of the strongest arms I've ever seen. When he let go a bomb it looked like it was shot out of a cannon.

Brady, Rodgers, brees, and Stafford are the best qbs in the league rn, always have tight spirals and excellent accuracy

I was watching an NFL QB warming up before a game and was mesmerised, the best I could describe it was a whip in his arm. Seemed to have also a repetitive action with no wasted motion. I have seen it pro golfers and tennis players at elite level. How everything is repetitive and very little wasted movement. I never see or appreciate it on tv.

Rodgers sacrifices his throw by being able to throw on motion consistently.

Warren Moon had the prettiest spiral of all time. He spun it like no one else and it was so accurate I swear he could hit a gnat's eye from 50 yards. It's an over exaduration, but you get the point. Before Tom Brady, and eventually my dude Dak Prescott broke the record for most pass attempts without an interception by a rookie. Warren Moon held that record for years.

@@ericthered1140 Oh I've seen Warren Moon. Saw him play as an Oiler in person when I was a kid. He threw a pretty ball. No wobble. Perhaps the most underrated QB of all time. But Jeff George's passes had a certain quality about them like God himself was showing you how pretty a pass could be.

Wow they practically skipped over the interesting part that actually answered the question at the very end lol. "Screw the actual physicist, give us the good ole ball coach".

THE QUARTERBACK SPIRAL THROW IS BEAUTIFUL

The art is one thing I learned by my coach, keep your hands on the laces. (Btw don't get nervous, or you'll throw a duck) and if you end with the flick of the wrist, then it was a good throw

As a Packer fan, I've been spoiled watching Favre and Rodgers throw a nice ball. Favre had a cannon for an arm and where other quarterbacks had to put some air under a long pass, Brett threw a frozen rope. I still think Joe Montana threw one of the nicest balls I've seen. I was fortunate to also see Dan Marino play and he made it look so easy. That seems to be the common theme between those who "spin" it vs. those who don't have a tight spiral - it looks effortless.

By far the best player with the spin on the ball would have to either be Al bundy or Uncle RICO, his spiral was so smooth he threw the ball clear across the mountains.

I agree with Rodgers. I was once playing catch with a guy in his 50s who was a QB in high school. He was throwing rockets at me and only his tight spirals made it easier for me to catch.

Marino had a absolute gun!!!! Quickest release in football. He could “spin it”

My coaches told our QBs to point at their target at the end of their throwing motion and that seemed to work pretty well

To be honest I throw side arm and I'm always on point. Its puts alot of strain but the way it comes out of my hands is a absolute beauty
