The Art of Handmade Globes
When Peter Bellerby couldn’t find the perfect handmade globe for his father’s 80th birthday, he took matters into his own hands. He spent the next few years learning and perfecting the lost art of globemaking, which turned out to be a difficult, detailed process. Today, he runs Bellerby & Co Globemakers out of a small London studio with a team of 15 skilled craftsmen who create every masterpiece by hand.

English people are often portrayed by Americans as being Ugly, this dates back all the way to anti British sentiment because of the Revolutionary war etc, in reality they are just as good looking as every other Anglosphere country, mainly because many immigrants from the UK colonised 1/3 of the earth, im American but i find English woman to be some of the most beautiful, of course opinions are subjective
Was this directed by Wes Anderson or something haha

Griffin Mackenzie that's a bit sad, and a bit... boring. I don't want to sound like I'm undermining their work, but there's so much potential and fun that could be had if they try new stuff. They're undoubtedly skilled and well-versed on our world's geography after drawing it for years, but what if they stretch their borders? Like drawing Middle-Earth, Tatooine, or the plain Moon? Sounds challenging, but refreshing.

They probably would if you asked and supplied the maps or paid for them to source them, would cost extra though I imagine.

I love it!!! I love everything traditional in this world that strives for modernization. To the people behind this, keep the passion burning! 😊😊
That’s some nice looking globes. So talented
that globe at the end.... stunning! wonderful craftsmanship
Wow okay, I am so glad I clicked on this. The editing and directing was so simple and fun. I loved this!!
joy watching this. glad to see people still stick on to real craftsmanship.
I love the cinematography on this
It makes us imagine things indeed. That's where inspiration comes from. It fuels our imaginations, curiosity, and appreciation for the greater things in life. I remember my globe as a child was a mere spherical "tin-can" about 7 cm in diameter, and I was very fond of that blue little thing.
"an overly simplified explanation of an exceedingly arduous process" is such a British way of saying- It isn't as easy as it looks.
These are so aesthetically pleasing.
Thank you for the wonderful FLAT model drawing at the end.... means a lot to me...
So very besutiful! When I was a volunteer as a " grandpa" at the library, loved to show the little kids places they lived and places they had seen and visited on the globe. If finances allowed, would love a large, hand crafted globe on my lecturn, centered between my bookcases.
Wow this is what I call amazing things I wish I could get one of these handmade globes ❤❤
Wow! Who knew that it took that long to make a globe!
Thank you for sharing this
YES! Great video, great craft! Absolutly awesome.
Something I never thought I needed in life..And now I want one
You could say that this job means the world to them
Fantastic! I always wondered how this was done
I like the owners style thanks for the inspiration.
So honoured to know this family the amount of media now is phenomenal 😮
I teach in Korea and had to teach very young elementary students. I looked for a globe to show them where I had come from, and found only one globe in the entire school. I asked the kids what the largest country was. They all shouted "KOREA!" I then asked them to point it out on the globe and none of then could. The digital age is having an effect on the kids reality. They see stuff on a screen and cannot equate it to the real world.

because as we have seen they are handmade and it takes a month to create. not only that but i can assume that they are using high quality (expensive) materials and they are skilled craftsmen/women/people and probably get paid a higher wage than a McDonalds worker not to mention that they are based in London so they need to adjust for inflated rent and pay their workers a living wage for London, England. Not only are all of these expenses calculated toward the end price, but the bills that the company must pay to stay in business have a factor on the price as well. Not to mention that this is a business and they do need to make a profit. 1000 euros for handmade as opposed to 100 euros for a mass produced globe. Besides, the people who have an interest in bespoke globes are more likely to be able to afford a bespoke globe.
