    4:18 this artwork is an appropriation of a very famous painting that was made during the Rococo art movement, its literally one of the first paintings that comes up when you search for Rococo art. (FYI by appropriation i don't mean stealing or anything negative)

    If you're a fan of Tangled, I can't recommend the animated series (Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure) enough! The colours, designs and textures are just gorgeous - I need to go back and pause it sometimes to ogle the backgrounds. It also managed to capture the rhythm of the humour well, too. I haven't finished the whole thing yet, but thus far, I also think the story is pretty darn good!

    I guess, I finally have to get that book:D Too much great stuff in there. By the way - the image with Rapunzel on a swing from the first pages is most likely homage to Fragonard’s most famous painting The Swing:) And hi there from Poland!:D

    It was Tangled’s concept art that compelled me to learn how to view art. When I read that Glen was inspired by the painting, The Swing, I looked it up. I was stunned. I wanted to know what I was looking at. I ended up taking an art appreciation class at a local community college. I loved it!

  • @spongebob03

    @@AwakeningWings The teacher used to project the art on this huge screen. Sitting in that dark room, having discussions, dissecting each piece, was a transformative experience. I remember The Swing being in the textbook. At a certain point, I knew the strictest of the class. How many pages we would cover, each class. The Swing was coming up, soon. The day I knew we would discuss it, the teacher surprised us with a movie. The next class, I was running late. By the time I got there, they were just finishing up the discussion on The Swing! I was heartbroken! 😞😂

  • @AwakeningWings

    @AwakeningWings

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@spongebob03 That's really cool. I had to do research on most of the eras we went over and "The Swing" was one of them I remembered well because I've seen it in a film. No one mentioned "The Swing" being in the Frozen movie in class, so I talked about the painting. I went online and searched up things about the painting who painted it, the style of it, and a lot of other things. That painting has a natural flow to it and the colors are so beautiful. It's so youthful too and it reminded me of my childhood playing on a swing. (No dark meaning behind it lol. I just had a swing that was made for me when I was younger; the swing was attached to a tree.) No wonder Disney used it as a reference and also paintings in their movies. Also, I know a band that used "The Swing" as a reference in their music video. (You may have heard of the band; it's BTS.) You were ready to discuss the painting, but you missed it. I'm so sorry you missed it, but you knew about the painting that's what matters :)

  • @spongebob03

    @spongebob03

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@AwakeningWings your thoughts on the painting are very interesting. Especially when I think back to that day in class and my classmates interpretations (what I did hear! 😂). Just goes to show you, art means something different to everybody. Also, how you view the world. Most people would look at that painting and say, “oh, it pretty!” Something along those lines. Especially a child. Others, who know the history behind it, would agree, but could point out the dark meaning behind it. Suddenly, your looking at it differently, without diminishing its beauty. It’s like life! 😂 I was reading about Tangled, before it was released. I was at work, reading a Glen Keene interview and his inspirations. I looked up the painting and gasped out loud! 😂 After seeing that painting, I noticed how scenery fades, as you look further ahead. If I’m making sense! How rays of light shines through trees. If I’m in the right environment, life suddenly feels dreamy. I totally changed me! I’m familiar with BTS. Their dancing reminds me of Michael Jackson. I did not know about them using the painting.

  • @AwakeningWings

    @AwakeningWings

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@spongebob03 That's true, everyone views art differently. There's a lot more to that painting, the brush strokes, color choice, pose, camera angle, or angle. The Rococo style is interesting. I do think it's pretty too lol I mean this painting could have a darker meaning; it probably does. I agree. I love Glen Keene's drawings, all of them have a flow to them, especially with hair. Oh, I know what you mean. When objects that are farther away are less detailed or blurred, it makes environment artwork more realistic. The Rococo style uses a lot of pastel colors and has a softer tone to it. I understand :) Yes, rays of light in a forest/woods give it a dreamy feel. It's difficult to actually paint that. I love atmospheric environments in paintings. It's amazing how art can change your perspective on things. Yeah, their Dynamite performances remind me of Micheal Jackson. They have a music video called "Blood, Sweat & Tears." That one has many artworks. There are different paintings of the fall of Icarus if you really look at the music video. One of the guys is on a swing during the music video, which is in reference to "The Swing." He's also seen floating but that had to do with the story of Icarus. (Check it out if you are interested.)
