The Arken Zulus HD 3 x 12 Short to long range results out to 94 yards

In this video I put the Arken Zulus HD 3 x 12 R on the BSA R10 Mk2 and head to the range. I do the initial zero and input the ballistics app with the rifle and weather conditions configurations.
This scope and rifle combination, along with the Bisley magnum pellet gave some extremely good results. The rangefinder is manufactured to shoot down to 5 yards, and out to 1000 yards. In my case it works down to 4 yards. Arken had listened to feedback on the original 5 x 20 version, particularly those air rifle shooters in the UK, who shoot rats and vermin at close range. The lower x3 zoom and the shorter range of the rangefinder, makes this scope great for air gunners, who rarely shoot much more than 50 yards. As can be seen in the video, the scope is still capable of shooting at longer ranges, making sure that the distance parameters are put into the ballistics app.
For this test, this scope gave me my best ballistic results, so far. I was hitting every target, quite consistently from 4 yards, out to 94 yards, with the occasional miss, or dry fire shot. All in all, a great new scope product to the Arken's night vision range.

Yes, from the scopes rangefinder, so from that to the end of the barrel, no more than 12 inches. Not enough to make a difference, though.

Yes, the scopes really are a game changer, especially for what they cost. It's like comparing a push bike to a car, compared to what it offers over a normal scope.

Hi Mark, just subscribed, seen a few of your reviews now. This one in particular caught my attention as you’re shooting R10, I’ve an Fac R12 and use pard 007. Lrf but wants better field of view scope and I’m looking closely at the Arken 312. Looks impressive. Can you tell me the mounts you use to fit the 13ml bsa rail please. Phil

It's a great scope. I used a pair of picitinny to dove rail adapters, which fit inside the weaver mount. They are only about 3mm high, so once fitted, don't make the mount much higher than if fitted to a normal picitinny rail. They are sprung so the mount fits over them and locks them in place as its tightened up.

You say it goes down to 4 yrds but that must be from the scope. Your gun and bench must be a yrd long ,so 3yrd target from gun I would assume.

What MOA mount have you got. My 3-12 is on a zero MOA picatinny rail with the 20 MOA mount and zeroed at 26 yards my Y axis is 147. I'd like it much lower than that. 0 MOA or 35 MOA mount to achieve this? Thanks.

Have you tried turning the mount around? I have a 20 MOA on my R10 at the moment, which seems central on screen at 19 yards or 30 yard zero. I also have a 0MOA mount on my 5x20. My Reximex Regime has an adjustable picitinny rail, which is a great design for a budget rifle, with that, I can adjust up or down just by loosening the front or rear screws.

Out of the 2 Mark, which do you prefer? The 3x12 or the 5x20. I only shoot short distances.

They both have their place, and both are very capable. I suppose if you want a large field of view and close range rat shots or tight spaces, then it's the 3x12. This is suitable for airgunners out to 90 yards. For those with high-powered rifles and airguns shooting foxes out to rimfire and centerfire distances, then it's the 5x20. Also, if your eyesight at looking at a small digital screen is shit like mine, then again, it's the 5x20. Even this will work on rats at 10 yards.

i couldnt use one of them for hunting, too much pressing buttons all the time for different things,ok on a bench at targets but walking through woods with all that button pressing would be a nightmare, especially leaning against trees or on fences to take a shot, thats were the old proper glass comes into play,,everyone has their own opinion.😀

It's not as bad as it may appear. Like with a normal optical scope, in most cases, you can guess your normal range hold over, but it comes into its own at long range and very close range. One press activates the rangefinder, and the second press calibrates and highlights the holdover. Plus, it is I tended for nighttime use. The next version also includes thermal, as well as ir.
