Nobody has ever sang House Of The Rising Son better than Eric Burdon. There are a lot of replicas of that song, but nobody beats the Animals version. Eric is the man!

Always loved seeing The Animals on RSTG... you knew they were going to be great right from the off... Alan Price’s keyboard playing was absolutely superb. Mickie Most was a very clever producer, who had an amazing ear for hit records, so it was a good combination for their early career.

I'm a relatively new fan (I'm 53, so no excuse for not joining sooner 'The Church of Eric & The Animals'). I've just finished watching all 3 parts of this documentary and it's kinda left me with a bit of a feeling of sadness that not only were there serious issues between the band and management, but also themselves, but the saddest part for me is that for some band members (if not all) they didn't seem to realise the gift they had having Eric as their lead singer with his uniquely raw gritty soulful voice he couldn't help but make every song sound bluesy, which it seems band members (all extremely talented in their own right) and even managment felt at times was maybe not the direction they wanted to be going in? And even the way Eric moved (which I love) Alan Price was laughing at it, well at least the way Eric's dancing was described back in the day. Sadly I think Eric was WAAAY ahead of his time and some just didn't seem to 'get him', but the more time that passes it seems the more Eric's talent is appreciated & the magnitude of it is being understood. BUT, the sadness won't last too long as all I need to do is put all this out of my mind and just listen to Eric and let him do his 'thang' and soon all will be well with the world once again. Oh and Eric was wrong, not everyone can do what he did/does, you've either got it or you haven't and oh boy, has that Man got it BIG time! 😉

He is a very bigoted 'journalist' and adds nothing of value, insight or interest to any documentary or item about music. He is one of the major reasons I stopped reading the NME in the late 70s. He and the NME based everything on their hard left politics, so you would know their opinions on an album or concert even before reading a review. Basically, it was anything Rock - baaad, anything Punk - goood, any black music - beyond criticism, Folk - baad (unless it was black), Country - baad, etc. It was like reading Pravda. And yes, I often wanted to punch him and his equally bigoted ilk.

The Animals were blues interpreters who mostly took other people's songs and structures and added a bit of their own flavor to them. The Stones were musical innovators, with an amazing song writing team, who wrote dozens of iconic rock songs and continue to fill stadiums, around the world, to this very day. It's not a beauty contest, it's rock and roll. Long lasting popularity is not "overrated." It is the will of the people filling the seats. Nobody brow beats you into buying three hundred dollar concert tickets. The music is the only thing that gets you there. Lastly, this is a documentary on The Animals. Why did The Rolling Stones even enter into your comments?
