Thanks for posting! I can't see it going over well today. My kids would be bored to tears. They would never sit through an entire set. But it's cute to us to whom it is nostalgic, albeit ridiculously corny. I feel like the world was so innocent at the time, at least in mine and Andy's country.

I understand your comment regarding American innocence in 1964 versus now. Things were perhaps simpler in some ways - no social media, we didn't know the news from second to second, we didn't "vote" on everyone's opinions, we actually learned good stuff in school, parents felt OK telling kids not to do something, music did not contain explicit lyrics accompanied by explicit videos. However, the USA in 1964 was not so innocent. Bad things happened. President Kennedy had just been assassinated. With that, many people lost hope in our future. Poverty, segregation, Jim Crow laws led to civil rights activism: peaceful marches that turned into batterings, police dog attacks, jail sentences, riots with looting and fires. The Vietnam war escalated as we feared the domino theory. Peaceful protests turned violent. Young soldiers were sent home in body bags. The support on the home front that was felt in WWII did not materialize. Even the music of the British invasion in 1964 spearheaded by the Beatles, the Stones, and others was not received well by all. My parents and grandparents actually liked the music but had problems with the new look - long hair on boys, what is this world coming to?! Every year is bad and good - evil and innocent. It's good to have the Beatles and the Stones and then to have Andy Williams and Julie Andrews. PS My mother absolutely HATED the "innocent" Osmonds. She would say, "Someone needs to tell those kids to sit down and shut up."

I LOVE how on the show she has her hair exactly like she did in the sound of music that’s probably because the sound of music was being filmed in 1964
