The Andretti Double: Indy and Charlotte 1994

In 1993, John Andretti raced in IMSA, NHRA, IndyCar, and NASCAR in the same year. In 1994, he raced in the Indy 500 and World 600 on the same day. Auto racing had never seen anything like it.

This was back when I could tell you everyone’s stats in racing, every type of racing, back before the lawyers got involved. While his "double" was covered by most racing rags at the time, his beating Budweiser King Kenny Bernstein was the big story. Imagine beating the fastest man in Top Fuel with not much more experience than a wink and a nod. Unbelievable.
