I know this sounds weird, but this is strangely relaxing to listen to. The beeps of the remote detonation, the sound of the balista shots, the little pop a gun makes when low on ammo, the armor pick ups, etc; I've played this game long enough to recognize a lot, and all the sounds mesh into a really relaxing thing for me.

I wouldn't say it's "relaxing" to me per se, but the sounds of your average Doom Eternal fight does trigger some sort of zen-like flow state feeling in me. They're very familiar sounds lol.

I went back to the base game after finishing Ancient Gods because I hadn’t finished the last 3 stages on Nightmare and I aced them easily, I swear I’ve gotten SO much better at Eternal thanks to the DLC forcing you to play better.

@@jasonkirk1996 That's what I want to do. I've made it decently far on UN in the base game and I beat the DLC on nightmare. Also made it through the entire first level of the DLC without dying too. It gives me hope in getting that gold armor.

Same dude, the DLC made me way better at DOOM Eternal, Barons are even more of a joke now to me because I’ve already fought Possessed Barons and mastered the way to fight those.

Yeah they're all tools that are all available for you and each have a use in any situation. Too many fall into the trap of "one is better than the other" when they're all perfectly viable.

Only one i dont use is the remote detonation for the rockets. My depth perception is terrible, especially when I'm busy jumping around and dodging enemy fire.

Great gameplay! I completed UN yesterday, it's so much more fun to try than the base campaign or 2016,because if you die you start with almost everything and the fights are enjoyable. My first try I died at the last phase of the boss fight and didn't even rage (quite out of character lmao), a couple other attempts and I locked it. Great dlc with a ton of replay value, loved it. Now to complete the campaign in UN...

Arcadia I agree, it’s an absolute pain having no gear in the main campaign which is what makes the first few levels so hard for me. But since Ancient Gods starts you with everything it’s much better, even if it’s really hard.

This is just pure Adrenaline and i love it

When a carcass blocks me I'm like "FUUUUUCK" but Mayo goes to his wedding as a best man and says "I respect him the way he blocks me"

Road to Ultra-Nightmare step 1 completed, I managed to beat the first level without dying once and got it mastered. Now i'm gonna keep practicing level 2.

@@muricaneagle666 Nah man, this DLC is extremely easy on Ultra violence... But on Nightmare / Ultra nightmare, there is just a huge difficulty gap. Just give him a week or two, then he'll probably be at 2 or 3 deaths total. I bet he'll be able to beat UN in a few weeks at most.

This is SO much fun to watch! Mayo not memorizing all enemies and the most efficient way, but playing the game creative and organically. Playing with such virtuosity that you can react and don't have to plan and memorize every move is so much more impressive and fun to watch. As a scientist I love you approach.

It's really interesting to see how you play and how your mod selection has changed. I like watching some of the best of the best play ultra nightmare, but I'm glad this video came out because I enjoy actually hearing your live reactions to everything.

Only watched the first few minutes. I have to say though, seeing how you cheese the enemies is truly satisfying. It’s only a matter of time before you get UN. If that is what you want.

It's great to see you someone playing without those godlike skills like those guys that fly through ultra nightmare like it's nothing. I'm only doing it on ultra violence at the moment because I don't have the confidence to try nightmare on the DLC yet. So it's a chin up to see more people not playning it flawlessly :)

I've noticed your quick switching is much better. I remember I asked in one of your streams "what is your weakest point of DOOM Eternal" and here you have improved.

" Hey guys we're playing The Ancient Gods, on uh on **Nightmare** "

Ancient Gods Pt 1 has so far made me better at Blood Punch management, weak point attacking, better utilizing stagger times, ammo type management, platforming quickly, and it finally forced me to get better with Microwave Beam (which I really appreciate the beauty of now). It's tearing me a third corn shoot on Hurt Me Plenty, and I doubt I'll ever be able to beat it legit on Ultraviolence, but I feel like the main campaign (with all them gas tanks laying around each stage!) on Nightmare is going to be a leisurely breeze now.

Mayos gameplay in this video is just sooo satisfying!!

That meat hook grab "swing" into the onslaught power up was just so on point lol small thing like that is what really make doom eternal shine gooooood shit mayo😂🔥

Watching this with megalovania in the backgound the whole time is an ascending experience

The tentacles were bastards in the swamp; they definitely had great ideas on where to put them so that they would cause you trouble in the middle of a fight.

Tip at 25:00 if you dont get close to where second guy spawns the archvile wont spawn at all

I really like how you play the game differently than other ytbers. I mean, not a lot of people use full auto, as mostly judge it to be subpar, and the vast majority of people just deem the mw beam as "almost useless". Your fighting style is refreshing.

Holy shit, looks like the brawler mode has improved your skills significantly. Quick-scope and quick switching are really smooth.

I dont know if its only me, but the hardest part of the whole game for me still is the gladiator's second phase. The only thing I acutally found to be overwhelming in this DLC were two things: the spirts arenas before Maligog's trial and the spirits you fight during the final boss. I still didnt get my UN skin but im working on it

I love your playstyle! I've been practicing using those mods. It's super fun. I saw a streamer yesterday switch to energy shield gatling gun to avoid the damage when you fall out of the map. Pretty nice.

Actually lover the lil noises and signing alone to the beat makes me feel better as a player lmao. grat vid

Glad your using the blade mod on the ballista. I just recently realized how lack luster the bomb mod's damage was when compared with the primary fire.

1:29:23 There is BFG ammo in that room in the walls, so you could've gone from 56 ammo to 60, which would've helped in the final boss fight.

I love watching high level doom gameplay I feel like these people can give us the best doom guy experience.

That Precision Bolt/Rocket combo is so killer.

I can't believe it took me that long to realise what Mojo was a reference too. Biggest OHHHH moment I've had in a long time.

"You are forced to use the sticky bombs to kill cacodemons" I mean, sure, it's one of the easier ways, but normal grenades work and the mouth that it keeps open and facing you is a weak point. Plus you can always just throw enough stuff at its outer shell to tear it apart anyways. People who say that aren't creative. Also, I love that Blood Swamps part, the design choice of having a wave-based arena with no cover but no obstructions is neat and having health and ammo just outside of it is quite clever - risk vs reward, if you can get it quickly.

@@underthemayo yeah it’s not forced but it does drill it down during the first few levels of the game to the point where you think it’s just second nature to do so, until you realise you can just use the ballista, rocket or heavy assault rifles later on. I just wish it wasn’t so heavily emphasised during the beginning of the game.

@@underthemayo hello I’ve watched your video and found it very insightful. I agreed with everything you said in the vid, especially how the game teaches you the fundamentals of combat from the beginning of the game i.e. movement, targeting weakpoints etc. I got used to Doom Eternal’s play style by the end of Doom Hunter base and I’ve been using it ever since and had lots of fun. It’s the best FPS I’ve played. Now I recognise that there are lots of ways to kill the Cacodemon but it still feels like second nature for me to kill it with the sticky bomb glory kill. Not saying that it’s forced at all for me and I understand that it was for incentivising the player to switch weapons to target weak points. It’s just that I’m so used to it cause I’ve done it so many times during my first playthrough, which was on Nightmare difficulty. I guess dying from the Cacodemon too many times during my playthrough made me think like that. That’s what I was getting at from my original comment. Anyway, I love ur vids and I can’t wait to see more.

Mayo, have you tried playing with the glory kill highlight off? I find it very satisfying getting glory kills just from the animation, and it helps with learning each enemy's health. Maybe an optional Brawler Mode rule?

death at 50 minutes could've been avoided simply by checking the arena before running into the activation. Still love watching you play either way, Mayo. Good job.
