Yes, this system would not work, and does not, for the majority of people. If their only reason for doing something is repercussion, and that repercussion happens at the end of their life, even if it’s said to be for eternity, the majority of people are far to shortsighted to follow that system, people can’t put away things that have much more present repercussions. Not to mention that it makes for a bad system of morality anyway. These problem need to be fixed my better education, not through this fear system, that while it may have worked well in the past, although I doubt it, is shown to be highly ineffective at controlling the masses in modern times.

Thing is bro, if you enforced religion on me using the state etc. I wouldn't fear God. I'd fear and resent you. For forcing me to live under a paradigm I dont want to live under. So good luck believing a fear of "God" is going to change anything. You need to win the hearts and minds of everyone if you want to enforce a religion onto a country. My atheism already accounts for my accountability. I have one life and that's it. One life to observe reality. Which means I deeply care about the reality while I live. I deeply care about the people in it, the creatures in it etc. Since I believe everyone is in the same boat, I wouldn't want to be responsible for being the antagonist in somebodies life like abusing them etc, because that's inherently so cruel to Rob them of their chance to experience what reality has to offer. Lead to my career to work in health and social care because the world is hurting right now. Just because there's no afterlife and a final judgement, doesn't mean your actions don't have consequences. The butterfly effects of your actions are very real. Sometimes they're small, but even they matter. I always thinks it's a telltale sign that someone like Nick believes you need the fear of God to stay accountable because if he didn't believe in what he believes, he truly would be a monster. So thank God there's religion to keep some people in check but... you'll never see me believe in it ever, even if force me. Plenty of incentive to do good things in the world, purely because they are the right thing to do as you can see the positive action that follows.

Following Jesus does not require being labeled anything other then Christian. Organizations can become corrupt no matter it being a secular or religious one. Example being what the catholic church has done threw the decades. So as to what religion should be adopted the answer should be none. Go to many churches and listen with an open heart then when your ready, with all the sincerity and humility you have, ask Christ for salvation and follow his teachings by living with forgiveness love and understanding towards everyone. You may stumble along the way, but know Christ will always be there with his arms out to help lift you back up and get you back on that narrow path to righteousness.
