The Amber Trust - Zoe's story

This film is about studying music at university as a blind student.
It features Zoe, who is blind and in her second year as a choral scholar at Worcester College, Oxford, her mother Aileen, and composition tutor, Robert Saxton.
Zoe’s story is a part of ‘Amber Sound Touch’, The Amber Trust’s online resource for teaching music to blind and partially sighted children and young people, including those with additional disabilities.

The Amber Trust was founded in 1995 to provide blind and partially sighted children, including those with additional disabilities, the best possible chance to meet their musical needs and aspirations and fulfil their potential. Amber aims to enhance the lives of as many of the 25,000 visually impaired children in the UK as possible through music, and to promote high quality music provision.

Zoe is highly talented regardless of her sight loss, but taking into account the challenges she overcomes, she is quite extraordinary. What a delightful young lady - and what a wonderful mother too! Zoe is one to look out for in the future. Very interesting to read about Robert Saxton her tutor too.

Zoe is a brilliant talent and I'd love to hear her interpretation of some of Oscar Petersons songs. I feel that Zoe may really have an advantage over sighted musicians who have to read the notes.

Funny you should say that , she with the lack of vision uses music to expand her mind . Charly she's in touch with her subconscious savant mind . That in normal people of perfect fusion scaresly use their INTIRE eye like the savant do . You see our subconscious child is connected to our peripheral vision wile the only thing we of normal use is the strength forward vision . Wile the subconscious perliphial vision is always on to protect us our subconscious child protecting us by our perliphial vision ..! Between perliphial and center vision that's just how close they are to us every day YET NO ONE KNOWS THEY EXIST . Autistic savant read with their entire eye center and perliphial, at the same time , with their center eye just a focal point to them ..!

Because she reads and remembers the INTIRE sheet music page .. Savant read with the INTIRE eye 👁️ not just center vision like all the rest of us ..!
