Have you read Brand New Day? 🕷 What do you think of Dan Slott’s Spider-Man run? 📚🤔

It's awesome that you did a review of volume 1 because I just read volume 1 last week. I thought it was really good and a good starting point for any that has never read a spiderman run before. I thought the humor in the book was top notch. I loved how the new owner of the daily bugle kept saying Peter's name wrong up until he fired him. And Jameson was hilarious as always.

Thanks for this showcasing this! One of these days I want to do a semi-comprehensive modern Spider-Man read. Some of Slotts run sounds really interesting. Loved JMS’s run!

That’s where I’m at, loved JMS and have enjoyed what I’ve read of Slott’s but haven’t read much. I know I saw on NearMintCondition that they’re released a Brand New Day Omni next year so thought I’d give this a re-read/review 💪🕷 Super fun read! Thanks for swinging through

I wasn't happy with One More Day but I did decide to check out Brand New Day {I have these in floppies} and I have to admit that I enjoyed the freshness and vibrancy of these stories. I knew it wouldn't last so I stopped buying it after these issues. I have avoided most Spider-Man comics since because I am still upset about One More Day. I can't deny that these were good though. It did make me chuckle when the guy who ran the homeless shelter thought that Peter Parker was homeless because he wasn't wearing shoes and thought that Aunt May worked there to try to find Peter. Good review Dominick.

Oh man One More Day ha, definitely a much maligned comic by many. Agreed this was such a fresh start for the character! You definitely picked a great comedic moment, I enjoyed that as well! I think Brand New Day adeptly handled the transition to the new creative team and effectively created a new norm/baseline for the character moving forward after the shakeup that occurred in One More Day. As always thank you for swinging through 🕷 I’m glad you enjoyed the review! Personally I’m hoping to read more of Slott’s run. I know he was on the title forever and so far I’ve just dabbled

Really excited for the omnibus of this run, especially given that I also thoroughly enjoyed that Spider-Man PS4 game. I believe Dan Slott acted as a consultant on certain parts of the game, so it makes sense to see some similarities there. Thanks for the review!

Oh I didn’t realize that! It would make sense, that video game really felt like it borrowed from this Slot era! 🕷️ I’m excited for that Omni too but man I’ve got to save up so many good Omnis coming out I need to pick and choose 😱

Sounds like a good story, Dan Slotts writing is always pretty solid. Always a fan of fresh starts on characters. I still need to play those Spider-Man games man 😭

Yeah I enjoyed it, wanted a refresh before the omnibus comes out next year 😁👏 I haven’t read a ton of Slott’s work in general, but I’ve liked what I have read. Have you read his recent Fantastic Four run? And yes, the ps4 game is a High Recommend if you’re also a gamer 💪🕷

I’ve heard such polarizing things about Slott’s run but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read. I know when this book came out it was a big paradigm shift from the previous run. I think this storyline started Slott’s run off on a great foot :) I really enjoyed my re-read for this review and it was particularly fun to read this after playing the ps4 video game which drew heavily from this material. Overall a fun experience for me. I think if you’re not a Spidey reader and are looking for recommendations there are better reads available, but I enjoyed this a great deal more than I expected to which is always nice 💪👍🕷 Out of curiosity if you’re not a Spidey reader what kind of comics do you read? :)

@@TheComicBookReport My primary reads are Moon Knight, Miles Morales (mostly Saladin Ahmed) and Flash, starting we Rebirth. That's when I jumped into comics. Also, Transformers is starting to be my jam.

Excellent! :) always curious to hear what people enjoy. I haven’t read a ton of moon knight lately but I’ve been wanting to give Lemire’s run a read! I’m also dying to dive into Miles Morales, I pre-ordered the Bendis omnibus reprints coming in a few months. Have you read the Bendis MM stuff?

@@TheComicBookReport I read the first six issues. I've been meaning to get back to it. Also, Lemire was my first MK read. I was thoroughly confused because I didn't know the character. I reread recently and it was amazing.

@@FlashByKnight yeah I’ve dabbled with the character before and know what he’s about, read some issues here and there. Do you think that’s sufficient to jump into Lemire’s run? Or would you recommend some prerequisite reading first? 🌙

I never was a fan of brand new day because it did so much damage for Spider-Man and to make it worse it took place after the horrible one more day story which ruined everything for Spider-Man in my opinion.

I get that One More Day definitely roughly shook up the status quo for our favorite Wall-Crawler. I will say I enjoyed reading this quite a bit more my second time through 🕷️ What are some of your favorite Spider-Man stories? 😃

@@TheComicBookReport i can understand that and honestly I am glad you enjoy this storyline more then I did, also to answer your question my favorite Spider-Man stories are these storylines: Kraven last hunt The birth of venom Spider-Man Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael bendis Nick spencer Spider-man run I thought was great Spider-Man getting married to his wife mary jane Finally my all time favorite Spider-Man story is Spider-girl mayday parker by tom defaco and Ron frenze which is technically my all time favorite series growing up. :)

Ok, i didn't like this. I think brand new day had some good stories later on, and i did like Dan slott's run as a whole, but those first issues, i didn't care for. Spoiler: who said menace is a he?

😯😱 I need to read more! Ha 🕷️🕷️🕷️ I liked these issues but I didn’t initially because I’m a big fan of the JMS era and Maryjane + Peter so BND’s new status quo took me a minute to adjust to. I did like this more the second time through when I read for this review
