I found Japanese pressings to be the best out there, mid to late 60es to late 70es especially. Haven't bought any recent pressings from Japan so can't talk to those but I believe they would be equally as great.

I love Japanese vinyl pressings. I actually have a Japanese pressing“The Stranger” by Billy Joel in a frame with the obi strip and all. Just recently, I just bought Suzi Quatro’s debut album for only $15 and it’s surprisingly a Japanese pressing of it.

We really need a catalogue of the Japanese pressings that used og tapes and got the good mastering treatment. Because yes the vinyl quality is great but the mastering and tape quality isn't always.

Gorgeous collection, well acquired, thanks for sharing and good luck with the sales. Loving the Maiden records. Though, the PoM and SiT LPs are regular editions (narrower OBIs) but sometimes they still came with posters as they had overstock. The amount of extras in the SiT special/deluxe LP makes it extra nice. At least you have the best 12" single with it's laser etched vinyl and unusually, it has a cool poster (my favourite J-vinyl). Would love to have seen if your LAD LP had the crossword puzzle (mines missing). I need 6 more J-IM for my collection. Hoping to see the J-specialist at the fairs soon, haven't seen him in nearly 2 years.

Be sure to look out for that nice red everclear vinyl - I do enjoy both the sound and the look. CCR, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Sinatra, are a few that immediately come to mind.

Japanese pressing of hard rock and heavy metal albums are the BEST both in terms of the sound quality and the quality of everything from the jacket to inner sleeves 👍🏼 The majority of Japanese pressings of heavy metal records are extremely exorbitant and rare even here in Tokyo, but they are well worth the purchase because most of them often come in pristine condition as if they just came out of pressing plants yesterday

I have many Japanese Jazz records and I have to disagree when people say they have no bass. I think they sound great. I just bought a 1500 piece Heavy Metal collection, my biggest find ever and there where some Japanese Kiss records included, I will listen to them before I sell them. I got the collection because I was the only one with enough money in the pocket to buy this big collection, you have to be prepared. I will make good money with selling even if I had to pay a premium.

I own King Crimson: "In the Court of the Crimson King" (I have lost the strip through the years or may have bought it from a friend without it). On the Hoffman Forum thread and some of the other KZread Heavy Hitters it is almost universally despised. I think it sounds phenomenal and sends shivers down my spine as it did the first time I heard it on Atlantic Records in 1969. Now, having said this, I also own the newly remastered Robert Fripp/Steve Wilson Reissue from 2010 from the recovered long lost tapes finally found in 2003 or 2004. Much different mix, different feel and I love it. But would not trade my Japanese Pressing for all the tea in China or Japan. I opted to go for the MoFi when it came to Led Zeppelin II. No regrets. Oh, and have the Japanese Pressing of Fleetwood Mac's "Bare Trees". Oh my.

There is a certain charm about Japanese records, but the myth that these are always superior is a bit an urban legend. Although the Maidens would like nice in my wall.

My gut says the source of each album/release is unique, just like in every other country. And honestly, I've listened to a ton of these over the past few weeks and could care less about the source...because they sound (and look) amazing. That's what matters to me, and to most.
