After crash landing on a desolate planet with a scorching star, Jan must avoid the murderous conditions by taking refuge in a cutting-edge mobile base. The only issue? It’s meant to be operated by a skilled team and he’s just Jan.
Thankfully, fate takes a turn with the discovery of Rapidium, a mysterious substance exclusive to this perilous world. Interacting with the Quantum Computer on board the mobile base allows Jan to manipulate pivotal decisions from his past-creating alternate versions of himself known as Alters-that have the potential to change everything.
The Alters are indispensable allies and they possess diverse skill sets crucial for repairing the base, sustaining life, crafting essential tools, and mining precious resources. However, they’re also more than mere taskbots, with each operating as a sentient being, complete with unique emotions, goals, and even a dash of existential doubt thrown in. While this does potentially open the door for chaos, their collective goal remains the same: survive, escape, and do it all by themselves.
The Alters will launch later this year for PC and consoles. The game will also be coming to both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for console upon its release.

Star Diaries by Stanislaw Lem were first published in 1957.
The fact that Jan is not just a biological clone, but Jan in an alternative version, with different experience and skills sounds very interesting. I wonder if there will be interactions that may involve jealousy, such as Jan being in a relationship with a woman that ordinary Jan experienced rejection or anger because one of the Jans had much greater career success, maybe even had more loving parents... This game may be an interesting take on how the environment shapes a person.

There will definitely be plenty of jealousy, anger and more between different versions of Jans. We called it the emotional management part of the game!

11bit's ability to write narratives that play on Self v Self v Environment context is some of the best game design in the last 10 years. They did it with FP and TWOM, and with this looking to be a direct evolution in their formula; it scratches an itch that no other games can. Soooo excited for this

I feel like everything 11 bit creates is like a tropical oasis in a desolate desert. Such unique ideas stand out and shine compared to other games on the market. Keep up the good work!

Was thinking the same thing. 11bit stand out as one of my top dev companies currently. They represent the passion for interesting and unique games that is lacking in the commercial, corporate gaming studios! The same goes for GGG and EHG as well! I am currently having a blast with Last Epoch, can't wait for POE2 to come out and it's all in when FP2 and the Alters come out as well. These games are phenomenal!
This game looks ambitious and Moon is one of my favorite movies so this goes straight to my Steam wishlist 👀

I only recently discovered 11 Bit Studios, and through all of the games and stories this studio is promising. If they actually do it well (which they clearly has so far) then they will 100% soon take over the industry

Holy sh*t this looks even better than expected! I feel it's like a mixture of both very awe inspiring but at the same time anxiety inducing gameplay, with all the tension going on there, whilst fighting for survival... First Frostpunk 2, and then The Alters - this is gonna be a good year! :)

This storyline is even more intriguing that I've originally thought it would be like! Hats off to the writers team, that's one exciting story that I'd love to explore!

Man, I played both TWOM and Frostpunk to bits, who do I miss this? I'm very excited! Here's hoping you guys would one day make Story Driven RPG, with complete worldbuilding. A mature genre of RPG, with deep lore, tough decisions, grounded characters. But for now, I'll enjoy what I can.

Love the idea of different paths leading to "different" characters while all being one person. It allows for a natural bond to be there that's gonna be fun to explore.

Thaumaturge was developed by Fool's Theory studio, 11Bit are only publishing Thaumaturge. Fool's Theory are currently working on The Witcher 1 remake.

I've been waiting this game for over one year and a half. By watching the trailer I'm sure I'll buy it. Awesome storylines by 11bit studio. Also, really cool on how they merged the 2.5D base logic of This War of Mine with open world exploration. Really something out of the box. Congratulations team.

11 Bit Studios must have been fans of the movie MOON with Sam Rockwell. I don't blame them. I love that movie. They definitely do their own twist to the premise. But you can clearly see inspiration. I'm 100% for this.

Looks very cool. Long time follower. Finally some gameplay. So it's exploration and base management. I'm hoping the exploration is extensive, secretly wishing for a traversal and collectaton Death Stranding type deal. The base inside a wheel to escape the burning dayside is quite clever. I wonder if there is anything in the game to justify how it stays upright.
