Travelled over 2,500 miles in '73 to see/hear this band by bus as air/train strikes on! Air con on bus broke down while going through prairies during heat wave (people puking all over bus. Driver said push or kick out windows!! Concert line-up: James Cotton Blues Band, Boz Scaggs then the Allman Brothers! What a treat and night!! Ticket cost $5.00, evening forever priceless!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful memories of driving on vacation across our great country with my kids and my high school sweetheart wife that passed away 20 years ago. Thank you brother!! You will be missed.
If you ever saw the Allman Brothers live you were surely blessed. ❤😢RIP DB

At 66 years old I was 15 in 1973 and my 21 year old brother and I joined the carnival that summer and traveled with them for 6 weeks around Michigan. My Bro is gone now 10 years and so whenever this song comes on I have good memories of that summer

RIP dickie!! Musical legend!!
It was one hell.of a ride. Oh yeah. 😁🍺👍❤
All time favorite band ,no one sounded like them when they hit the scene!
One of the greatest songs ever made & Betts one of the greatest guitarists ever!

Do your homework, guy! How should Duane play a song that he does not even know? The song is from 1973 and he unfortunately died in 1971

Z1000Jeff I think Duane had more soulful solos, but Dickey was the more rounded guitarist. He could play lead and lay down rhythm second to none in rock.

@@chuckydall9250 of course. Dickey is the better rhythm player imo. Also, the more accomplished musician. He could write hits. Don't believe Duane had much prowess in that regard.

Absolutely sensational. Strange Mr Betts wasn’t generally mentioned when people argued over who were the top guitarists of the 60s and 70s. Listening to this, it’s hard to think of anyone better - on a par, but not better.

Dickey is probably the most melodic guitarist ever, but i can give you a few better in my opinion,God (only God can create a Stairway), Paul Kossoff, Richie Blackmore, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Angus + George Young. There's a few. But yes, Dickey is right up there high on the list, along with Duane, pretty much the only 2 Septics i rate.

Had no idea Dickey Betts was such a shredder! There's a lot of music out there to listen to and I admittedly know way more about jazz than i do blues swampy rock but he's a great picker!
