This song meant little to me when I was in my 20s. I'm almost 70 and now it means everything. The loves I've won and then lost with their passing. Family and friends. Things that you wanted to say and do while they were alive but didn't or couldn't for whatever reasons. You then realize that it all went by in the blink of an eye. Unstoppable. When I was a kid the summers seemed to go on forever. I was 13 when the Beatles first appeared on Ed Sullivan and then all the other bands that followed them, How lucky we were to be there at the start of it all and witness it unfolding, Then this song comes along and makes you face reality that it's all coming to an end and maybe sooner that you think. That's why this song is in a class by itself and maybe just a smidgen behind In My Life and then again maybe not. Only time will tell.

I wasn't really interested in this song but now that Im 70 it has meaning. I agree about being here when the Beatles etc came along. I saw them when they came to San Diego in 1965. That was the only time they came to San Diego. It was outside & back then the sound system wasn't anything like they are today. So between that & screaming girls you weren't really able to hear it good. Im a woman & believe me I wanted to knock them out👊 LOL. I wish I kept my ticket stub but I do have my ticket stub for a Elvis concert😊

I WAS BORN IN THE MID 50S. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE THE BEST MUSIC EVER, 60S 70S AND 80S. NEVER HEAR THAT ERAS MUSIC AGAIN.

The airiness of his voice is just perfect for this song, Then he open's it up so gently into the chorus with just a touch of power and resolution right before he get's to a rock steady falsetto. Just beautiful. If they don't play this at my funeral, I'm not going.

I love Alan Parsons Project! As someone who is barely a Boomer (born in 1963), and someone who appreciated and loved music from a young age, I got to experience the music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I am truly blessed.

In the dark days, weeks, and months following my late-wife's death, this song became a constant companion. I carried my grief for many years until I was finally able to claw my way out of that pit of despair and sorrow. It has been a decade since her passing and I still wonder, "Who knows when we shall meet again, if ever..." This song is so achingly beautiful that every time I hear it I am brought to tears. "And time keeps flowing like a river... to the sea."

completely agree. It was somewhere in the very late 80's that things started downhill, then by the early 90's it died, I swear. And at least the next 20 years it seemed that most was garbage that came out. Hopefully it'll start to swing back to this type of music. And it would be nice to have people like this and Morten Harket from a-ha that could actually sing, no computer enhancement or things done to their voice. But like this video, there are those that can still actually sing, and this was 2013 so maybe it's finally going this way now that it's 2021.

I and my stoner mates in the mid 70’s loved and still love Alan Parsons contribution to our lives. We all survived and are doing just fine.

In my 80's and this song is MAGNIFICENT!!! brings tears every time I listen. Enjoy every day folks as we never know when we will be "Timed Out". The orchestra is incredible as is the conductor! Such a beautiful rendition. Kudos to you Alan as well as orchestra.

PJ OLSSON is the singer and what a gift you have, sir! This is a beautifully orcestrated and tremendously moving song. That Alan would have you singing this part is a gesture of perfection on his part. The best it's ever been done in my estimation. I bow to you both.

It was played at the funeral of Jenny Isford who was raped and murdered steps from her home. Jenny was a beautiful 20 year old Toronto Sunshine girl in 1981. So tragic.

At the age of 81, all the things in my life have, for the most part, gone forever. Still with me are the results of that life. This recording of Time is one of them. I thought the original was beautiful, but this one is so perfect that it hurts to hear it, but hear it I must. It keeps flowing like a river, to the sea.

Probably the finest version of that song ever done. Olsson's voice is amazing even now.

You can't deny the incredible vocals and accompanying music in perfect unison one of the early 1980's best kept secrets, I defy anyone to honestly give it a thumbs down without explaining... WHY!!!!, it's quite simply a gorgeous song from start to finish and truly one we can all relate to again if we're honest.

I love when prog rock groups pair with symphony orchestras because it becomes clear how integral they are to each other. Just beautiful. I love this song.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, made even greater by adding an orchestra. It's astonishing how the music so perfectly conveys the rhythm of time. If time had a soundtrack, it would sound exactly like this.

My beautiful wife Tammie left me forever, yesterday afternoon. All I could do as I watched her leave, was to keep saying "I'm Sorry", for not being able to do more to keep her with me. She will never know how much I will miss her.

Yeah this song had a effect on me too. Being 63 it brought me to tears thinking of how many family members on both sides my mom's and dads how had passed away including my own dad who passed away in 2017.

Everybody’s perfectly in sync with the vocalist as his unique touch never strays from the feel of this song.

I was watching the video of P J Olson singing this in 1981. It was fantastic and this is more recent where he has aged some but his rendition and delivery of this song is pure heaven. I do love his voice and vocals. He has been blessed with an angelic sound.

To clarify, the alleged 1981 live version with PJ Olson on KZread is actually a performance from 2004. The song was released in 1981 (so perhaps that’s why it says 1981). But PJ would have been 12 years old in 1981. If there are any live versions of the song from 1981, it would undoubtedly be Eric Woolfson (who wrote the song & originally sang it). At any rate, this is a magnificent performance by PJ.

I just started listening to APP again and this version of that song is FANTASTIC! The original will forever be awesome but PJ made this version his own. I didn’t even know who he was. His vocal range is great and his voice is powerful wherever he’s at in that range. A lot of singers have his range but lack his endurance and their sound gets weaker as they move into the higher range and lower range. And did I mention, I like the way he works the crowd and stage; he’s awesome!! Alans got himself a gem there.

It's 2023 and I still hear this song and cry. This was my mother's favorite song...

Every so often during a live performance magic happens and everyone in the audience is spellbound. The first time I watched this performance, I was blown away by this song and the tears just flowed at the sheer emotion in PJ Olsson's voice! He totally nailed it and what's more I've just bought the CD better late than never! Thank you The Alan Parsons Project for a wonderful performance! 🙂

I am slightly younger and this song has been one of my all time favourite since it came out. I find it the PERFECT song

I agree, it's a great song... Those words, "Who knows when we shall meet again", Reminds me of the hope that is in Christ JESUS.... 1st Thessalonians Chapter 4:16-17 KJV v.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: v.17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with "Them" in the clouds, to "MEET" the Lord in the air: and so shall "WE" ever be with the Lord. v.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. One of the most haunting songs ever written and performed!

This perfectly performed song touches the soul. We are lucky to be alive in a time of humanity that we hear, see and feel such splendid pieces of musical mastery. Who know what great songs they'll be that we will never know after we are all dead and gone but surely this song will stand the test of time and endure well into the future. Music is a blessing.

I lost my lover to a drunk driver some years ago and because of bad blood with his parents, I was banned from the funeral and cemetery. When I depart this sad, disgusting planet, this is one of three songs played when I am buried in a natural burial cemetery. I hope there is an afterlife (and with music because eternity would be extremely boring without it). RIP Nikko. Love you and miss you.

Que hermosa canción !!!!.... agradezco a mi padre por enseñarme a escuchar buena musica.. hoy en día prefiero mil veces escuchar esta música maravillosa.... Genios... que son capaces de tocar las fibras más sensibles de nuestro ser. Ahora envidio a mi padre por haber disfrutado de ésta preciosa música en su momento.

Currently, I must die twice. Once for Time and the other for Old and Wise. Regarding PJ Olsson, he's one helluva singer. Extraordinary range and I really like the "frustrated" stage actor in him. With emotion, he works the stage perfectly.

This song has just made me burst into tears. So damn deep, and great and awesome!!!

Omg I still get that tingling feeling as when I heard it at age 12 and it's March 2021 I'm turning 53.

This performance sounds better than the original. Incredible quality.

I chose this to be played from me at my dads funeral, they couldnt play this exact version which is what I fell in love with unfortunately. His voice is perfect and makes my hair stand on end 🤗❤

Who knows what greatness this songs will continue to be after we pass - That WE will never know after we are all dead and gone and turned into dust - Surely this song will stand the test of time and endure well into the future. A masterpiece !

We are a very blessed generation - us Baby Boomers. I'm 71 now. I think I've experienced all the emotions ever written - from Alan Parsons to Smokey Robinson, lol! Time has gone by like a river. As the current is beginning to slow, I raise my hands and thank Almighty God for His love and for allowing me to be a member of the best generation ever! Peace ✌

Listening to this song after our kitty boy Spaz died 5 days ago. We were blessed with him for 14 years. He was a loyal, comforting, loving, funny part of our every day routines. His absence is jarring. Its a reminder not to waste our time here on earth on things we have no control over. Find what's important in your life and don't take it for granted.

What can you add to that? As a life long musician who plays many instruments and sings, this is one powerful song. Let the music move you!

Have tears in my eyes. My sister lost the love of her life last week and she is who I'm thinking about. So sad for her.

This is one of those songs which I almost don't want to listen to because it speaks a sad, melancholy truth, and yet it is beautiful, timeless, ethereal, and every so often draws me back.
