The Alan Parsons Project - To One In Paradise (1976)

Музыка

To One In Paradise (audio) taken from the album Tales of Mystery And Imagination.
F I could see the sky above
And my mind could be set free
As wild white horses reached the shore
I'd stand alone and oversee
And if the bush before me burns
Should I turn my eyes away
And still the voices I can hear
As clear to me as light of day
I believed in my dreams
Nothing could change my mind
Now I know what they mean
How could I be so blind
Cold sands of time
(Winds that blow as cold as ice
Sounds that come in the night)
Shall hide what is left on me
(Come from Paradise)
I've been through times when no one cared
(Words that were mine)
I've seen clouds in empty skies
When one kind word meant more to me
(Shall last as a memory)
Than all the love in Paradise
I believed in my dreams
Nothing could change my mind
Till I found what they mean
Nothing can save me now

209 k views 😞 A dream of a song with the poem at the end wonderfull... " ERIC WOOLFSON was the main songwriter and lyricist for the APP writing 95% of the music and 100% of the lyrics. He also sang lead vocal on many of the APP’s greatest hits including ‘Eye in the Sky’, ‘Time’ and ‘Don’t Answer Me’. He played keyboards on practically every APP track recorded. He was also the manager of the APP and handled all the business side. It was his decision to call it ‘The Alan Parsons Project’ - a choice he often described as both the best and worst in his career. The best because he got to enjoy the success of his work without any of the fame. The worst in that generally no one outside the music industry had a clue who he was! " More allround then for example Elton John, the man was a genius ! Yet unknown to the public... RIP

The lead vocal on this track was sung by Terry Sylvester, from The Hollies. Terry replaced Graham Nash in 1968 as Graham Nash went on to be the "N" in CSNY. As a member of the Hollies, Terry was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Terry still performs today (2019)...is also a good chap too!!

Those two last versus, reminds me so much of my Momma. I sang this song for her as her casket was lifted and taken tothe hearse..."In what ethereal dances, I walk eternal streams."That was my mother and always what she was. A beautiful women who wondered and appreciated nature as she found it. This was one of her request, that I sing this at her funeral, and I simply hope I did her justice, simply because she wears and love, devotion and and acknowledgement on her sleeve. Sleep well, Momma, I'll be with you, one day....

What a beautiful tribute to your mother. She is watching over you. Your mother's angels will keep you until you are reunited with her. You will be with her again -- and Forever in Paradise. The Lord Jesus will see to that. My mother (Helen) said this tune is just too beautiful for words. I agree. I will see my mother again and be with her, Forever, in Christ's Kingdom. Peace be your journey. -- W 😇🙏✝

I believe The Alan Parsons Project is the second underrated band of all time after Camel. Some people heard of this band, "Eye in the Sky" has been viewed 71 Million times in KZread. If you ask someone if they know Camel, they would probably say: "Hell yeah I know Camel cigs!" which is very disappointing...

For My Eternal Love (Barbra Rose) as she sits in her rose garden in Heaven (her home since Nov. 22, 2010). Play your harp, sing, and make the angels blush on Christmas 2012, My Eternal Love, My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife,My Barbra Rose. Jesus sent you into my life to love me and to make me a better man. You did just that, My Darling of Darlings, Barbra. Come back and take my hand as the end of this song plays. Together, we'll walk into the light of a billion suns. Barbra - I love you beyond Time.

I also have this album on both CD and LP record and I keep them in pristine condition. The LP of it that I have is an original from when the first run of the album was first released. It is quite a piece of APP history because it still has the shrink wrap plastic on it with just the open side slit open enough to get the record out. The plastic still has the old 1975 K-Mart sticker on it. The price is shown as $1.89 and I bought the record with money made from hunting down soda bottles and cashing them in at the grocery store. Wow, to go back to those days of such prices and incredible music. And yes, I do agree that this Edgar Allan Poe album is their best album. I, Robot comes in a close second.

I added a comment, Norris...and don't know where it went. It was something like this: I realize Alan Parson's Project used lots of different soloist. I believe he did a small amount of the lead vocal work...mostly harmony vocals. So, you are correct but my comment was made in a general term referring to the group...I wasn't referring to him as an individual but the group since it is called Alan Parson's Project. Thanks for the addition to what I said. We certainly can agree we enjoy the music and the many facets that make it up!

Thou wast that all to me, love, For which my soul did pine- A green isle in the sea, love, A fountain and a shrine, All wreathed with fairy fruits and flowers, And all the flowers were mine. Ah, dream too bright to last! Ah, starry Hope! that didst arise But to be overcast! A voice from out the Future cries, “On! on!”-but o’er the Past (Dim gulf!) my spirit hovering lies Mute, motionless, aghast! For, alas! alas! with me The light of Life is o’er! No more-no more-no more- (Such language holds the solemn sea To the sands upon the shore) Shall bloom the thunder-blasted tree, Or the stricken eagle soar! And all my days are trances, And all my nightly dreams Are where thy grey eye glances, And where thy footstep gleams- In what ethereal dances, By what eternal streams

If I could see the sky above And my mind could be set free As wild white horses reached the shore I'd stand alone and oversee And if the bush before me burns Should I turn my eyes away And still the voices I can hear As clear to me as light of day I believed in my dreams Nothing could change my mind Now I know what they mean How could I be so blind Cold sands of time (Winds that blow as cold as ice Sounds that come in the night) Shall hide what is left of me (Come from Paradise) I've been through times when no one cared (Words that were mine) I've seen clouds in empty skies When one kind word meant more to me (Shall last as a memory) Than all the love in Paradise I believed in my dreams Nothing could change my mind Till I found what they mean Nothing can save me now

I still have the original vinyl of mine that I bought just a few days after the release of this album. It even still has the cellophane wrap that is cut only at the edge where the record is taken out of the box and it has the original Sound Warehouse sticker on it showing the price. $2.49! Can't get NUTHIN' for that price these days! The record itself is in pristine condition and, of course, with the jacket having the cellophane it is also in pristine condition. It is my most prized record.

Hey DieSinister - THIS VIDEO ROCKS ! Nice interpretation and a lovely arrangement from Alan Parsons n A. E. Poe. He has been uniquely successful at this task. I've always loved the children's voices and Woolfson's in the background ready to take the spotlight. Is there any way to include the entire poem? I hope so.

@AlgumaCoisaNoAr Hi! I can speak German, so I can translate that for you: "Congratulations! This is a very beautiful video. This farewell song from the genial concept album recalls surely some nice memories about youth to many listeners" I hope that my English translation makes sense!
