[Chorus:]
I don't want to tie you down
Don't need a reason to have you around
But each time you walk away
Don't be suprised if I ask you to stay
Can't sleep alone at night
I just can't seem to get it right
Damned if I do
And I'm damned if I don't but I love you
I said I'm damned if I do
And I'm damned if I don't cause I love you

"The Project" was introduced to me at 15 in 1976 with "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". Been hooked since. One of the greatest "prog-rock" bands I've had the joy of experiencing.

They are so underrated, aren’t they?! Not to sound morbid, but I used two of their songs as background music to a video about my 17 year old’s life when she passed away. I treasure those songs when they come on the radio bc it’s like she’s saying hi 🩵☮️
I was a young girl when this came out. Carefree. Loved this song then. Now I'm a grandma who is struggling to beat kidney cancer. Still love this song. I can be carefree again, at least for as long as this wondrous song lasts. ♥ 🎶

Most greatest hits song by APP sang by Lenny
My dad used to be into Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Rush, Queen, Electric Light Orchestra, Little River Band, Steely Dan, Crosby Still and Nash, Fleetwood Mac, Guns and Roses, Beetles, James Taylor, and Bad Company :). He also introduced me to Genesis Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering albums which both became my favourite! He plays the electric bass btw. I play electric keyboards and electric guitar though I used to play alto sax back in highschool not as much anymore! Many of the rock songs he introduced me to as a kid is what initially got me into learning music theory and trying out some jazz stuff. Time and time again I find myself revisiting these albums cause being honest music isnt what it used to be like before. You just dont see the same heart and passion put into these older rock bands! The lyrics are also much more meaningful here. He also listens to Heart, Abba and some instrumental albums he also introduced being Weather Report, Al Di Meola, and Camel.

I remember my brother playing this in his Chrysler Valiant Charger on his L plates when he was 17 in 1979. Brut 33, Stagger Jeans, Lumber Jacket and smokes. What an era. It was on a compilation Cassette called Drive Time. It was a great era in music.... between Disco and New Wave and there was a lot of one hit wonders.

When you're a kid. Life seems to drag really slow. In 10 years you feel you have earned the time in front and want to use it with reckless abandon. Then one day you your going through old songs and one hits a nerve that sends back to that emotional spot in your youth that the song impacted you. You realize life went by too fast.

The Project is indeed from England; Parsons did engineering on Beatles and Pink Floyd albums, produced Pilot and most of Al Stewart's records. This one came out late in 1979 on Arista in the US. This one hit hard for me, as the girl I thought would stay forever didn't. Still hits hard 40 years on. Lenny Zakatek delivers the goods on the vocal.

Heck Alan was producing some of the Beatles best albums as well. He was the senior engineer at Abby Road Studios. Lots of legendary bands came in and left with mega career boosts partially due to his efforts.
I first heard this song, album and group in early 2013 I was only 6 years old in early 2013. Love this type of music.
I had this on 8track I played everywhere I could turn so many friends into this band
This has always been a favorite of mine, not just favorite Alan Parsons. Sirius is the one that gets the most play as a sports theme, but the intro to this would be amazing by a big brass section, like Fleetwood Mac did at the end of their "Dance" album. I can imagine the USC Trojans or Ohio State Buckeyes doing this at halftime.
APP never disappoints! Timeless.

My bf sent this to me last night, and just love this song! Such an underrated band! Thank you!
Oh how perfectly this song fit the relationship I was in back in the early 80's. Years later I contacted him and we dated. I still loved him. Wanted so badly for him to marry me. He left to go overseas with the Navy, but wouldn't marry me still. I waited, wrote back and forth with him for about a year. I didn't think he was ever going to come home to me, so I married because I wanted so much to have a home and a real life. It was the worse decision I ever made... I was damned for real. Divorced the abusive jerk that tried to kill me in the end. Later, yep, you guessed it. We did try to get back together, but it just wasn't there anymore for him. Or for me. I was damaged both physically and emotionally for life. I am happily married to a godly man now for many years, for life. But I do still think of him fondly esp. listening to Alan Parson's music...we were really into it back in the day. I hope he has had a good life. I would have made him a good wife. Guess he didn't want one. Far as I know, he never married. What a waste!
Visionary’s Delight!!!
Damned If I do...great song
