I have been controlling all the squirrel population at my parents house, they have a big garden that backs on to a cemetery, since I’ve cut the numbers down my mum says there has been so many mew types of birds around, constantly have a Woodpecker in the Garden, she got a picture of a Parakeet in the garden the other day too, she’s loving all the new birds that are knocking about.

Favorite thing to do on a day off. Set up the squirrel feeding station, crank some tunes, and chill on the back porch and pick em off as they feed.

bsa had the pressure gauge in the ideal position under the stock.they have now copied weirhauch putting it nr the end of the barrel which everyone slates

I now follow a lot of pest control channels here on KZread. Near the feeder you can see pretty much all animals in these videos, but never red squirrels. Are they already extinct in the UK? In my former homeland, Germany, I have never seen the Greys, always only the red squirrels, strange…. Here in Bulgaria I have only seen black squirrels in the park, you can't see the red ones here either.

Grey squirrels have pushed out all the reds from my area of the UK. There are plans to reintroduce them, though. All the best. Mat

Nice shooting Matt. With all the Bushy Tails with this days hunt, what happens with your bag? Are you cooking them up yourself? Maybe take a second half of the show and share how you cook them up. Be nice to see more ways to prepare them.

Yes, we usually eat the squirrels, or give them to friends. Any recipe that's good for rabbit or chicken is good for squirrel. All the best. Mat

Really struggling to get the greys to come to the feeders this year. Just too many acorns around. Tried everything - peanuts, whole maize, wheat.... not interested. Anyone else experiencing similar? PS... Matt, where would I get a rubber eyepiece like you had on the MTC?

Hi Grenville, That rubber eyepiece is part of the Eagle Vision GoPro camera mount. That is very strange. In my experience, peanuts will usually get the squirrels coming regardless of what else is around. All the best. Mat

Nice shots. I love to eat squirrels. Ones here have a bad outbreak of botflys recently.

Great seeing some thoughtful conservation going on and a good review of this lovely looking rifle. I’m new to the PCP rifle world so sorry if this is a stupid question but why are you getting a lower shot count at .177 if it’s theoretically a smaller lighter projectile, surely it should take less air per shot and thus a higher shot count? Or am I missing something obvious, sorry if I am lol 😘

Great article on the RM8 UC, Matt I've got one and like you say its perfect rifle for tight areas to shoot from , robust accurate piece of kit. For the the price you'll not get a better air rifle, I shoot Rabbits and Squirrels at around 30 + yards, is the moderate the one you get with the rifle ? I changed mine put a Hugget on a lot quieter

Nice gun got one on order .bit concerned about the bolt jump . Thats the second vid I've noticed it on . Bolt jump means lost air and room for improvement as far as efficiency is concerned. Both for shot count and shot to shot consistency . Is there any way of dialing it out ?.

Hi Stuart. It shouldn't be an issue for you. BSA have told me that it is only as I was given a prototype gun. Production models will have a stronger spring which should eliminate the flip. All the best. Mat

Matt I have grown up shooting rimfires and high powered rifles most my life. The problem I got is I bought a 12ftlb in 22 but its so loopy in trajectory I can't get on with it shooting squirrels. Do you think i be better off using a. 177 like you have in this video? Thanks

Hello I am great fan of you, watch your video and learn. It's sometime difficult to set up the airgun of. 177 caliber. I want to know that which pellet will be the best for long range 8.44 or 10.34 or 13.65 at the distance of around 80 yards for rabt.

Hi. The best pellet is whichever one your gun is most accurate with. I wouldn't even try to target rabbits at 80 yards - most of the ones I shoot are within 40 yards. The trick is to learn to get close to them. Good luck. Mat

Why have BSA changed the position of the gauge from underneath the forearm to the barrel end of the air cylinder?

Nice shooting old chap but i must say that rifle has a bit of a bark to it, Which moderator/silencer are you using? I use a Donny fl on my r10 and it is very much quieter, Although it may be the mic sensitivity as the little bas.....squirrels dont seem to be bothered by it . Nice work Mr Manning Sir.

They have been completely displaced in my part of the UK, though there are plans to reintroduce them. They impact on the whole ecosystem, though. People make a lot of fuss about red squirrels (and rightly so) but songbirds and dormice also suffer from the presence of grey squirrels. All the best. Mat

what is the tripod you are using ?

I thought the UK outlawed hunting or something.

In my opinion the BSA has a way to short front stock to get a good hold. It should at least continue to the gold ring on the air tube. Why the checkering/stippling just behind the trigger? Who is holding a rifle like that! Look at 12.35 how Mat is holding the gun and you see what i mean. The other neg. is, when using a sling, the barrel will be stick way above your head and will hang behind branches. I do like BSA but here was design more important than functionality. Is it regulated....?

BSA most disappointing air rifle from them No iñovation no reg disappointing shotcount also the cocking bolt jumps after firing as in your video, exactly the same as the old Ultra!

BSA assure us that the bolt flip will not happen on production models. I was given a prototype to review - production models will have a tighter spring. All the best. Mat
