Don't know a bunch about boats and carbon fiber. But a tip of the hat from this land locked craftsman to the 11th Hour Team.

I love camaraderie - this race has brung out the best in people. Everyone is a sailor first. Competitor second. As it should be.

What a fantastic effort from the whole team. This is super impressive and also extremely interesting viewing. Suggestion: if possible, could you do another more in-depth vid of the repair? Like maybe a 30-minuter or something like that. I'm sure many people would love to see the actual thinking, technology and process behind the repair. Best of luck on your way to Genoa, with some luck you can make up some time on the way because of the light winds the others were subjected to in the channel.

all drama aside- these plastic boats (foam and epoxy) are easy to build and easy to repair. "a coat of paint to make it water tight" sums it up. the hard sell is the environmentalist cover story this race uses for PR. these materials are toxic to produce and application. and there is no way (nor attempt) to recycle them. this is not about climate and the environment, or a limited carbon footprint. it's a boat race with huge cash outlays. wealth prestige.
