Hangman's reign hasn't been disappointing. It's simply that the chase was the best part of the story: Hangman overcoming all his doubts and fears and anxiety, along with all the people trying to hold him back, to finally become what he always could, World Champion. I've said it before, will say it again: the title doesn't elevate wrestlers. Wrestlers elevate the title. EDIT: To the people in the replies saying "he doesn't draw", I'm not going to argue on that. What I will ask though is, why does it fucking matter to you? All of us here are fans, not wrestlers, not promoters. We're certainly not booking or writing for AEW. Whether Hangman Adam Page "draws" or not, shouldn't matter. Unless you're saying that you can only like a wrestler when he's popular. In which case you've got a herd mentality problem, but I suppose that's your business.

People just want to hear grr promos that are edgy and insulting towards opponents or something I don't know. But I have been loving Hanger's reign. I think he definitely needs a victory here though. I don't think one world title run is all it gets. Cena became who he is after 10+ world title runs. Same for Randy, Triple H, Taker. For me, if Hangman is Thor, he is in the Dark World period. He overcame a big challenge, but not the biggest yet.

Adam is a true fighting champion and I have been all for his reign. I think some people just want a champion that talks more and isn't quite as much of a good guy. People like a face that has a little heel in him, I suspect.

AEW is a very new wrestling company, there has been only 4 world Champions, People saying Punk doesn't need to win the Title, they need to understand that AEW world Championship needs to be win by all these Great wrestlers to make it more compelling, Y2J was a great champion, Moxley was a fighting champion, Omega was a great champion, Hangman is the Fighting champion, his Title chase was amazing, Punk will proved to be another great champion, then maybe Bryan wins it after a great Punk Run, Cole will win someday, Omega will regain it later, Mox will win it back, Christian might get the Title as well, MJF, Darby they all gonna get this world Title one day, people needs to just chill about these big names getting the Title, it's not a bad thing for the company that someone like Punk Or Bryan wins this title earlier than MJF and Darby, because Punk and Bryan may not have 20 years of Pro wrestling in them, MJF, Darby, Jungle boy still have enough time to do it.. The jump from the commentary table to the long glance at the screen to take in what's ahead of him, addressing the crowd while standing alongside all of the fans, to the closing line...this promo was amazing and an instant classic

It just goes to show just how good Punk is. The fact that this was completely improvised is so impressive. I love the idea of just walking around the ring like that cutting a promo, it feels so raw As for the content, I love the visual of him "finding out" he was going to be in the main event of Double or Nothing, the camera shot over his shoulder showing the graphic and him looking at it. And then this promo just felt like all of the story he has told so far being folded up into one promo, and giving this whole feud purpose right away, from the Darby Allin match to the Eddie Kingston match. I can't wait until we have both of them in the same ring cutting a promo together. I need Hangman to really show me something in this feud, prove how good he really is. This is the feud where he needs to prove his detractors wrong.

You realise they only did that stipulation so they could find a cheap workaround for the ranking system as they wanted Cole to face Hangman. At the end of the day losses are still losses, doesn’t matter what stipulation you slap on a match we still see it and remember who the winner was

Anyone else think that come the PPV, the crowd may turn on Hangman? I never imagined Page going heel, but for once the whole "the fans turned their backs in me" story would be truly legit. Page has played the face role well, but Punk is so over that the people who supported him on his journey to the title may change allegiances for their hero Punk.

As much as I love Hangman, he’s had a badass reign so far. Would’ve loved more intense feuds for him aside from the Danielson saga, but it’s been good and it most definitely won’t be his last run as champ. That said, Punk *has to win*. Every part of me wants the Forbidden Door main event to be KENTA vs. CM Punk for the AEW World Championship. A historic main event for a historic PPV.

@@RufusM Jesus where do you start ...the cringe gimmick, the crappy storylines and promos , his whole boring generic look and body language, the pseudo cowboy stuff...he's totally generic dull and looks like what a 12 year olds idea of a cowboy would be like if he made him on a video games create a wrestler mode 🤷🏻‍♂️ AEW has some of the most bland boring gormless wrestler i have seen and present them as something the are not .

I'm hyped to see this this match, Punk is gonna score a W and become the new AEW World Champion

Still as exceptional as ever on the mike and with storytelling, but no longer as fluid and quick in the ring, which is to expected with age and 7 years away. Hopefully he will just elevate Page even more instead of winning.
