One of three things that the game could be is one Ellie does manage to hunt and kill Abby happy ending for everyone, second could be Ellie journey on overcoming her fear of being alone and facing new obstacles of her own while also seeing the ghost of Joel this could be a bigger character development arc for ellie Abby on the other hand isn't in this one it's just gonna be about Ellie accepting Joel's death and trying to move on from his death and the path of revenge, third could be where Ellie and Abby team up somehow like for example Ellie is in a situation where it's obvious she needs help but looks like there's no help on the way and in the moment where all hope seems lost for Ellie Abby comes in and saves Ellie but after saving Ellie Abby runs away and this could be a reccuring theme Abby saves Ellie and Ellie returns the favor etc until they decide to leave the past behind and I guess kinda have like a negan and Maggie relationship

I love how ellie’s revenge was about not killing abby, but by torturing her with the guilt of the death of her friends, and joel.

This reminded me of Glenn’s death in the waking dead! When rick says he’s going to kill negan, not today, not tomorrow but I’m gonna kill you! And then season 8, rick had a chance to kill negan. But chooses to save him because of what Carl said! Reminds me a lot of the last of us 2 ending!

It didn’t work for me. I think if you build up a character arc that’s so devoted to getting revenge and then at the very last moment change that motive, it falls flat. I didn’t want to let Abby live. I don’t think anyone really wanted to let Abby live. If we are supposed to be playing with Ellie and understanding her motives then her choices should mirror what we want to do. The first game had us save Ellie and even though we knew deep down it was wrong we wanted to do it anyway. We were completely invested in Joel’s motive to commit those murders to save her. As Ellie in part two we wanted revenge, we understood the cycle of revenge, we didn’t need it rubbed in our faces. Let us do the bad thing. It’s what the games were originally about. Convincing us that love forces our hand.

The game delved us into a dark situation and forces our hand but our acceptance of it is what makes the last of us special. The last of us allows us to build these relationships in which we will then do unspeakable things to protect or avenge those relationships. I think it would be far more fitting for Ellie to walk away having killed Abby and completely understanding why Joel did what he did. Why he would do it all over again. Joel would certainly not want Ellie to forgive Abby. If it was the other way around Joel would have massacred them all. So would Tommy. In that world, forgiveness doesn’t even make sense. People only forgive and forget in this world because retribution lands you in jail. Without that over our heads we’d all be out for retribution against those that murdered or hurt our family, loved ones.

Exactly, he didn't need to kill that doctor. If he was able to grab his arm and stab him with his own scalpal, he should've been able to slap it out of his hand and lay a fat haymaker into his nose or something. If Ellie killing Abby for revenge sounds reasonable, then Abby killing Joel for revenge is reasonable too. You can't have one without the other. It doesnt matter what people think of Abby as a character, she had the reason. Losing her dad, and dozens of other fireflies.
