THE ACOLYTE Episode 7 REACTION!! 1x07 Breakdown & Review | Star Wars | Disney Plus

THE TRUTH REVEALED!! The Acolyte Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects
The Acolyte Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Easter Eggs, Theories, Spoiler Review, & Ending Explained! Kelnacca lightsaber fight in In Episode 7 of The Acolyte, titled "Choice," the story takes a significant leap back in time to explore the events that unfolded on the planet Brendok 16 years prior. The episode begins with Jedi Masters Indara, Kelnacca, Sol, and Padawan Torbin arriving on Brendok in search of a mysterious "vergence," a powerful nexus of the Force. Initially, the Jedi are uncertain about the vergence's nature, but their mission takes a turn when Sol discovers two young girls, Osha and Mae, who are connected to the vergence. The episode reveals that the Jedi were sent to Brendok after a hyperspace disaster 100 years earlier, which left the planet barren. As the Jedi observe the girls and their connection to the Force, they discover that the twins were not born but created from the vergence. This revelation leads to a confrontation with the Nightsisters, led by Mother Aniseya and Mother Koril, who are responsible for the twins' creation. The episode explores the moral dilemmas faced by the Jedi as they grapple with the ethical implications of their actions. The conflict escalates when the Nightsisters, fearing the Jedi's intentions, take aggressive measures to protect the twins. In the climax of the episode, a tragic event occurs, resulting in the apparent deaths of the Nightsisters and the separation of the twins. The episode ends with the Jedi making a difficult decision to hide the truth from the Jedi Council to protect Osha and maintain order within the Jedi ranks. Episode 7 of The Acolyte delves into the complex relationships between the Jedi, the Nightsisters, and the twins, exploring themes of creation, destiny, and the consequences of one's choices.
The cast features Amandla Stenberg as Mae, Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol, Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity from The Matrix) as Indara, Manny Jacinto as Qimir, Dafne Keen (X23 from Logan) as Jecki Lon,
Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar, Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya,
Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi. We just had the end of The Bad Batch Season 3, Tales Of The Empire, and now we await Star Wars: Dawn Of The Jedi, The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Star Wars: Lando, & perhaps more!

People need to realize that the Coven was not evil and when you go from that viewpoint you realize that they were just a family trying to protect there children but also there way of life- They didn’t kill anyone they didn’t hurt anyone the only time they used there powers was always in defense never in trying to kill someone After Mother Aniseya was brutally murdered by Jedi Sol wrongfully that is when the Coven fighting still in defense but also in offense so that no other person would die- You can feel how you want to feel but Jedi Sol Jedi Torbin and the wooky Jedi we’re all in the wrong Carrie Anne moss was the only one who consistently tried to understand what was going on from a higher big picture view point But those Jedi after what they did should have all been stripped of there station and immediately removed from the Jedi order and the fact that they weren’t because they kept the secret for 16 yrs shows that they were corrupt and had fallen into darkness The witches were definitely innocent the Jedi came in like child protective services and instead of actually looking at the situation Sol just immediately said they were in danger all because he wanted a Padawan if you listen to Carrie Anne moss character She states and that’s why I have a Padawan and you don’t they made that scene jump out because they wanted the viewers to realize that Sol was jealous of not having a student to teach so much so that it clouded his judgment. Yes the witches lived differently but all three of the male Jedis were jumping to quick conclusions and making their own decisions At the end of the day aniyseya had made up her mind about letting osha go with the jedis there was no need for violence When she shouted out No it was her way of trying to stop the jedis and mother Koril from fighting and before that happened Sol yet again jumped to conclusions and killed her immediately making him the bad guy and darkening his spirit Everything after that moment was just a response to the jedis killing their leader but they never were in danger the ceremony wasn’t evil and neither were any of the witches They just did things differently

Mae misquotes Mother Aniseya when se talks about sacrifice with the Jedi, the actual quote was "Ascension is about walking through fear, is about sacrificing a part of yourself" not "Everyone must walk through fear, everybody must be sacrificed to fulfill their destiny" this is one of many misunderstood elements the makes Sol jump to the rushed conclusion that the coven is evil. Most of his actions in this episode are dictated by fear and a misguided belief that he needs to protect these children from something he doesn't even try to understand.

occurred to me during this rewatch that Sol's motivation in letting Mae fall was to get rid of the only witness that could tell the council how he murdered her mother. None of this had to transpire had the Jedi just collected their moss and minded their business. Going back to when Mae confronted Torbin, her first ultimatum was that Tobin go confess to the council the Jedi's part they played in it, but he chose to drink poison rather than admit they over stepped. As for the comments on Mae acting childish, well she was 8 years old, so a child being childish is what she was supposed to be. All the questions asked concerning her culture, how they were fathered etc was NONE of the Jedi's business! By their own rules the twins were too old to join the order, yet Sol continued to push. The witches submitted to their demands to test the girls. They saw the girls were willing to fail the test on purpose to remain with their family. But none of that mattered. It's the unmitigated gall on the Jedi's part that got me. Then to cover it all up, they let Mae become the scapegoat. Periodt. When Osha finds out it was Sol who killed her mama, she is going full on dark!

He couldn't lift his x-wing out of the swamp, not because he wasn't powerful (cause he definitely was) but rather he wasn't in the right mental state. He was frustrated, tired, and worried about his friends. Without a calm or focused mind in the Star Wars, using the force is difficult. Sol just killed the twins mother, who revealed that she was gonna let Osha leave with the Jedi. Not only did his rash actions get her killed and started the fighting, but he acted on fear. Which after fighting your friend and all of that happened, he simply didn't have what he needed. It was my impression that Mother Aneseya made a vulnerable Torbin extra crazed to go home. She sensed that desire and pushed it, but it didn't manifest as she intended. She didn't think that he would find his excuse to go home in taking the twins, she perhaps just thought he would convince the other Jedi to leave. It's actually a pretty cool motivation because it makes the one who was advocating nonviolence and cooler heads at fault too. She mirrors Indara in that respect, who ends up doing something horrific despite her efforts to maintain peace. No hands were clean in this, except for those of the children who were being emotionally manipulated.

She clearly had doubt about what she was saying by saying "I think" or "that's what Mama said". This is why getting a response from the council would have been worth waiting for. No, here’s an interesting take on my part. We are used to Jedi when they have an actual physical conflict coming straight for them. We had it with Luke in the original trilogy, we had it with the Jedi council with the rise of the Empire and the prequel trilogy, we had it with Rey And the Emperor in the last trilogy. This miniseries, we are shown what Jedi do when there’s no conflict they are just roaming the galaxy, checking on things and seeing where the force is influencing change in the galaxy. You got yourself a young Padawan who is out doing soil sampling in the far regions of the galaxy. Do you not think the guy is not going to be back crap crazy because these ones are not like Kool-Aid drinking followers they are just regular beings who have emotions whether they are trained by the Jedi or not you put somebody out there in the middle of nowhere without years and years of training they are going to go bat crap crazy. I like this concept that they did here because honestly up to this point the Jedi to me have always been a very militant indoctrinated society they can show no weakness whatsoever. Now what this show does it show us that? Hey, these are just all children raised in a certain Belief system and not all of them, which I believe in the books they explore this not all of them can handle it. So far, I don’t have a problem with the over arching concept of what they’re trying to say execution has a bit of issue, but I don’t hate what they are trying to say or do.

Also, just because they are a teacher, doesnt mean they are leader worthy for a group task of this nature. Especially when there dealing with first contact like this. Indara was probably better suited for a resource gathering mission leadership role such as this than diplomatic instances so things spiraled out of control and with everyone viewing her as the most level headed and wisest, diverted to her for guidance when in her head she is probably "Ok, stay calm. What do I do? How can i make this work without fighting?" She obviously has never been in that big of a leadership role before. These things happen when trust upon you especially when something big like this is just put on your shoulders. Also i just always viewed the Jedi as they all deal with a more conformity style religion and expect everyone to be this patient and calm individual that when someone deviates, there honestly confused and hesitiant. Once they calm down, the think through punishment. I think this is why Indara didnt know what to do in the moment and why things turned out the way it did. This is yet another freaking Star Wars Hill I am willing to die on. Ever since I kept re-watching the original trilogy over and over again over the years, I always came to the conclusion that the force is one encompassing energy that exist in the Star Wars universe. It is so strong that you can easily tap into it with, strong negative emotions creating desire for the power or you can tap into it and just learn to use it without losing yourself to desire so it’s all a matter of the balance within you tapping into a power source. Other words the force is not dark and light good and evil. It’s just energy. How do you access it is, all based on the user. With that in mind, I think that the concept of the vergence, which is stupid, it just a hotspot of force energy that exist in different parts of the galaxy this planet happens to be a hotspot of force energy. What they are trying to say is that in the history of the Star Wars galaxy they have literally indoctrinated themselves everyone into thinking the forces good or bad, light or dark. I have yet to see on film, have not read any books or comics, Anyone use a balance of the force like the true nature of the force it’s always a struggle between good and bad, but I haven’t seen anybody who has struck a control of the full power of the force at least to my interpretation of the films. If that’s where they’re trying to lean towards with Rey then OK no problem. It just seems to me that constantly there is this issue with Star Wars where it’s either good or bad and nobody understands anybody’s point of view.

This is where I have to leave Reel Rejects. While I believe Greg and his “I love everything the Star Wars does!” friend liked the episode, this is just a prime example of why access and invites to premieres, etc eventually corrupt even those with the best intentions. I used to come to the channel for Greg’s well thought out critical thinking on content, but the actuality was that that type of analysis was on a timer. The Studios know what they’re doing, and their strategy works. Can’t fault them for buying these type of channels. Look at NR, they invited Eric to meet the show runner and , he loves the show. Greg, you used to be really entertaining and I thank you for that. Good luck in the future with your current direction.

I'm probably trying to put together something that isnt there, but im starting to wonder if the way mai and osha's personalities clash and the way they act is actually because of them not having access to the opposite spectrum of emotions. Mai has all the traits of selfishness/anger/pride and osha is more attuned to empathy/friendship/hopefulness. It would be kind of interesting on paper if that was thier original intent, but let's face it, if that was the case they dropped the ball. At least the series had some cool action scenes lol

I was glad they showed that it was an electrical fire that spread, because I was so confused how a seemingly stone structure could burn. If you see the Jedi as the dominant organised religion, their tendency to kill witches and see any alternative spiritual power as evil is sadly consistent with our own history.

Like someone else said this is a very “from a certain point of view” episode. Every single person, except the kids who were just acting like kids, had some fault in the scenario that caused everything to happen. We still need to find out how Qimir knows so much about what happened though. Maybe this leads credence to him being Indara’s padawan and him somehow finding out what really happened v. what she told him and maybe that’s why he left the order (?)
