Depends on the Jedi. Jedi are more religious people, which is why they have temples. they went as diplomats to the trade before anyone really dragged them into anything and were cutting their way thru droids and bulkheads. not really diplomatically. and when they saw a sith, lightsabers out, kill that dude. which is why I'm confused why this coven of sith witches was merely exiled and not exterminated.

They also act as galactic peace keepers, so more like Federal Marshals in space with monk like attitudes. They are diplomats, space cops, healers, scholars and guards. Depending on the jedi of course. Kenobi and Qui-gon acted more like Detectives before Anakin came into the picture. Obi-wan Kenobi 100% was a guard at one point for Satine and def did not fuck her during that time, I am 100% sure of that.

I’m one of them; growing up, I loved everything Star Wars. I watched the movies ad nauseam, to the point that I could recite entire scenes verbatim, I had the toys, I played the games, I did it all. Today, I couldn’t care less about it. Never even saw Rise of Skywalker and probably never will. I heard the first couple seasons of The Mandalorian were actually pretty good, but at that point I had long since stopped caring and didn’t bother with it.

There were no white males I felt I could identify with in the first 3 episodes of the Acolyte. What a failure of diversity and inclusion.

Fun fact. In the scene where Sol saves Osha and they are running past the dead bodies of the witches, those actors are ACTUALLY dead. They died of shame and embarrassment after filming the witch ritual scenes. Headland thought having real dead bodies lying around would add to the realism. She said she wouldn't waste this "golden opportunity!"

Because the critics are paid off. The entire thing is illegal but Disney is such a big company that they do not care. Even if they get caught, the money they would earn off the paid reviews from attracting consumers is far more than any fine they'd receive. This is why new laws need to be placed to prevent a corporation ever getting as big as Disney or Amazon.

The problem with the "pulling on the thread" analogy in the episode, is you only do so when you want to "unravel" something. It sounds like they are OPENLY telling you someone is going to pull the "thread", and change the "problematic" originals. So, suddenly it seems the Force became TIME TRAVEL as well. Also, I don't think the show writer knows exactly how destiny and fate differs - you don't need the Force to change your destiny, only the desire and willingness to do the work, like Luke did when he left his home. Trying to change your fate, usually leads to a terrible outcome, because someone else will have to pay the price (in storytelling).

For someone so highly placed, I'm amazed that she seems to know NOTHING of the franchise she is a caretaker of, and seems to know even LESS about storywriting - exactly how does she vet scripts if she doesn't even understand the Light and Dark side of the Force represents the better and worse aspects of a person's inner self - a BASIC storytelling idea used by COUNTLESS stories and psychological dimension of being HUMAN? I mean, I get it -she's an executive, and those tend to be historically notoriously bad at the creative part of projects, but c'mon on - how many years has she been a franchise caretaker of this property, and she STILL doesn't even know the basics of it by now? The MINIMUM she can do is some basic research on the universe, main characters, timeline and technologies, if for no other reason than to spot easily avoidable rookie mistakes that would become costly mistakes over time - they LITERALLY own EVERYTHING in the franchise and they don't even want to do that?

It's weird to me that this must be explained or, worse, defended. If everything is 'gray', then that means there's no conflict. No conflict = no story or interest.

How did we go from films dealing with Good vs Evil, Characters falling to the darkness and eventually finding their way back to the light, or struggling against temptation and holding to their code and honor to now nobody is good/bad, everybody is special and history means nothing? The child I was in 1977 watched in wide-eyed wonder at what was on the movie screen in front of me, getting Dagobah Luke and Yoda for Christmas one year was the highlight of that whole year. The cranky old man I am now looks at this utter garbage and understands all those times my Grandfather would see/hear something stupid and sadly shake his head and sigh.
