I've never understood how that was supposed to be either a surprising observation or some kind of criticism. If I watch something I thought MIGHT be interesting and was disappointed, I'd be annoyed for a minute, possibly angry if I had to pay a decent amount of money (it's why I don't go to the theater anymore unless I'm reasonably confident I'll love it), but after that I'll move on and probably forget about the film and whatever franchise it was associated with. If, like Star Wars, it is a franchise I have invested quite of bit of time, money, and interest into, I'm going to be livid if something is not up to par and absolutely outraged if it damages other parts of the universe besides itself. It's why the sequel trilogy made me so angry. However, I have by now gotten to the point where I don't really care anymore. It's not Star Wars to me. I'll check out some old stuff I didn't already own, but that's about it. Disney has given me every reason to pretend that anything made after they bought it doesn't exist (I'd even give up the few Disney-made things I actually liked if it would result in Star Wars not being run into the ground).

I love how they keep blaming the fans for their decision to intentionally make things they know their fanbase isn't going to like. I'm tired of being gaslit for not liking their change of direction. The Mandalorian, Rogue One, and Andor had diverse casting as well, and were well received. The problem stems from them making it more important than their storytelling, and how every male is incompetent without a strong female to rescue him. Men are simple creatures, we like characters that are idealized versions of what we want to be.

Heads will roll the day a SW movie doesn't make a billion dollars+ in today's money. The budget was 180 million, and you know they spent at least 100 mil on advertising. This is a pretty massive flop and if heads don't roll now, they never will and they can feel free to keep going until the investors dump their stocks.

Currently on Rotten Tomatoes, pro critics at at 85% and audience rating is at 25% (take note now, as they’ll delete more negative reviews to bump up the number to the 30s like they did when the audience number was at 26% previously, bring it to 31%).

When I was a kid forty years ago before the Disney Renaissance there was an actual chance Disney was going to go bankrupt and get broken up. To think I might see that scenario play out again in my lifetime. History really does repeat. Oh well till then I'll just sit here and watch the OG UNALTERED Trilogy and ignore the rest, apathy is a wonderful thing.

I don't think Disney realizes that people aren't outraged, upset, freaking out and whatever they want to believe all this crap is intended to do. The only attention they are getting is simply mockery. We are laughing at you...not with you.

People don't hate Star Wars as much as what Disney has done to Star Wars. There's a big difference between the two that they fail to distinguish between. There's a pretty sizable portion of the fanbase who still enjoy the classic movies and are willing to buy the merchandise based on the classic films. The idea that you have to like everything because you're a fan of the franchise is non-sensical. That's brand loyalty and brand loyalists are not the same as fans. Your brand loyalists will stick with you no matter how much you change because they care about everything that has that name attached to it. In this case, Star Wars. But, your fans will leave if your franchise changes. One of the most interesting case studies is Final Fantasy because of the sheer amount of documentaries they put out for the development of each game and you can see how everything fell apart starting from Final Fantasy 13.

Final Fantasy 13 is underrated. 14 is great but literally everything else including spin offs has been utter garbage. It's all culminated to 16, the worst steaming hot pile of fucking trash they've ever released. Fuck that game forever.

@@OriginalDrGonzo I wouldn't even consider 14 as great because of what it cost Square Enix to prop it up for almost a decade. It didn't officially start turning a profit until late into Stormblood's life cycle. By that point, Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, and Luminous had all been cannibalized by it and cost them an estimated $1.5 billion across just those three (mostly Eidos's profits). If you factor in the additional money they spent in the meantime to keep 14 going, they might've been better off just letting it crash and burn and diverting their attention elsewhere.

It's not "Review Bombing". It's just a terrible show.. I have seen some "Review Bombing" though, coming from the professional shill "critics". Just look at Dave Chappelle's comedy specials.. His last two were slammed, 20%-30% rotten according to them, with audience scores in the 80's and 90% range.. The critic and audience scores used to line up pretty closely, UNTIL Dave defended J.K. Rowling, proudly saying he's on "Team TERF!"... Since then, they've review bombed his specials, and there was even that one radical leftist who attacked him on stage!!!
