The imperium would wipe the floor with the cog, gears and the lambent no problem. Even the guard would destroy them. The gears are mostly roided up humans and the Marines are biologically engineered monsters with extra organs. The Marines are probably more biologically similar to a berserker. At least the world eaters are. The Marines were built to be terror weapons that could dominate a planet with a single company. The only thing that would be able to hurt a marine would be the hammer or a direct tank hit. Where a gear would be destroyed by a single bolt round. They aren't called immortal demi gods for no reason.

What if Marcus’ mom (can’t remember her name) lived? How would that change the story? Just an idea

I’m not sure what effect it might have if any. Perhaps the Locust are discovered sooner and the COG pre-emptively striked? Could have ended the Locust before they had a chance to emerge but even fighting for a long time the Locust put up a pretty good fight so I’m not sure how different it would play out. Eday casualties would be way less though.

I feel if Elaine had survived, she would’ve helped Adam find a cure for lambency much quicker than it took him given her background. Sera may have never gotten an E-Day.

It’s never stated that he knew the *locust* did it specifically. But considering she was so interested in the Hollow and he figured that she was actually dead; it’s more than likely he put the dots together eventually.
