My friend has a simply 16 long arms and she purchased the electronic thread tension accessory. Before that there was a lot of trial and error and headaches trying to guess where the tension was. The other night I was sewing on it, and the stitches weren’t forming correctly because it wasn’t even in the darned disk.

When you are on the frame you can lay a full length mirror on the table below so you can look to see the stitches on the bottom of the quilt.

I just test on the excess batting and backing by laying an extra strip of fabric in that area. It is easier then to see after loosen the tension on the work without any gymnastics on my part.

When inserting the bobbin, I remember that the thread has to change direction after it enters the slot. Other tricks like small p or number 9 only seemed to confuse me

I just make sure that when I put the bobbin in the case it is rotating clockwise which is much easier to see and remember.

I start out with great tension, it have noticed when the bobbin gets somewhat low the bottom stitches get flat. Any ideas?

As the bobbin gets lower and you start to notice this, you can tighten up your top tension a little more.

How do the preloaded bobbins, like MagnaGlide bobbins work??

I love using prewound bobbins! They are great. Just insert/tension them as you would a regular bobbin.

I have an Avante on the Little Foot frame. I always have problems with thread shredding when I am doing ruler work and moving straight line from right to left and diagonally up or down from right to left. Doesn’t seem to matter if I go 5 inches or 15 inches, unless I am going super slow, and even then it wants to shred. Is there a solution?

If you are sure that your needle is in straight and you are using good quality quilting thread, you might want to have the machine serviced and have them make sure that the timing isn't off at all.

Thank you. I am about to get it cleaned and will certainly mention it to the technician.
