The Abandoned FL9 / Fake Railroad Prop

Over the past few years, a strange railroad drama played out in New England, with a classic locomotive tangled into the mix. Just when it seemed this cab unit was heading to the scrap heap, the story took an unexpected twist.

Going to live the good life with Mass Coastal/Cape Cod Central Railroad out of Hyannis, Massachusetts. Getting ready to go into the maintainence/restoration building there.

The FL9 horns were sought after because because they sound like a steam engine whistle. I saw one mounted on a pickup truck once with an 80 gallon air tank in the bed to run it.

I'll bet a nickel some insider has them on their truck, or sold them for a quick buck.

Great video and enjoy the content. Surprised to see that FL9 unsecured and not really vandalized and full of penis graffiti. As a locomotive mechanic that FL9 isn't too bad of shape. Definitely will be wiring issues for sure.

I wish I had taken a bit more video in there, but if it was in good enough condition to sell, how bad could it be. I'm still baffled by the lack of graffiti. If it was in NYC it wouldn't have lasted a month.

These locomotives have been replaced by the GE P32 GENESIS LOCOMOTIVES.

The FL9 is definitely in good hands now. Those shops at Cape Cod railroad do outstanding work. Does anyone know how much it sold for at auction?

If I recall right it was around 50k. The units Cape Cod got sold for a bit more (thus my assumption that this one needed some work, even back then).

If you want preservation, you shouldn't start out saying that the surveillance isn't usually real!

This is already moved and in good hands. It's definitely not my fault that the former owner left this in an area with no security. I found out it was there from the internet. The cat was out of the bag at least two years beforehand. Despite this I still didn't name where it was.
